He obtained hisDoctor of Dental Surgery Degree from UCLA. From there Dr. Maurer pursued speciality training in pediatric dentistry at the Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon. While in Oregon, Dr. Maurer also completed a residency program at Oregon Child Development and Rehabilitation Center for children with disabilities. Dr. Maurer received extensive training in hospital dentistry, anesthesia, sedation, child growth and development, orthodontics and treatment of children with disabilities.
Dr. Maurer is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the International Association of Orhtodontics, the California Dental Society, the San Diego County Dental Society and the American Society of Dentistry for Children.
In 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020 we were honored by our peers and voted 'Top Dentists' in San Diego county in the field of Pediatric and Adolescent dentistry.
Professional associations include: American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Diego County Dental Society, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentists and the American Society of Dentistry for Children.

When I was younger, they took me to a room and strapped me down to a chair. When I was crying, they told me to shut up. Please, don't let your kids go here.

My kids have been coming here for years. Amazing staff and dentists. They have emphasized the importance of oral hygiene to my kids and I can't remember the last time they had a cavity. Grateful for their attentiveness, patience, and quality dental care.

Dr. Maurer has been my sons dentist for nearly 10 years. We are extremely pleased with the care that Dr. Maurer and all of the staff have provided during this time. As a dentist he is very knowledgable, thorough, and truly cares for his patients. Dr. Maurer has consistently gone above and beyond our expectations, especially in regards to my son's complicated orthodontic case from another office that he stayed on top of and advised us on. He addressed all concerns and was very informative throughout the entire process, his advice led to the best outcome possible. All of the staff working in the office also deserve commendations due to their constant helpfulness and kindness.

Dr. Maurer is the best dentist I have ever had. very gentle. very knowledgeable. had a crown replaced. the crown fit beautifully. great staff too. highly recommended. won't go anywhere else.

The staff at Maurer and Olen are so great, my daughter (10) has been a patient since she had teeth available to clean and check up! I particularly like the laid back vibe, not pushing us to do a bunch of unnecessary treatment and their great communication! Thanks!!

My son has been seeing Dr. Olen for 16 years. He is amazing with the patients and has done wonders for my son's mouth hygiene. He is trustworthy and has wonderful bedside manner. The staff is friendly and competent. They also take COVID precautions and we feel safe going to the dentist at this office.

We love Dr Olen and Dr Maurer's practice. I was a patient of Dr Olen when I was young and when I had kids there was no doubt where I would take them foe their oral care. The staff is top notch and though our careers take us abroad, one of the reasons we come back to SD every year is for our kids to visit Dr Olen for their checkups.
