We offera broad range of solutions for these disorders. Windy, Sleep Treatment Coordinator: Windy has been with our office for over nine years. One of her primary goals as a dental assistant is to get each patient to smile at least once during their visit. She prides herself on being a devoted wife, and the loving mother of three beautiful girls.

Working for Dr. Stewart has been great! He has been a wonderful boss over the years, and I couldnt ask for anything more. We work hard, but we always find the time to laugh. Mostly all of our patients have heard our laughter, enjoyed our singing, and seen us dancing. If they dont, they automatically ask if one of us is missing that day. I love hearing about the vacations, the grandchildren, the new cars. I could go on and on. Our patients know that I always have an ear open to them, not because I have to, but because I want to. I work with the best people, and we work on the best people. I couldnt ask for more. I am truly blessed.

Lisa: Lisa joined our staffin January of 2012, andenjoys building relationships with each and every person who comes into our office. Her goal is to make every patient feel right at home. She finds it fulfilling to be part of a team devoted to the care of, and relationships with, their patients. During her free time, Lisa and her husband enjoy spending time up north with their daughters, Nicolette and Samantha.

I feel extremely special to have been added to Dr. Stewarts dental team. I am a devoted wife and loving mother of six (crazy) wonderful children. I have been a dental assistant for the past 10 years and have loved every minute of it. I am thankful to have been blessed with such a great opportunity to work alongside a great dental team with wonderful patients. I am looking forward to the days ahead and hoping to help you smile.

Sleep apnea is caused by the collapse of the soft tissue and muscles in the back of your throat. This sleep disorder is often accompanied by excessive snoring, which occurs before your airways become completely blocked. While you snore, the partially relaxed muscles vibrate against one another this is what causes the loud snoring sound. This constant tissue contact, followed by a sudden snort or momentary choke when the throat completely closes, leads to irritation and sore throat upon waking.

Because their brain and body are fighting to take in enough oxygen, sleep apnea sufferers tend to sleep with an open mouth. Also, when gasping for oxygen, their natural response is to open their mouth wide and take in as much air as they can. This constant intake of air through the mouth causes the normally moist oral tissues to dry out. Hence, dry mouth. Sticky front teeth in the morning can be another symptom.

We will examine your mouth and review your health history to determine whether you are experiencing dry mouth as a result of sleep apnea, or as a side effect of some other condition or prescription medication. To treat dry mouth associated with sleep apnea, we will address the sleep disorder through the use of an oral appliance or a more advanced form of sleep apnea treatment, such as a CPAP mask.In addition, drink plenty of water throughout the day to rehydrate your skin, organs, and bodily tissues.

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), is one of the most common treatments for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). If you have a severe sleep disorder, or if oral splints arenot providing the relief you need, you may be a good candidate for CPAP. A CPAP machine delivers a steady stream of air through a mask placed over your mouth and nose. The air lifts your soft oral tissues preventing your throat from closing as you sleep. If you are preparing to receive a CPAP device, and havequestions, take a look at some of the most common questions and answers about this established and effective treatment.

A: You should use your CPAP machine and mask every time you sleep, even when you are just napping. If you are traveling, make sure that you bring the equipment with you. Although it may seem like a hassle, when you use your CPAP properly, it can tremendously benefit your overall wellbeing, and helpmake your life more stress-free.

A: For many, increased dreaming is a common effect of using CPAP. Because OSA constantly interrupts your sleep, you may never have reached the deeper levels necessary for dreaming. Immediately after you begin using CPAP, you may spend much more time in dreamsleep. As you adjust to your new sleep cycle, the dreams will probably taper off. However, you may find that you still dream more than you did before you sought treatment for your sleep apnea.
