After earning his Bachelor of Science from Kansas State University, Dr. Michel received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. He is a recipient of the Harry M. Klenda Award from the Kansas Dental Association and is a current member of the American Dental Association and the Kansas Dental Association. Hes also the former president of the Topeka District Dental Society and previously earned a fellowship in the American College of Dentists.
Because he understands that dentistry is an evolving industry, Dr. Michel values continuing education. Through his studies with Bio Research, he has honed his skills with the non-surgical treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD). He also has experience with dental sleep medicine, Invisalign, and the Nomad imaging system.
Additionally, Dr. Michel's dedication to the community has been a part of his professional life for many years. He was an active board member with the United Way and a member of the Historic Ward-Meade Pharmacy/MD & DDS project; he has also regularly helped them with fundraising. He volunteers regularly at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was the Past President of the Board (as well as a proud Board Member for several years) at Hayden Catholic High School. He was additionally involved as a past Board Member at United Way of Greater Topeka.
Dr. Michel and his wife, Jan, have been married since 1979, and they have four grown children. His youngest son Cooper lives in Basalt, CO, while his older son Adam lives in Denver. His two daughters Erin and Libby both live in Dallas, TX. He also has three grandchildren named Anna, Mikey, and Katherine. In his spare time, he enjoys keeping up with fitness and exercise, regularly working with two different trainers, as well as spending times outdoors. He particularly likes to hike the trails at the Governors Mansion. He also enjoys attending KU basketball games (his wife went to school there) and football games at his alma mater KSU.
Dr. Baltazar says that the best thing about being a dentist is interacting with his patients, getting to know them on a personal level, and watching their oral health improve over time. Hes excited to be a part of the excellent team here at Michel Dental, and he looks forward to providing the comfortable, personalized care that you and your loved ones deserve. Growing up, Dr. Baltazar apprenticed with his father, an electrician, and developed a passion for working with his hands. Then, from ages 19-21, he lived in Ecuador, serving the local communities and families. After returning to the US, he contacted a friends father who was a dentist, as he believed that dentistry would allow him to combine his love for working with his hands and offering service into one profession. He ended up shadowing in a dental office and immediately knew that it was the career for him.
After graduating from Utah State University, Dr. Baltazar earned his dental degree from the Louisville School of Dentistry. In order to stay on top of the latest advancements in the dental field, he routinely completes continuing education, and he is also a member of the American Dental Association as well as the Hispanic Dental Association.
Dr. Baltazars parents and 4 siblings still live in his native Utah, and he likes to go visit them as often as he can. When hes not at work, he prefers to stay active, whether this involves snowboarding, wake surfing, hiking, or golfing. He also considers himself to be a big foody guy, so he really likes to cook and try new recipes.

This was a great experience. I needed dental work done to get me ready for knee surgery. The doctor explained in detail everything that was going on with every tooth. He presented me with a plan that I thought was the best course for me. Everyone was kind and very caring.

I have had a few different dentists over the years. Today was my first visit to Michel Dental. I was impressed from start to finish. Prior to my appointment I was able to complete patient files online at my convenience. I received reminders by text of my appointment and what to expect. Check-in was quick and easy. All public spaces were well appointed, clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Jason, my hygienist, was friendly, calming, thorough, explained what he was doing as he did it, and fully informed me of his evaluation of my dental health. The equipment used was the most up to date out there and of the highest quality. The business office, where we all dread to enter, was the opposite of that expectation. Staff were super friendly, explaining all options, informing of different payment options and really had my dental health at the heart of my treatment plan. Dr Michel presented me with what he recommended yet assured me that he would work with whatever my decision was. It was evident he had my best interest at heart and was not trying to pay for his trip to the South Pacific or a new Mercedes (which is how I felt at the last two dentists I visited). His demeanor was calming, kind, and unrushed. He answered my questions completely and to my satisfaction. I am super impressed and am joining the ranks of the loyal patient base.

The staff was extremely friendly and non judgmental. It had been sometime since I had visited the dentist and my hygienist was incredibly patient throughout the extended cleaning process and the dentist likewise was respectful and informative. I had a chipped tooth corrected the next day and again the dental assistant was spot on in smoothing out the rough edges of that process. The front desk associate was quite pleasant....... I could go on and on! Yes having solid dental insurance does ease the pain and dread of visiting the dentist but the staff at the Silver Lake office turned a dreaded experience into a much more tolerable situation. Would recommend in a second and I will continue to use their services.

Dr. Biggs and her staff are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. From the front desk to the exam room, the entire experience is pleasant. Dr. Biggs is also very good at making sure you are comfortable during any procedures. I would highly recommend!

I have been a customer at Michel Dental since 2019. Let me start by saying I absolutely love my dentist and his hygienist's in the back rooms. As for the front desk staff-wow is where I can start with them. Specifically Lorraine, she is a piece of work. It is because of this (second) incidence involving her mouth, she really needs to brush up on her HIPPA Privacy policies as she sure does blurt out all kinds of personal information no matter who's around including other patrons within the waiting areas, this last occurrence has caused me to decline any further interactions at this business. Let me also mention that I WAS not greeted when I arrived, no one came around the corner to even acknowledge me. I checked in on my phone thank goodness funny though the next girl that showed up she was all to happy to welcome her arrival! Way to make someone feel welcomed Lorraine. I will no longer be bringing myself or the rest of my family members back here (after I complete my follow up appt for my permanent crowns to be placed). This is VERY unfortunate as I've said prior, I absolutely LOVE my dentist and his hygienists. Also, one last thing. Please be aware that they will charge you whatever they want and insist it all has to be paid. Then turn around and have to send you a refund check because your insurance is pretty great and pays dang near all of your visits. I hope to goodness that Dr. Michel is actually notified of this post as I'd like him to be aware of the kinds of people he has employed with him-especially front desk. This all had me so upset yesterday.

It was a great experience. All staff was nice and treated you well throughout your time there. The exam went well with the dentist showing you what was going on through pictures of your teeth. The cleaning went well and looked great when complete. Overall great experience for going to the dentist!

The new location is beautiful. Service is usually wonderful however they were running behind so I did not get my complete cleaning. I did call them and are giving them an opportunity to make it right but it is two months out. That is very disappointing that they can't get me right back in after the fault was on their end. I take my whole family there and waiting two more months messes up this whole schedule of all of us going together. And I have been going there for over 10 years and I am a little surprised this is the best they can do. I am giving them another chance.

Beautiful new office suite; sitting in chair offers view of tree covered bluff with lots of colorful birds. Kirstin was the hygienist and was very good! All around great experience + Dr. Michel took his time greeting me and looking over my xrays.
