Dr. Robert Michaud was born in Quebec City, Canada. He received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Microbiology and Biotechnology from Florida Atlantic University. He then attended Boston University where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. He graduated with honors and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. Dr. Michaud then completed his education earning a Master of Science Degree in Dentistry with a Certificate in Periodontics from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. This surgical residency allowed for extensive training in dental implants, bone grafting, periodontal disease and periodontal plastic surgery.
Dr. Michaud is a member of numerous national organizations, including The American Academy of Periodontology, The American Dental Association, The Academy of Osseointegration and is a member of The International Team for Implantology and Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He is also a member of many regional affiliations, including The Southeastern Society of Periodontology, The Florida Association of Periodontology, The Florida Dental Association, The West Coast Dental Society and The Hillsborough Dental Society.
Dr. Michaud offers 18 years of experience in dentistry, with over 14 years in surgery alone. He has also been involved in numerous research studies and is a published author in the Journal of Periodontology. His interests are many outside of dentistry including coaching youth hockey and spending time with his family.

Each member of our team has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in technology and advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars.
Kristy is our Director of Operations. She has worked for Michaud Periodontics since 2008. Prior to that, in 2000 she began working with our previous practice owner, Dr. Levine, where she began as his surgical assistant, then later his office manager. She loves working in the dental field and strives to remain current in her knowledge of new dental technology. Kristy tries to make every patient feel comfortable, welcome, and well informed at our office. Kristy grew up in Clearwater and attended Clearwater High School. She attended St. Petersburg College and became a Certified Dental Assistant in 2000. She enjoys boating, traveling, concerts, and spending time with family.
Raised in Rockford, Illinois Athea relocated to the Tampa Bay area in 2008 and has been a team member since 2014. As the Insurance Coordinator of the practice, she is more than happy to assist you with any insurance related questions and concerns you may have. Outside of work, Athea stays busy with her son and is currently furthering her education at the University of South Florida.

I struggled for a few minutes before starting this review to find a word to describe my impression of Dr. Michaud's ethos. He really seems to be striving towards perfection in his practice, not as a "perfectionist" who hems and haws over every tiny detail, but as someone who is perpetually committed to adjusting and improving for the sake of achieving the best result. As someone in his chair, that's my greatest desire as well: The best result. Dr. Michaud carries the confidence and pride of someone who is justifiably satisfied with the quality of their work. Moreover, he has the best bedside manner of any doctor I've visited; He is personable, and genuinely interested in how things go after an appointment, in the sincere way of someone who takes full ownership of their work. If conditions change in the chair, he always reorients to the new situation immediately, confidently, competently, and (as far as I have experienced) always in your own best interest. He is also incredibly skilled at applying anesthetic, as I have yet to feel a single twinge of pain in his chair. I have yet to have any issues afterwards, as well. I am grateful to Dr. Michaud for keeping me fully informed before and after the work, to Kristy for being a competent and comforting presence, and to Sofia for making scheduling, coming and going, and dealing with insurance a pleasant and welcoming experience.

Dr Michaud is wonderful he completed an implant for me and addressed some other issues. He took a lot of time with me and is very thorough in my book he is worthy of ten star rating!

I am so very thankful that I found Dr. Robert Michaud! He is a wonderful periodontist and person. Before going to him I was so afraid and was told by another periodontist in the area that I would need four surgeries for my gum disease. After my first meeting with Dr. Michaud, I left with hope, and was advised that I only needed one surgery. The surgery went well and the staff were all so helpful and kind. I recently went back for my first cleaning and Tiffany is amazing! Everyone that works at his offices are amazing!l Krysta has helped me many times with answering my questions and is always patient and quick to respond, and Brittany always greets me and makes me feel welcome. I will never go to another periodontist. This doctor has truly not only helped improve my gum health, and given me hope, but has made me unafraid of treatment and I have peace of mind knowing he can fix whatever problems may arise in the future. If your dentist has advised that you need to see a periodontist, do not hesitate and make an appointment with Dr. Michaud, you will not be sorry! I wish I could given him ten stars. He truly cares about people and is great at what he does! Thank you Dr. Michaud for everything!!!

