Mark was born in 1985 in Cincinnati, OH. He has four older brothers. Mark went to the U.S. Air Force Academy from 2003-2007. He was an intercollegiate varsity boxer and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Following graduation in 2007, he completed Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training in 2008 and was selected as a first assignment instructor pilot. He was rated 'exceptionally qualified' in 2010 and flew over 1,300 hours in the T-1A instructing students. He also completed a Master of Science in Environmental Management.
Mark graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 2019. From 2019-2021 he worked in emergency dentistry, helping patients in true crises. Dr. Ruther and Dr. Westendorf joined together in 2021, serving the needs of patients in northern Cincinnati. His practice includes all aspects of general dentistry.
In order to provide outstanding dental care, Dr. Westendorf attends countless hours of continuing education annually. He is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Ohio Dental Association (ODA), Cincinnati Dental Society, The Holistic Dental Association, The Seattle Study Club and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT). He is a graduate of Dr. Peter Dawson's Center for Advanced Dental Study and actively participates in the nationally recognized Seattle Study Club, Southwest Ohio Study Club chapter.

This is the best dental office I have found. My children had traumatic experiences at a previous Pediactrict dental practice we attended, so when we came here they were a little scared, but everyone in this practice cares for the patients and my children look forward to going to the dentist! Such a blessing to find this dental practice!!

The practice provided a very calm and soothing environment. The hygienist was gentle and caring. Although I have been coming to this office for many years, this was my first encounter with Dr. Ruther. I found him very friendly, courteous and professional. He was aware of my dental history and discussed my dental needs in easy to understand terms. I would recommend this practice to anyone.

I have been going to Dr. Westendorff for over 17 years. He and his staff have always been kind, professional and respectful. I was very impressed with Dr. Ruther and Dr. Parker. Lisa was particularly amazing working with my almost four year old daughter's teeth cleaning. Angie and Gail at the front desk are very accommodating with scheduling. I came to this office because my tooth broke down to the gum line. Many x-rays were taken and I was told that a work up with my insurance would be forthcoming for cost of the different issues Dr Ruther found. I might add that I had set up the appt. With Dr. Westendorf. When I arrived I was told he had retired he had been recommended by a family member. This office asks for upfront payment and then your insurance company reimburses you. I was told it should take a week. My return visit to go over all the x-rays was several weeks later. It was a month before I received a check from my insurance and to date have not received a statement of cost for the work that he recommended and my tooth that I originally went there for was never taken care of. I have never had to pay an upfront medical bill. I have always paid my co pay which is available online to the Dr. I found that paying over $300 upfront for a $90 visit very odd. No follow up and I had to see another dentist to take care of my broken tooth. I still have not received the insurance statement that I was told was sent for to see what cost/coverage for the work he recommended.

Had initial consultation and exam with Dr. Ruther who was very thorough, gentle, and skilled. The hygienist Olivia was great. I was turned off by how dirty the sink was which I would advise they clean between patients(or get a continuously flowing dental sink that stays clean).

I would highly recommend Dr. Ruther. He is a great dentist!!! He helped me with my anxieties, and did a great job of working with me while pulling a tooth. I am so happy I found him!!

I thought this was a biological dental office. I was told that it was. Then when I got there, I was told flouride was good, amalgam fillings weren't dangerous and root canals were ok...??? My understanding is that Dr. Westindorf WAS a biological dentist but Dr. Ruther definitely is not. I was disappointed in my experience.
