Dr. Asdell attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1983. He completed his internship and residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City in 1986.
Dr. Asdell is a member of several professional organizations including: North Central Dental Society (past president), Indiana Dental Association (current trustee), Indiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (past president), International Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Great Lakes Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (past president).
Dr. Asdell is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Asdell is also an Indiana delegate for the American Dental Association.
Dr. Asdell is a Board Certified Oral Surgeon. In order to qualify as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a voluntary rigorous oral and written examination by a panel of experts must be successfully completed.
Dr. Asdell is proud to attend continuing education courses to continually improve the quality of care for his patients. He also sponsors teaching seminars for local dentists to update them on new techniques and procedures.For your convenience, Dr. Asdell is an attending physician at Memorial Hospital, which is a part of Beacon Health Sytems. He is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you.

I've called 3 dentists so far, looking for help with a complicated dental issue. The first two were extremely kind and patient. The Dental Center of Granger explained I needed to find a clinic with an oral surgeon on site for a possible abscess draining and emergency extraction. They referred me to Afdent, who doesn't accept my health insurance but I called them anyway to see if they knew where I could go next. They, too, were kind and patient. I called Dr Asdell next because I've read he heads some kind of pro bono dental charity organization for folks without health insurance. I figured at the very least, if he couldn't accept my state insurance he would know where to go. Explaining the situation to the others wasn't at all a long-winded pursuit either. This receptionist was impatient, cut me off, she was totally rude and unempathetic. I have mental health issues and developmental disabilities that have hindered self care in the past, including depression and anxiety which cause low self esteem. This experience was representative of exactly what I've been dreading. One would think the office of a man who heads an organization that helps populations riddled with these same issues would have a better policy on communications.

Had my wisdom teeth pulled today, was extremely nervous at first, however I was asleep during the whole procedure which made it easy, woke up, felt fine for the most part. Staff seemed friendly and straight to the point. Would recommend

Just had a tooth extracted.. very pleased with office personnel and Dr Asdell.. ALL very professional and completed the work very efficiently.. Just what I EXPECTED..

Office and nurse staff is horrible. They can not coordinate appt times, prescriptions, discharge processes.

My 3 year old son got recommended to Jay Asdell for his tongue tie. They were able to get us in within 2 weeks of calling unlike other surgeons I tried. They fixed his tongue and was very sweet to him! Even called the next morning to check on him. Very nice and caring people!

Our daughter had surgery here. The staff was rude and rushed my wife and daughter out of the office before the sedation wore off, and they offered no help to my wife who had to get our daughter, who couldn't completely walk yet, and her service dog out to our car alone. All because they were bothered by the fact that she was crying. My daughter is autistic and they knew that ahead of time, yet they treated her and my wife terribly. Not recommended.

Dr. Asdell and his team did a great job from booking my appointment to the recovery room. They were very friendly and knowledgeable which made the process much easier as I was really scared for oral surgery. Thanks again!
