My Father was in the Air Force and was transferred to Lubbock, Texas when I was one year old. I went to public school in Lubbock and completed my undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University. I received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with minors in Chemistry and German. To further my education I moved to Houston where I attended The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston and received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

I like to cook out on my grill and have friends and family over for dinner. Be sure to ask my staff about my amazing bratwursts!!! When I am not at the office I enjoy reading my dental journals and keeping current on new research and techniques. Beth and I keep very busy trying to keep up with our daughters.

On November 25th, 2019 we rescued Oliver and Mocha. They are Havanese. Their human died and they ended up in a rescue. We adopted them and now our lives revolve around our dogs. They are pretty laid back dogs and only bark when someone is walking past our house. They love taking walks through the neighborhood. Although we tried to get them to sleep in their doggie bed, they sleep in our bed at night.

I graduated dental school in 2005. My wife and I were thinking about moving to Kingwood. So I started working for a dentist in Kingwood. When my wife was about to graduate Radiology Residency she decided she did not want to leave Houston. I did not want to keep driving out to Kingwood anymore so I started working in Houston. After a couple of years of working for other dentists I wanted to have my own place. I did not want to start from scratch and was looking to take over a retiring doctors practice.

On a day off I happened to stop by the Dental School and catch up with my favorite Dental School Professor Dr. Rod Dosch. He told me his fishing buddy in Pasadena who wanted to retire. Dr. Dosch told me how Dr. Campbell was 72 years old and had been looking to retire for several years. However, he wanted to leave the practice in good hands.

Oh no. Dentistry did not cross my mind until college. In Junior High and High School I excelled in all the honor classes. I graduated in the top 1% of my High School Class. Everyone told me Michael you should be a M.D.. I though cool.the first Nugent Doctor. I went and watched surgeries at a Hospital. I shadowed and observed different Medical Doctors. Frankly, it was gross. You have to see people naked, you see patients all cut up and people die. Nothing in Medicine sparked my interest.

Great. I was a freshman in college and I did not know what I wanted to do. My parents told me the dentist had been recommending that my wisdom teeth be extracted. I was a little scared and kept blowing my parents off. Finally, my parents said you are on our insurance for nine more months, we can pay for your wisdom teeth now or you can pay for it yourself latter. Suddenly, I got real motivated to get my wisdom teeth out.

I went to an Oral Surgeon. He started the I.V. and we were talking about NBA basketball. The next thing I know I am pissed off. I slurred my words and ask Areyouuugooingto-sttart? The Oral Surgeon says we are already done! Then I feel the cotton gauze in my mouth. What the heck just happened to me. The next week when I came back for a checkup I quizzed the Oral Surgeon. I was fascinated as to what had happened to me.

I went home and called our family dentist office and told them I was interested in becoming a dentist. I asked if I could come watch the dentist. I followed my dentist around for several days. I was fascinated. Dentistry is so cool! You get to be a science biology nerd, you get to play with cool tool, you dont see patients naked and nobody dies!!

Learning. Dental knowledge is expanding every month. As the doctor, I owe it to my patients to be offering the latest and most advanced options. Each year I average fifteen time more required continuing education hours then the State of Texas requires. I have a professional obligation to be the very best I can be for the patients I serve. Plus, learning is so fun and stimulating.

Over the years Ive enjoyed building beautiful smiles, freeing patients from old fashioned dentures by creating dental implant dentures, getting people out of pain and seeing patients regain their dental health. However, I am most passionate about the meaningful and personal relationships I have created with my patients and my team.

It is quite a privilege to be associated and working with such an incredible dental family. Normally, offices consider their employees as staff or team. However, when you work with Dr. Nugent, it truly is as if you are working with family. It is quite rare to find a group of people who work so closely together in a small office setting and still treat each other so respectfully; who go out of their way to show that they care for each other and their patients; who support each other every step of every day.

