Dr. Mike Nelson is a Duncan, OK native. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1972 and earned a bachelors degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford in 1975. Dr. Nelson obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Oklahoma University in 1980. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Nelson opened his private practice in his home town.
Thanks to the support and loyalty of his patients, Dr. Nelsons practice has grown to become a high-tech facility withstate-of-the-art equipment capable of delivering the highest-quality dentistry available. He and his staff truly really care about the well-being of their patients.
Dr. Nelson has a passion for learning and regularly pursues advanced training and education. As a member of the American Dental Association and the Oklahoma Dental Association, he attends local and national dental meetings each year, most recently in the area of dental implants. He has also taken advanced courses in orthodontics with Invisalign.
Dr. Nelson is involved in many aspects of the community and is committed to making Duncan a better place for families to live. He currently serves as city council member in Ward Two and spent many years coaching youth sports teams, as well as helping with community projects, such as Project Graduation.
Dr. Nelson is married and has three children Megan Henderson, Mendy Nelson, and Garrett Nelson of whom he is very proud. He has been even more blessed with eightbeautiful, wonderful, and smart grandchildren.

I began my career as a dental assistant in 2007. Ithen attended the the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene. My job includes the evaluation and care of my patients oral health, treatment of periodontal disease, and administration of anesthesia, as well as patient education. My favorite part of my job is the opportunity to serve people in the community. I love watching people grow as they learn about their health and gain confidence in themselves, starting with their smile. Its my number-one goal to make my patients smile!
I am the first smiling face you see when you come in to the office. I have been an active part in the dental field since 2010. I work at the front desk and also assist Dr. Nelson in the back office chair side.
My career as a dental assistant began in 1987. I am a native Texan transplanted to Oklahoma in 1998. I joined Dr. Nelson and his staff in July 2015. I enjoy the closeness of our office family and the new relationships established with our patients. I am the office manager and tend to all theneeds of our patients and staff.

If you have any dental anxiety or you're just looking for a great dentist, this is the place for you. They make sure you're comfortable at all times and they don't pass judgment on your lifestyle or financial situations. They are compassionate, gentle, thorough and understanding to your needs. I've had great experiences with fillings, an extraction and a horrible tooth ache that was taken care immediately. This is the best dental team in SWOK.

After reading reviews, I chose this dentist for my family. They got us in quickly for cleanings, scheduled timely appointments for extractions and fillings, and two of my children had decent experiences with the repair work. When it came time for my eight year old to get work done, he wanted me to be present. This office does not allow parents in the room for procedures. I explained the procedure wouldn't happen if I wasn't present and they set up a chair outside the treatment room facing away from my child. We went back and forth and in the end it was just "these are the doctor's rules". So, this health-centered practitioner chose his comfort over the child patient. Caution to those with young patients who need the support of their parents (and should expect it). This isn't the dentist for you.

Had to bring my small children in with me (2 and 5) was dreading the dentist but my tooth hurt so bad I had no choice. His staff literally watched my children for me and went above and beyond to make sure I got what I needed while I saw dr. Nelson. Oh, and Dr. Nelson was the best dentist! You can tell he loves his patients and isn't in it for the money. He's so friendly and non judgemental! My teeth are awful and he proceeded to tell me that anything can be fixed and he would take good care of me. Definitely, going back.