When I was diagnosed with a root cavity on my tooth I desperately wanted to save it and knew I needed someone experienced to treat it. So many folks out there are doing implants and periodontal work without advanced training and with poor results. Dr. Michaud checked all my boxes - advanced degree and training in periodontics and he has the most advanced "diplomate" status. (Apparently a big deal in the perio world!). He clearly knows what he is doing and runs things like clockwork in the office. He was amazingly patient with me and my desire to keep my tooth, but alas, that was not possible. After much weeping and gnashing of said tooth I parted ways with my tooth and my money and am getting an implant. Dr. Michaud is taking care of every detail and truly wants the best outcome and he could not do it with out his staff. They calmly take care of everything and follow his marching orders without missing a beat and with much kindness. Hang on to them Dr. Michaud. He commented while making a change to my treatment that if something had his name on it he wanted it to be fine in 30 years - I won't be fine then, but nice to know the tooth will be! If I have to go through this - Dr. Michaud's office is the place to be. Centuries from now I am sure my bones will be dug up for a new stadium and scientists will still be marveling over my excellent implant! Job well done.....

I am very happy my regular dentist referred me to Dr. Michaud years ago. The office atmosphere is nice, pleasant & very patient friendly. Dr. Michaud & his staff has impeccable bedside manners & I couldn't ask for a more caring provider! He has performed about 5 implants plus bone grafting for each of the implants. I'm not saying implants are routine but he makes it seem like they are. Even on the last one he had to move my sinus around to make sure the implant did not affect the sinus. If you need any periodontal work performed I highly recommend Dr. Michaud.

I drove all the way over from Orlando. Worth the drive totally!!! The office was super clean and smelt amazing. As for my tooth...I have been terrified to have any dental work done for years. Dr. Michaud was SUPER GENTLE, professional, and guided me every step of the way. Along with his AMAZING assistant, Brittney. She was phenomenal. I felt totally safe and comfortable. I would highly recommend their office and staff.

The first day I walked into the office I could tell that my experience was going to be a positive one by the way I was treated by the staff. I firmly believe that the way the staff treat customers is a reflection of the owner. When I finally met Dr Michaud he was professional, empathetic and honest. Dr. Michaud went above and beyond to assist me. He even went so far as to contact my previous dentist to highlight his concerns about the implants that were done. I am currently a patient of Dr. Michaud and I have no regrets. The staff continues to be very helpful especially Nicole and Kristy. I highly recommend Dr. Michaud and his staff without any reservations.

I went to see Dr. Michaud to have my front tooth extracted and replaced with an implant. I was frankly terrified. I did not want to go to my regular dentist because I wanted someone with a stellar reputation. The entire office is professional and responsive. I had great support from Britney prior to surgery. Dr. Michaud was reassuring and professional even though I was stressed. The extraction went better than I expected. I am VERY happy to have gone to Dr Michaud for treatment.

I have 2 tooth implants and my husband had 3 tooth implants by Dr. Michaud. I cannot recommend him highly enough. As a retired Nurse, I am very selective when choosing a healthcare provider. I look at edcational credentials, work experience, cleanliness of the office, friendly staff, a safe office location, and the caregiver's general nice personality. Dr. Michaud and his staff surpass all expectations. Being afraid of dentists certainly factors in. I can say I have no fear there. His numbing process is amazing, he works at a good steady pace, and he makes all stages of implantation a breeze. I would not go to a general dentist who does implants. I wanted a dentist who only does this 8 hours a day. Book without hesitation.

I'm 46 years old and was at risk for losing my teeth to periodontal disease . I truly believe Dr Michaud and his crew have saved my teeth ! Tiffany is the most gentle hygienist that has ever cleaned my teeth! I just can't say enough great things about Dr Michaud and his entire staff, they are awesome!!

I knew I found the perfect place from the moment I was greeted walking in! The whole staff makes you feel so comfortable and cared for. They answered any and all questions. There are not many office that do not treat you like a number anymore. Their front desk girls are so welcoming and on top of their game. Dr. Michaud was great!
