We are a small team some of us go back 15+ years others were patients even as kids, some of us are newer but just as equally loved in this work family. We spend a lot of time together and like any family we dont always see eye to eye but just like every family we move forward loving each other and our patients. who over the years have become part of this family as well. Most importantly we love what we do, and we do it with love & passion! We look forward to working with you.
Kathryn grew up in the Low country and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Trident Tech in 2007 with her Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene. She started working with Dr. Engel in 2004 at the front desk, and quickly started back as soon as she graduated from Hygiene school. Kathryn is a proud mom to her daughter and stepson, and has 3 kittens and 2 dogs. She adopted from Pet Helpers & the Charleston Animal Society. She loves all of the patients and coworkers at Dr. Engels office.
Melissa grew up as a military brat and spent most of her young childhood here in Charleston. She has also lived in Connecticut, Virginia Beach, and Northern Virginia. In 1995 Melissa started her dental career as a certified dental assistant. She earned her Applied Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2003. She worked in Northern Virginia until she and her family moved back to Charleston in 2011. Melissa is married to her high school sweetheart, Steve, and has 2 children, Colby & Kendall. Melissa enjoys spending quality time with her family and stays busy with her kids sporting activities. She also enjoys decorating cakes, swimming, and long walks on the beach.
Phoebe is from James Island. She started her dental carrier in 2003, when Dr. Engel took her under his wing and taught her everything she know. I can honestly say I learned from the best. I married Billy in 04, we have 3 lovely (Wild) daughters Eleni, Brianna & Dorothy. Due to having 3 in 3 years I stayed at home for sometime. We traveled with Billys work and came back to Charleston in 2013 so the kids could be around family. I came back in 2019 part-time. My hobbies are spending time with my #1 child bruiser (my dog) and pretending to be a taxi driver for 3 soccer kids who never have it together. oh and my all time favorite hobby is competing with Dr. Engel at who make better temps and impressions!
Wendy is from James Island. She started as a dental assistant wow around the same time Dr. Engel started practicing like 40 years ago! Wendy and her husband Peter had 4 kids together Peter, Phoebe (yes that one listed above) phoebe liked keeping Wendy on her toes! Then came Ellen and finally baby Brian (still her baby). She took time off to raise them. She went back to work at Dr. Engels and well no one actually knows (BC computers were really used like now with old people) so we will go with 1999 around Y2K. This was back when the office defiantly wasnt digital! She quit well again we dont really know how many times. but shes back! Seriously who cant stay away we are fun! Her hobbies are calling children just to say hey and sit in silence, reminding Phoebe she is receiving payback for her childhood behavior, Spoiling her grandchildren and not having to chase her wild teen around town anymore!