As a brief introduction, I have been a practicing general dentist for 38 years, and I too, LOVE dentistry. I live in Cleveland, Texas with my wife, Rebecca, who happens to be a dental hygienist; daughter, Sydney, who is a junior at Tarkington High School and Co- Captain of the varsity cheer team; 5 dogs and 2 cats. We also have an older daughter, Jennifer, who teaches Elementary Special Education in the Humble school district; and a grand-daughter, Emma, who is 4 and plans on being an Olympic athlete, but cant decide if she wants to be a swimmer, gymnast, or soccer player. I am a VERY proud, VERY blessed husband, father, and grandfather.

I was born in Atlanta Georgia. Our family moved to Houston when I was 5 years old after my Dad was transferred with work. I graduated from Westbury High School. My Dad always encouraged me to find a profession, so, as a young high school student; I began to consider my options.

One day, I had a routine cleaning scheduled with my family dentist. I called and asked him if I could spend that afternoon watching him work. That afternoon was all it took..I was hooked. Through the remainder of high school, I was at his office every chance I got. He was an awesome mentor and to this day, I am grateful for his teachings, patience and encouragement.

I attended The University of Houston for my first year of college, and then transferred to Houston Baptist College for the completion of my undergraduate studies, graduating with a Bachelors degree in Biology and Chemistry. I attended The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston, graduating in October, 1978.

I spent my first year and a half working as an associate with a very talented dentist in Humble, Texas. But my dream was to have my own office, and he knew it. He encouraged me to open my own office and that dream became reality in 1980.

After selling the practice, in 2012, I began working with TOMAGWA Healthcare Ministries in Tomball, Texas. TOMAGWA is a Christian based medical/ dental facility for the uninsured and also serves as an external rotation for senior dental students allowing me the opportunity to mentor students in a real world office setting. In addition to TOMAGWA, I am a clinic supervising dentist at Lone Star College, Kingwood, where I supervise dental hygiene students. And I work at Interfaith Community Clinic in The Woodlands, which is another medical/dental clinic for the uninsured. I love to educate, and having the opportunity to work with senior dental and dental hygiene students allows me to share my experience, yet encourages me to remain current with the newest technology, trends, techniques, and materials.

My interests and hobbies are quite varied. Hobbies include pretty much anything outdoors. I was a white water raft guide for 12 years with Texas River Expeditions. I was a volunteer first responder/ EMT with Kingwood Area Emergency Medical Services for 12 years as well. In addition, I have served as president of the Board of Directors for Kingwood EMS since 1994. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. My wife and I have a passion for medical missions where we have worked with various organizations, particularly Operacion San Andres, doing medical mission work in Lima, Peru since 1994.

How did Dr. Ragsdale decide to become a dentist? He shadowed multiple dentists throughout his college career and had some very influential mentors during this time. After looking into other professional paths, he felt drawn to this field because of the constant, direct interactions with patients! He loves being able to help people not only achieve better health, but maintain it as well over time.

After attending Brigham Young University for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Ragsdale pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. He also completed an advanced residency in 2017, acquiring surgical and IV sedation skills. Today, he continues to focus his further training on these advanced areas so that he can offer patients and families here in Pasadena with the highest quality of care possible.

Dr. Ragsdale holds special anesthesia permits from the State of Texas to use IV sedation drugs. During his university-based hospital training, Dr.Ragsdale received extensive training in medical and dental aspects of anesthesia. Prior to your surgery, you can expect Dr. Ragsdale to give you a complete review and description of the specific types of anesthesia you will receive.

Intravenous sedation, also known as twilight sleep or conscious sedation, will put you in a safe, relaxed, and comfortable state throughout your surgery. It is the most effective means of reducing awareness and anxiety for dental procedures. It is administered through an intravenous line (IV), and is therefore much more predictable in terms of effectiveness due to the quick onset of action. Although the patient is technically conscious throughout the procedure, in most cases, they will be completely unaware of the dental procedure. The disadvantage of conscious sedation is, of course, the increased cost and the need for an escort home after the procedure. But, for the patient who wants to be the most comfortable during the procedure, it is certainly the best way to go.

