Dr. Fisher came into one of my Memory Care homes to see one of my residents with dementia. Her approach was atrocious and she obviously does not know how to work with people with dementia(although she told our staff and the residents daughter many times she did and would not listen to us). She came at a time we requested she not come because this resident is not a morning person. She came anyways and made her way into our residents room and proceeded to set up even though our resident asked her not to. She was very forceful and disrespectful, even telling our staff who was there to calm her to leave the room. She told us that our resident was psychotic, needed a psych consult, needed to be sedated, and that we shouldn't keep "giving in" to her. After our resident hit her a few times for not listening to her, she ended up leaving. People with dementia are people too. And they don't deserve to be disrespected or forced into things. They also don't deserve to be sedated for being upset with a situation. I'm scared and saddened for any person with dementia that will be seen in the future by Dr. Fisher.
