Michael J. Ruelf was born and raised in Tampa Bay. After graduating from Dixie Hollins High school in St. Petersburg, he attended Emory University and received a BA in Chemistry. Dr. Ruelf completed Emory Dental School and enlisted in the U.S Navy. He worked as a dentist for 3 years in Millington, TN where he was stationed. As a post-graduate, he studied Pediatric Dentistry at LSU in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Ruelf is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Ruelf gives back to his community in numerous ways. He extends his pediatric dentist practice to RCMA and state-funded health programs for children who may not have had the opportunity to receive pediatric dental healthcare. He has participated in several mission trips. Throughout the years he has provided Pediatric Dental Health Education to local childcare facilities, elementary schools and hospital-based family programs. Dr. Ruelf is also a proud supporter of youth sports and athletic organizations.
Our office is happy to assist you in completing your insurance claims. To do so, you must first provide us with either validated insurance claim forms or your insurance card. Unfortunately, due to the extensive variability of current policies and contracts, we are only able to provide you estimates, rather than guarantees, of your true coverage. Also, please be aware that balances not covered by insurance are still your responsibility to pay. I love love love this office. The staff here are so welcoming and amazing. My kids have been Patients here forever and I have never had any complaints. The office is always clean and our girls love it here. Thank you DR. Refuel and staff for making their visit enjoyable every-time.

Dr. Ruelf is the best dentist of the world. He is very polite with all the parents, I like because he likes to talk with the parents when he finished with our children. The personal are amazing, so nice and polite too. I am so happy that he is the dentist of my son Erick.

My most recent appointment was odd. Before my daughter with I noticed she had four possible issues. When the appointment results were obtained I was told that she had two cavities and she needed a filling. I did point out to the dentist that there was a hole on her bottom right molar. The dentist assured me that those weren't actual issues that they did an x-ray. I figured having a hole in your tooth can't possibly be good, but I listened to the professional. Now she's complaining that the tooth with a huge hole hurts. It's just disappointing that I now have to look for a new dentist to get a second opinion

My experience with this office was fine, until my last visit. Both of my children were to receive a filling and to get a baby tooth extracted for whatever reason, and a dental spacer to get put back in from it coming out over the weekend. My kids were then called to back and within minutes they were brought back out because they were a little shaken up. The assistant or whatever she was, suggested that I talk with my kids and then come back which I did. I sat back down and the lady at the front desk sticks her head out of the window telling me that I have to take my kids elsewhere to get them sedated and that they with not get seen.1. No one came to speak with me to see how I felt about my kids getting sedated or if I was even ok with that suggestion.2. They didn't bother to even try to reschedule for another day because my kids are afraid. Granted I get they're not forcing the children but at the end of the day, they are children they get scared whether you want them to or not. This office is not equipped with understanding children and most definitely shouldn't practice on children. My children will not be returning nor will I recommend this office. Update!!! After speaking with someone in staff, and both realizing that it was both a misunderstanding and miscommunication with another staff. We were able to resolve the issue and move forward on what our next step will be in my children's treatment.

I actually LOVE this place. My first visit was AWESOME. My kids instantly love the vibe when you first came in. They had free games to keep children occupied. I was called and greeted with great cut service. The Women in the office was very friendly.

Both of my daughters have grown up under Dr Ruelf's great dentistry care. We've been going to him for almost 30 years now. If you need a caring, child friendly, pediatric dentist/orthodontist, this is THE place for your children. He's simply the best!

I really appreciate Dr Ruelf! He takes great care of my child's dental needs. I never feel like this office is suggesting a bunch of work that my child does not need just to make a profit! Dr. Ruelf takes time to explain your options and what he thinks is best for the situation. He's able to get the job done with my sensitive little guy!! We drive about an hour and it's worth it!!!

I highly recommend Dr Michael Reulf. It is the only dentist I went to as a child. I drive an hour to take my son there because I never had a bad experience as a kid. My son was nervous to go the first time & his nerves quickly went away once he saw the kid friendly environment with games in the lobby & train tracks around the building. I plan to bring my daughter there when she is of age. Staff has been pleasant to speak to as well. Dr Reulf hasn't aged either, looks the same as I remember 20 years ago. -Dyondra Rossbach