Dr. Ragsdale is from McKinney, and he speaks three different languages. His wife, Jessica, and five children all enjoy the outdoors. He loves spending his free time embarking on adventures with his little kids, such as swimming, kayaking, hiking, biking, fishing, and simply exploring the world. His children even wear safari adventure vests, and they have a family theme song!

I have been in Dentistry for over 17 years. And even though I primarily work the front desk, you may see me every once in a while assisting Dr. Nugent since I am a Registered Dental Assistant as well. I LOVE LOVE LOVE dentistry! Im a real People Person and love meeting new people and helping them in any way that I can. I am fluent in Spanish and try to speak it every chance I get.

And our son Eric who is awesome and who is my movie buddy. Oh and I cant forget our Pomeranian, Dory. Family is very important to me and so I try to spend as much time as I can with my family and friends.

I love watching movies, traveling and doing volunteer work at my Church. We have a BLAST here at Dr. Nugents office, working with such a WONDERFUL team. Its great to come to a place where you can feel comfortable, relaxed and call it work. Every day I look forward to coming here and seeing our patients and meeting new ones, always helping them feel like they are part of our family and to feel right at home. It is a true blessing to be around so many really GREAT and AWESOME PEOPLE.

I have been in the dental field for 3 years and I love everything about it! I was born and raised in Houston, TX, and I enjoy traveling, hiking, and movie nights! Although I am a hard worker I love to laugh and to make people laugh, seeing people smile makes my day. I am so happy and thankful to be a part of this amazing, loving, caring, and hardworking team. I look forward to bringing many more smiles to you and your family!

I love teeth! Teeth of all shapes and sizes! I got into dental hygiene almost by accident, and my original motive wasnt to save the smiles of the world, but now that I have spent 34 years in the dental field, I couldnt imagine any better occupation. Most of my hygiene career has been working in this office, and so I am privileged to have known a lot of our patients for a long time, and now enjoy treating their children.

My dental journey started in a log cabin in the country No just kidding. I was raised in Houston. I began my career in Dentistry back in 1992, fresh out of High School. I had no idea what dental assisting was or what it entailed but the course was being offered for free at that time and so I went for it and fell totally in love with the profession. I worked as a Certified Dental Assistant at the first and only place I interviewed for over 23 years and now I am here at Dr. Nugents office. What caught my attention was the Doctor to Patient interaction. Seeing how Dr. Nugent takes the time to answer his patients e-mails and calls his patients. This really impressed me and now meeting the Doc and the staff, what can I say. I feel right at home. I have been married for 20 years now (seems like yesterday), and have two children. Our son who is 7 and our daughter who is 13. I look forward to seeing you and helping make it a great experience for you. oh and I am also bilingual Esperamos verlos para darles la mejor atencion dental y con lo mas moderno. Soy uno de los assistentes bilingues y todos estamos atentos a sus necesidades dentales. Los esperamos.

Everyone in the office was so attentive, helpful and professional. They frequently asked if I understood and then explained in English terms. There was no pressure after I was given the treatment plan and was asked to proceed according to my schedule and financial needs. I already have recommended Dr Michael Nugent to two of my friends. I give his office and attending staff members a high 5 star rating.

First time going to this dentist office and I'll be honest I wasn't expecting to truly enjoy my visit since it's the dentist office who likes to go to the dentist office but I was truly surprised and had my anxiety at ease, from the second I stepped in I was greeted by everyone and had my hand shaken. All the ladies at the front were amazing in helping me and explaining things. Even the guy who took my x-ray was great talked to me and carried conversation which helped keep me calm. Everyone there even the dentist was amazing I'm honestly looking forward to going back for my procedure in the near future. I was actually referred here by someone else who worked at another dentist office that I had visited and I'm glad I listened to her and went.
