Okay, its time to meet the team and come clean. Yes, we have an incredible dental practice that is the envy of most other dental practices in our state. But why? Id like to think it is our fabulous facility or all the continuing education we pursue every year. It could be the high technological advances we employ or even our ability to perform some dental procedures rarely undertaken by other dentists. Id like to think it is those things, but, alas, its not true.
The true secret to the success of our practice is the staff. Yes. Ive finally said it. Our team is the reason you love coming to our office. Always greeting you with a smile. They are the people looking after your comforts. They are the ones who write the sweet cards, give you warm mouth wipes, and offer you a flower when you leave. Take a look at this picture. You are looking at a team of absolute givers. I wish I could say the reason our patients love coming to our practice is the doctors. Yet, the truth is, this team works hard everyday to exceed your expectations on each and every patient visit. The credit goes to them.
Dr. Gary Michels has enjoyed serving the people of eastern North Carolina for over thirty years. He has served on church councils and chaired a local school board. Dr. Michels is a co-founder of The Dream Factory of North Carolina, a charity that has granted over 250 dreams to seriously ill children in eastern NC. He has lectured to dental societies and founded his own learning center in the area for post graduate education.
He is author of the book titled Unusual Success in Dentistry which has allowed him to lecture across North Carolina and to train other dentists. Dr. Michels holds a patent for a dental device. He has run the Walt Disney World Marathon. Having served as an adjunct professor for East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine he was able to share his passion for dentistry and clinical knowledge with younger dentists. Dr. Michels has three children, two of which are pursuing careers in dentistry.
In 1980 Dr. Michels was honored with clinical awards at his graduation ceremony from Emory University School of Dentistry. He graduated With Honors which signifies an overall class ranking of number two out of a class of ninety-three dentist. He was inducted as a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon which is a national dental honor society. Dr. Michels began his cosmetic dental training with a man many consider to be the founder of cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Ronald Goldstein. Dr. Michels has continued his studies with the most noted cosmetic dentists in the United States including, the dentist of the stars Larry Rosenthal of New York. Dr. Michels has dedicated himself to becoming uniquely qualified to assist his patients in having the brightest and healthiest smiles imaginable. He remains passionate about putting smiles on the faces of his patients.
Dr. Michels is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a participate in the Advanced Dental Implant Studies group. Dr. Michels is an Associate Fellow in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and a fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantology.
Dr. Chris Gauquie has been a north Carolina resident for 39 years. He received his undergraduate degrees from North Carolina State University and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the Medical College of Viginia where he graduated with honors. He was involved in student government and was an active member of the Psi Omega Dental fraternity.
Dr. Gauquie has been practicing dentistry since 1999 and has earned a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Since then, he has pursued the best continuing education possible to enhance his skills and provide the most advanced care of his patients.
Dr. Gauquie enjoys an active lifestyle outside of the office. His hobbies include lots of outdoor activities such as golfing, hunting, and spending time at the beach with his family. He also enjoys traveling to exciting destinations with his wife, Heather. Dr. Gauquie and Heather have three beautiful children. The oldest is their daughter Drea 15, their son Britt 14, and their youngest son Kellan 10.
Dr. Sarah Harrell is a Pitt County native. She graduated with honors from UNC-Chapel Hill, and returned to Greenville to pursue her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. She was a member of many service organizations while in school and continues to volunteer in the community today.
As a longtime patient of Michels & Gauquie, Dr. Harrell is thrilled with the opportunity to join the incredible team that has always made her experience so positive. She has encountered many incredible people in her first year with the practice and looks forward to serving many families in the years to come.

I can only speak highly of Michels & Gauquie. I went in for a toothache emergency and they saw me within an hour of me calling. The staff was incredibly friendly and the office itself was very clean. This was only my second visit to this office, and both times I was completely satisfied with my treatment. I have never written a review for any company, but I felt that Michels & Gauquie deserved positive recognition. Thank you to the staff for treating me quickly and with respect!

Best experience with a dental visit EVER!! Malorie and the dentist were so professional and kept me very relaxed explaining everything as they worked! I actually loved the experience. Best dental experience I've ever had. All staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. As a new patient I was scheduled with in 1 week of inquiring and on the day of was taken in time. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

Exceptional care--highly recommend! I've always hated going to the dentist & avoided it for years. Thanks to the incredible staff, state of the art care, & calming atmosphere I actually look forward to my visits. My daughter (7) gets really excited for her appointments! I've never felt more appreciated as a patient at any practice, anywhere.

My second dental visit here in the office today. The staff is so welcoming. Upon arrival it has been all smiles. Mallory the hygienist is phenomenal, Ms Stephanie phenomenal, Dr Michaels phenomenal . An amazing staff hands down

I have a phobia of dentist offices. However, Michels & Gauquie created a safe, comfortable and loving atmosphere which made my first visit a smooth one. I would highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a professional, family-friendly, "nerve-easing" experience. 10 stars if possible

I went here as a new client yesterday and had the best experience I've ever had at a dentist/orthodontist. Everyone I met from the minute I walked in the door was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I hate dentists with a passion but I might have to reconsider now!

Had a great visit with Dr. Harrell today. I had a chipped tooth that needed to be repaired. She did an amazing job and I experienced no pain. I would recommend Dr Harrell and this dental office to anyone needing dental care.

Staff is great, clinic looks fancy, doctors are really friendly. quick appointments..Everything is great but when I got my teeth cleaned I was hurting, and my gums hurt even a few days after. I did not say anything because everyone was so good and professional and I thought may be I should give them another chance.. later I had issues with my crown etc and still have tooth sensitivity but may be it will go away like the doctors said.. I recommended the same place to my husband and he thought the exact same thing that his tooth cleaning experience was painful.. and he didn't understand why they suggested to remove his wisdom tooth when he has absolutely no issues with it..I like everything else about the clinic but I am sorry to say that I am really not satisfied with the actual job..
