Dr. Okano was raised in Ewa Beach and graduated from Mililani High School. He graduated from the University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus and the University of Missouri, Kansas City - School of Dentistry in 1988. He established Family & Cosmetic Dentistry- Kapolei in 2001 after 13 years of working with his father, Dr. Thomas Okano, DDS in Ewa Beach. Prior to becoming a dentist, Dr. Okano was an EMT on C&C Honolulu Ambulance. When hes not in the office, Dr. Okano enjoys spending time with his family, giving his son golf lessons and taking him to his sporting events, surfing, and Football.
Sherri has been in the dental field since 1978, starting off as a dental assistant. In 1986, she graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus and has been working as a hygienist since then. Sherri is also a realtor for Engel & Volkers Honolulu. Outside of work, Sherri likes to do marathons, triathlons, surfing, hula, going to the gym, snowboarding, and traveling.
Nina graduated from Old Dominion University, School of Health Professions, Dental Hygiene Program in 2006. She has been working with Dr. Okano since 2017. Nina speaks Spanish, German, and English. You will find that she is compassionate, able to put her patients at ease and ensures a positive dental experience. Nina loves her career as a dental hygienist and considers all patients as part of the family. She is very dedicated to the dental health care profession and makes sure all of her patients feel comfortable and leave her chair loving their smile. On her days off, Nina loves being with her family, going to her childrens sporting events, going to the beach and hiking.
Summer has been in the dental field since 2006, starting as a dental assistant for a Periodontist. Although she enjoyed assisting through various periodontal and implant surgeries, in 2013, she transitioned to the front office and later became an office manager, finding a new passion while still being able to help patients. Summer joined Dr. Okanos office in 2016. She is grateful for the experience and knowledge that shes gained throughout the years and values her close connection with patients. When she is not working, Summer enjoys spending time with her family, beachcombing, hiking, painting, playing the piano, baking sweet treats, and watching her Korean dramas- Fighting!
Summer worked at a Pedodontic office in Pearl City a little over a year before joining Dr. Okanos practice in 2018. Her warm and cheerful personality brings a welcoming experience for new as well as established patients. With her ability to multi task, she is a perfect fit for the office and assisting patients with anything they need. When Summer is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and shopping.
Mary has been dental assisting for over 10 years and recently joined Dr. Okano's office. Her experience in the dental field makes her an efficient and precise chairside assistant. She has a warm, friendly demeanor and gentle touch during dental procedures which help patients to feel comfortable and at ease, earning consistent praise from patients and staff. On her days off, Mary loves spending time with her family and enjoys outdoor activities.

When my crown fell off the day before my trip to Tokyo Dr. Okano and his staff were there for me. I was seen within a couple of hours in spite of their busy schedule to repair the tooth with great professionalism. I was very grateful to have such a great team I know I can count on. My husband recently had his gold crown come off. Unfortunately, my husband has bad teeth. Dr. Okano explained our options and showed us on a teeth model of exactly which teeth my husband already didn't have. Sincere, honest and just down to earth. If your looking for a dentist to go to. Dr. Okano in Kapolei. Parking is free under the building and the staff are really nice.

I have been going to Dr. Okano's office since high school and I always recommend this place to anyone looking for a new dental office. They are fast, punctual, and super gentle. They make everything very easy for me every time I come in and I feel like apart of the family the two times a year when i go.

Always available for emergencies. During pandemic, stayed opened when VA and Tripler Hospital closed their doors and canceled my emergency appointment stating to me, "We have to look after ourselves." Dr. Okano stepped in when I mentioned that and provided care. His front desk assistant, Summer, never let any stress show and always treated us all the same with a smile and happy greeting though all of them suffered like the rest of us. This team demonstrates the meaning of competence and is well deserving of public confidence. They practice what they say and believe in: Care.

By far, Dr. Okano is the best dentist I have ever had and I've had many dentists for a various number of issues over the years. He's compassionate, knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and going to the dentist isn't a chore nor something that I try to avoid. I'm happy to come in for his suggestions, from cleanings to working on specific issues and even being given recommendations for other doctors to handle things he doesn't do, such as root canals. He also has a smile for his patients and I feel very comfortable with his professional opinion. Another important factor is that the front staff are amazing - Summer and Jasmine. Summer has handled all of my details for the last two years and I've never had to wonder about the next appointment, follow-up visits, billing, etc. She's also a wonderful individual who's personality really helps you to want to come back. She always has a friendly word or conversation for everyone who walks in and she's also knowledgeable when she's required to be Dr. Okano's assistant. Jasmine is also great in helping patients and it's a pleasure seeing both at the front. Highly recommend and completely satisfied with all services.

Sometimes a 1st impression can speak more truth than actions. I called Dr. Okano's office and they've scheduled me the next day (although I've told her that my insurance is useless) as soon as I said I have a split tooth; her concern was genuine. Next day, 1st time visiting Dr. Okano's office for my split tooth; Lobby was cleaned which is important, and Ms. Summer at the front office was nothing but wonderful; so friendly and very helpful and coordinating in providing me in detail that what benefits I could actually get from my current insurance; that was outstanding because I didn't expect that at all. Technician was very attentive and Dr. Okano greeted me with smile and was friendly to talk to. He explained the condition of my tooth and of what options I have to choose. It was dreading and anxious coming to the dentist's office, but the whole staff at Dr. Okano's office made everything' easy and comfortable. My neighbor referred me to Dr's Okano, and I think I made a right choice! Definitely recommend Dr' Okano to anyone needs dental treatment!
