Dr. Paul R. Calat is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who completed his dental training in 1996 at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. For the next six years, he focused on advanced specialty training in the field of Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology at Columbia University/Harlem Hospital Center. He has earned the distinction of being named a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
A faculty member at both Mount Sinai Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center, Dr. Calat is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a member of the following associations: the New York Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association and the Hudson County Dental Society.
Committed to providing his patients the latest technology and the most advanced techniques available, Dr. Calat founded the Mid Manhattan Chapter of the Spear Dental Study Group in 2010, where he is able to collaborate with other dental colleagues on challenging patient cases as well as to participate in continuing education opportunities.
Dr. Calat is a New York native who enjoys spending time with his wife, Lori, and their two children, Drew and Alexa. Dr. Calat has completed the NYC Triathlon multiple times in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I had a wonderful experience here! I had to have emergency wisdom tooth surgery and first called at 11pm to leave a voicemail for the staff in the morning, but was surprised and delighted when a member picked up! She was very nice and helped me get started. I saw the doctor that week and was able to do the surgery. Everything went great! I thought my insurance wouldn't cover it but Dr. Carunchio and the very sweet ladies at the front desk printed an estimate for me which my insurance was able to cover almost all of it. I felt informed and prepared during the entire process, and everyone on the team including Dr. Carunchio were so helpful and kind. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Carunchio to anyone!

Dr. Carunchio took excellent care of me. I had 2 failed root canals extracted and then implants put in. She was gentle and her work was amazing. I was not looking forward to the procedure at all and she made it no big deal at all for me. And a great view from the chair too. Thank you!!

Dr. Carunchio was absolutely amazing. She was careful to take time to speak to me before the appointment. She removed all four of my wisdom teeth at once and it was all I could've asked for out of an oral surgery experience. She explained what would happen, let me know when I would feel a push/pull, and provided detailed printed post-op instructions which were my bible. After the surgery, her office answered my questions quickly. She even called me two weeks after to hear how everything was going. Definitely recommend!

Dr. Carunchino Atiencia is awesome! I had a tooth extraction and step 1 of an implant late last year in 2019 was set for step 2 in March then the pandemic hit and a few months went by, but they got me asap after they reopened and finished the Implant procedure quick & painless. Would definitely recommend! :)

I had a tooth implant, and the experience was as pleasant as a tooth implant can be. I highly recommend Dr Carunchio, she was great. I kept up with my pain med regime and experienced no swelling and very little discomfort the days after the procedure.

Dr Carunchio is simply the best out there. I am a dentist and needed to have my 3rd molars extracted. Of course I did my research. My colleagues kept mentioning Dr Carunchio's name as the person to go to. They all said the patients they referred to her office were very happy. I took their advice, called their office and made a reservation. Leslie took care of me with setting up all that I needed for the visit. Dr Carunchio took care of my problem. She answered all my questions and she was very gentle, pleasant, and experienced and made me psychologically comfortable in the chair. I'm so happy I saw her. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing her service and I'm a dentist.

Dr. Carunchio was able to see me on short notice to remove a broken tooth. Everybody in the office was helpful and friendly, Dr.C explained the procedure ahead of time, and answered a couple of questions. The operation went well, and I experienced very little bleeding. 8 hours later, the pain is minimal and less than I expected. BTW the office is very short walk from the Hoboken train terminal!

Dr. Michele Carunchio was absolutely amazing and would, without any hesitation, recommend her to anyone that needs an awesome Oral Surgeon. I have had to have my wisdom tooth removed for about 10 years now, I have been finding every possible reason to delay it as long as I could, then the pain came knocking, so I finally had to get them removed. I hate the whole doctor experience, scheduling, missing work, dealing with insurance companies and of course most importantly the health reason I have to visit them for. So, when I finally had to get my wisdom teeth removed, I had mentally played it in my head as if I was getting a limb removed. Now - my experience - the appointment was quick to make (3 days) the surgery was scheduled 4 days later in the same week and what made the limb removal easier was that they were in-Network. I was ready for some damage, because I didn't want to go through this again, I had decided to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed in one go. The whole procedure was probably done in about 30 - 40 mins - including getting the jaw numb and get all 4 teeth removed. I am on day 2 and there is no pain yet except the awkward sensation of the numbness and the sensitivity to the jaw. Considering all the different scenarios I had mentally prepared for, the experience was extremely smooth and as pleasant as wisdom teeth removal can possibly be. She was quick, efficient and knew what she was doing and I am very thankful for that.
