Dr. Anthony Michelakis or Dr. Tony as known to his patients is a 1990 Graduate of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He grew up in Warren, Ohio and opened a practice next to his fathers Allstate Insurance office. After practicing seven years he moved his family to Brunswick County and opened a practice on Oak Island. After growing his practice for 20 years to seven dentists, 65 employees and two locations he decided to sell and downsize to a more personal private practice. He chose Leland due to its proximity to his farm in Delco. Dr Tony enjoys living, working and hunting on his 70 acres when not doing what he loves most and has dedicated his life to. There is amazing peace being on a tractor in the woods and living off the land.
Dr. Tony gives amazing personal care to his family of patients. He always gives his cell phone number to all his patients and encourages them to call anytime day or night, even if they only have a question. He loves all aspects of patient care including: Crowns, bridges, dentures, implant placement and restoration, root canals, orthodontics and TMJ treatment. He thrives on continuing education always far exceeding the minimum hours required by the state of North Carolina. Dr Tony usually attends over 100 hours per year well over the 15 hours required. I continue to want to learn and grow. Each course brings a new set of challenges and it keeps me young and ambitious. Dr Tony is a 2015 Graduate of the Kois Center in Seattle Washington. He traveled to Seattle 8 times over a three-year period to learn from the greatest teacher in the field Dr John Kois. John Kois provided a new way to approach the ever-changing field of Dentistry. John changed my approach to a risk and evidence-based way of treating patients using science and research to best treat my patients. He is also a 2008 graduate of the Triangle Dental Institute where he studied under the head of the UNC Periodontal department David Simpson. It was a 10-month continuum course on Implant placement and restoration. Dr Tony has been a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists since 2009.
Dr Tony has two grown daughters Lilly and Carly who live together in Cary, NC. They are both graduates of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He enjoys driving there to have dinner and spending time with them whenever he gets a chance. He also loves traveling the world and has been to 36 countries over the years. Many of them with his children from the time they were 4-5 years old. He also spends time in the Dominican Republic doing dental mission work in the sugar cane fields of La Romana. He finds this the most rewarding travel as he gets older. These children have nothing but a love for life. They appreciate what we do for them and smile the whole time. We take them flip flops and other clothing and it brings a joy that you cant imagine.

They charge $288 for consultations! Make sure you understand that because they won't tell you when making your appointment. I have seen multiple dentists and this is the only one that charges. I know what I need done, called to verify they could do it before I make another appointment with a dentist that can't do what i need. I was sick of going to dentists wasting mine and their time because they can't do what I need. The lady reassured me that they could do it. I go in and they don't do what I need and referred me out. I knew what I needed that's why I called and made sure. I feel like they only wanted to get me there to charge me this crazy consultation fee! Not only did I get hit with a surprise $288 visit but another day taking off of work for a waisted appointment, more xrays that I told them I already had done and had them with me, 2 hrs waisted drive, $60 in gas. The dentist I seen made me feel like she was better than me, which I'm a business owner and own a non-profit in the county (that I started 4 yrs ago). The nurse was the only one I really enjoyed talking with.

We recently moved to Leland and I had researched many dentists near me. I made the right choice! This is by far the best experience I've ever had at a dentist in my 60 years! Dr. Michelakis and his assistant were wonderful and put me at as much ease as possible with a tooth extraction that I was very anxious about. No pain whatsoever! The hygienist was excellent that I had seen the prior week and the office manager awesome as well. Very state of the art, professional and fun office! A great place to go for your dental needs! So happy to have found these wonderful people! Highly recommend!

Dr Michelakis is a great dentist. I went to see him all 8 years I was in high school and college. If I could justify driving 4 hours from west of Charlotte to have him work on my teeth, I'd be in this dental office in a heartbeat.

Dr. Tony is the best dentist I have ever been to. He is caring, compassionate, and so detail oriented that he reaches perfection without up-selling additional services. I am so happy he is now closer to me and has the most up to date equipment to perform as many services as possible in-house. His staff is wonderful, the office is immaculate. I can go there and feel confident that whatever problem I have will be taken care of in the best way possible. Painless too!

Just finished my cleaning and check-up. Beautiful, brand new office with the latest equipment. The entire staff was friendly and efficient and on-time. Also appreciated no "up-selling" of services such as fluoride and electronic toothbrushes. As a retiree with no insurance, very thankful for their creative self-insurance program! I just received THE best cleaning I've had in years. The hygienist actually worked on removing my scaling rather than picking here and there. So glad Dr Tony and his team are in Leland. If you're looking for an experienced team, highly recommend you get scheduled soon because this practice will become very busy.

I'll be the first to admit, I have a severe phobia of the dentist. I put it off for several years and now I'm paying for it. However, Dr. Michelakis made this the best possible experience I could have. He took the time to ensure I was comfortable, walked me through the process of my fillings, and made sure I was okay after. This was, by far, the best experience I have ever had at a dentist office and for that, I thank you Dr Michelakis!

People don't take the time to say Thank You anymore. People don't stop to say great job but they go out of their way to share negative reviews. This office doesn't encourage or ask for Google reviews because they don't need them, the word of mouth full of smiles does all the marketing on its own. Dr. Tony and his staff.. love them all but Shea is bomb.com!!! When you're in the office YOU feel like you're number one! No one else and nothing else is as impressed as you and your smile. They don't settle for good. They aim for absolute satisfaction in all of their work! Never rushing clients and treating each one like family. I am astonished such caring practices can exist in today's world. I wish more people would take the time to share their wonderful experiences here! There's more than enough wonderful things to discuss!! Thank You for everything! I am so glad my Daughter, Angie referred me! She hasn't stopped raving about everyone there and I've seen first hand why! I can't wait to refer more people!!!!

There aren't enough GREAT things to say about this office! Dr. Tony is hands down the BEST dentist I have ever been to and I have been to at least 10. His sincere passion for what he does is evident in his work. He cares about his patients. His office staff & hygienists are professional and engaging. Anyone who has any negative feedback must just be having a bad day because this office delivers smiles. Absolutely impressed and recommending this office daily!! To all in search of a dentist, better book him quick a good dentist is hard to come by but a GREAT one is a rare find.
