Dr. Michael Borchers was born and raised in Fredericksburg Texas, graduating from Fredericksburg High School in 1976. He went on to complete his undergraduate work at the University of Texas in Austin in 1980. He then received his Doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston in June 1985.

Dr. Borchers is an active member of the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association and past president of Heart of the Hills Dental Society. Dr. Borchers has volunteered his time to the Salvation Army Dental Clinic for more than 25 years. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Pathways Youth and Family Services.

He married his wife, Shari Addington in 1986. Shari is a Physician and is Chief of Pathology at Hill Country Memorial Hospital. They have one son, Stratton Borchers. They are active members of Zion Lutheran Church.
