Michael Bliss was born and raised in Crescent City, California, a small coastal town about 20 minutes from the Oregon border. His father ran the local hardware store and his grandfather was a cattle rancher. He enjoyed surfing, hiking in the redwoods and swimming in the river.
Michael attended Milo Adventist Academy (a Christian boarding school) in southern Oregon where he met his high school sweetheart, Melinda. They followed each other around for college starting with a year in Canada and ending up at Oregon Institute of Technology where Michael graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences on the same weekend as his wedding! Two weeks later, Michael and Melinda moved to Los Angeles, California where Melinda did her externship at Cedar Sinai Medical Center where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Vascular Ultrasound. Shortly after her graduation, they moved back home and spent the next 4 years in Portland while Michael attended Oregon Health and Science University. After graduating from dental school, they moved to Eugene where Michael worked for Advantage Dental. Two years later, Michael was asked to open a new practice for Advantage Dental in Corvallis.
Michael and Melinda moved with their cat Heffer to Silverton in August 2013 to take over Dr. Craig Ellisons practice. Thanks to Dr. Ellison, his wife Noni and the amazing staff, the transition was seamless.
Michael and Melinda enjoy many outdoor activities like snowshoeing, wakeboarding, 4-wheeling, camping and hiking. They like to cheer on the Portland Trail Blazers when they can. Michael enjoys woodworking and welding projects that are often inspired by Melindas Pinterest account. They have kept busy on home improvement projects since purchasing their first home last summer.
Dr. Bliss is a member of the American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, Marion and Polk County Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Bliss enjoys regularly attending a study club with local dental specialists to collaborate on complex dental cases. These members are often the ones trusted to treat our patients when they need to be referred to. It takes a whole team to provide the best care possible to our patients.

The real test of a health care provider is how they will deal with you when you have an emergency. Dr Bliss and his staff were so accommodating. Today I had a tooth that was extremely sensitive and since I would be traveling out of state in two days I was concerned. I rang the office and they were able to get me right in. They diagnosed and prepped the tooth for a crown. Then applied a temporary crown and worked until nearly 6pm. Ordinarily this is not a big issue but it's Halloween and the all had events planned with their families. These days this type of care and selfless devotion is extremely rare. Especially in the medical profession. I am so grateful to be pain free and to have Dr Bliss as my family dentist.

This review is long overdue. Dr. Bliss and his team are just superb. Visits to the dentist were very unpleasant in my childhood, and I spent much of my life hating even the thought of going to the dentist. That changed when I visited Dr. Ellison, and continued when Dr. Bliss took over the practice. I've had my share of dental work, and it recent years, it doesn't bother me at all: literally pain free, with friendly, caring, gentle staff. I'm grateful.

Dr. Bliss and his staff are incredibly kind, friendly, patient people. My husband and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about every one of our visits. I chipped my front tooth last year and Dr. Bliss got me in immediately to repair it. He didn't have to numb me. He is SO gentle. I don't have good memories from procedures I had as a child, so for years I dreaded dental appointments. Dr. Bliss and his staff have eliminated my anxiety about going to the dentist.

I've been a patient of Dr Bliss ever since he came to Silverton. I've been very happy there. They are very prompt (I've never had to wait more than a few minutes), competent, and professional. Even though I've moved away from the Silverton area I am still a patient there. That should say something as to my satisfaction with their care.

Today, my son had 4 teeth pulled that were not going to fall out naturally. Dr. Bliss spoke in a reassuring manner and fully explained to my 10 year old what was going to happen and while it was happening. My son had been rather anxious but, I could see the tension disappear as the procedure went on. I couldn't have found a better dentist for my son.

The staff at Dr. Bliss' office is always friendly and professional. The hygienists and Dr. Bliss always make sure you're comfortable. They're gentle and kind. No one loves dental work, but I'm thankful they make it as easy as it can be! Highly recommend this office!

I won't have anyone else work on my teeth! Dr. Bliss is amazing, gentle, and he listens to his patients! He'll give his professional recommendations, and then he works with you on a plan that will work for you. The hygienist staff are very thorough and knowledgeable in their cleanings, and the whole staff are welcoming and work to make your visit a pleasant one.

My hygienist was exceptionally thorough. I know from past experience that the dentist gives the best shots; very slow with no pain. Every member of the staff has always been very friendly and kind.

My name is Julia Macomber...my phone is registered in my husband's name. I'm a patient of Dr Michael Bliss. I came to Dr Bliss with a real fear of the dentist's office, due to a traumatic experience with an aggressive dentist. I came to Dr Bliss and was very up front about my anxiety and he was so reassuring that he could get me past my fear...AND HE HAS!!! He and his staff are so nice and caring, they have been so gentle with me! Always trying to make me comfortable. I can tell him anything and he totally understands! We joke around and laugh a lot...I would never have believed I would be laughing at my dentist's office! I needed all my upper teeth crowned last year...did the front 8 all at once. Dr Bliss did a beautiful job and was very gentle about it! I have been so thrilled with how beautiful my smile is once again! I absolutely will never go to another dentist...I'm so glad he is young enough where I won't have to. I LOVE him and his staff! Dr Bliss is the perfect name for him! Julia Macomber
