Pediatric dentistry expands far beyond diagnosing a dental problem and treating a tooth. The dental experience of a young child can determine their outlook on dentistry and taking care of their teeth for their lifetime. Therefore, when we make a dental diagnosis, the childs age, personality and attitude towards medical and dental experiences all influence our recommendations regarding how to approach treatment.
Our dental office does not practice procedures rooted in child intimidation. Such practices include parent separation, use of papoose boards and negative verbal manipulation. Although an intimidated child may be a compliant dental patient, the long term needs to establish a confident and trusting relationship can too easily be compromised.
By having a parent present during the dental visit, the parent learns our child friendly terminology and is able to reinforce positive experiences at home. Our dental hygienists and assistants along with Dr. Healey, place the highest priority on proper brushing techniques and encouraging healthy food choices so that many dental problems are prevented. As part of the dental visit, parents and children can learn about new habits which they can work together on at home. Many parents appreciate our introduction to the child of the parents role as coach, something that helps morning and evening dental routines run more smoothly.
They allowed me to take a commission and complete the reserve commitment while I was still studying. Then I went in as a captain and spent 3 years doing dentistry. I completed my commitment and didnt owe them anything, he explains.
Dr. Healey completed his three year obligation in San Antonio and Killeen, Texas. Finally, through the GI Bill, he concluded a further three year pediatric dental residency at the University of Connecticut.
His concentration included Pediatric Orthodontics as part of Pediatric Dentistry with comprehensive training in oral/facial development of children and young adults. He felt that to be able to relate to each patient according to his or her needs, he should also focus on the emotional development of young adults and children.
Dr. Healey recently was awarded on October 8, 2014, Fellowship in The Academy of Dentistry Internationale. He also holds Fellowships in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, The College of Diplomats, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy and Honorable Fellow in the Georgia Dental Association. He has memberships in such organizations as Foundation of Orthodontic Research, American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, and Hinman Dental Society. At Emory University Medical School, he serves as an instructor in pediatric facial development.
Dr. Healey is one of the few pediatric dental offices serving Sandy Springs, Atlanta and surrounding areas, thatencourages parents to be with their children. He uses this time to be interactive with you, teach you how your child will grow and develop through the years and how best to care for your child's teeth!

As an adult you know how uncomfortable it can be when it's time for dental x-rays so you can imagine how your child would respond! Dr. Healey makes sure this will be a pleasant experience as All films are taken outside the mouth. The computer generated composite gives great detail with thelowest radiation and NO PROBES in your child's mouth!
Dr. Healey literally is your 'one stop shop' for your child 's dental care as he is trained to provide full orthodontic care right here! Many parents appreciate not having one dentist for routine dental care and another for orthodontic care. What a time saver, not to mention the convenient Saturday hours that are available as well!

My granddaughter had a terrible smile, her mouth was too small for all of her teeth and they were coming out everywhere in a really bizarre hideous manner. Dr. Healey figured out a solution, he arranged for a couple of teeth to be taken out and then closed up the spaces and now she has a beautiful smile and is not embarassed to speak, smile and be seen in public. A life changing transformation with as good patient care and communications as I have experienced at anytime in my 74 years of life. You can't go wrong with Dr. Mike Healey.

Completely blown away at the compassion from Dr. Healey and his staff. We were turned away by 3 other dentists for my son's dental work. We have his work booked. I can add more after we get our work done.

Our dentist was out of town and called Dr Healey office's for some guidance. The receptionist was incredibly kind, helpful, and patient with me as I described our situation. After sending some pictures, the dr called me personally to discuss the best course of action. I am incredibly grateful to them for their help and kindness!! My experience with Dr. Healey himself was limited and my first interaction went well. But after 5 rescheduled visits and cancellations for my child's cleaning we will be going to another dentist that does not have a lack of consideration for a patients time and last minute cancellations.

I grew up going to Dr. Healey as a kid (I'm 43 now) and I only wish I could find as good a dentist as he is for my own kid (we live out of state). I know so many adults that don't like the dentist, but I never mind going and I contribute that to Dr. Healey's care when I was a kid. He made things fun and not scary (I had plenty of cavities as a kid), and he taught me (as a kid) to brush my teeth better. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Healey!

Dr. Healy should patent his dental experience and it should become an industry standard. His staff and the facility put you at ease and you leave feeling better than when you first walked in ready to make you follow up appointment. Dr. Healy and his staff are superb . 5 stars

Upon meeting him I felt hopeful to find someone that could help me. I appreciated him taking on my special needs and working with my local anesthesia allergy. It's really hard to find someone to help me. I think he did a really nice job on my three front crowns. I appreciate the fact he was able to get me into emory to get all this done which I was so grateful for. Here's where I had an issue with him. In my opinion he wasted $4,610 of my money because of poor root canals. He put a crown and did a core on one of the teeth that had a bad root canal. The molar he did the root canal on he missed the second root. Which Resulted in both of the teeth he did getting pulled. I can't see a endontist and get any root canal revisions because I can't be numb and most don't do services under general anesthesia. It's too costly for me to have root canal revisions. In my opinion for a dentist that has been in the business as long as Dr Healy I feel he should NOT have put me in this position knowing my local anesthesia allergy. He wanted me to come in for a consultation after the fact I declined I don't need medical advice. I don't want to pay another fee for nothing. This is a billing issue. I really hope he will make this right. I am really disappointed.

Dr. Healey and his staff were amazing with my 4-year-old son. From the office decor (which reminded me of Old Orchard Beach, Maine), to the Disney movies playing in the waiting room, to the brightly colored chairs and toys, the office is child-centered from the moment you walk through the door. Dr. Healey and Ms. Elaine were patient and kind and established rapport with my son in order to make the visit successful and accomplish the exam, cleaning, and x-ray. I have already recommended this practice to our neighbor.
