Few things in the world are more expressive than a smile, and I take pride in helping people keep their smiles healthy and beautiful for a lifetime. I come to work every morning with the hope of improving my patients dental health and awareness, and the knowledge that this will improve their overall well-being.
In the 30-plus years Ive been a dentist, I have realized that my work is not just about helping people physically, but also emotionally. I love building long-term relationships with patients. Each person has his or her own experiences and stories to share. I am humbled when a patient chooses to confide in me. I enjoy the bonds we form, which often become friendships. My patients have become my extended family, and I care for them as such.
I grew up in Adrian where, from a young age, I was interested in teeth: Their different shapes, designs, and how they function intrigued me. After graduating from Adrian Senior High School, I went to Albion College for my BA and the University of Detroit Mercy for my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
One of the biggest responsibilities of being a dentist is keeping up to date on developments in the field. Attending continuing education keeps me current with the latest ideas and technology. From materials to use, improved techniques, and treatments, we can explain options and choices to custom fit the best treatment for each patient.
I have lived in Bedford for 30 years. My wife Melissa is a graduate of Bedford High School. Together we share three children. We are also blessed to still have three surviving parents to learn from and care for.
From the moment you step into our friendly office, youll be welcomed into our dental family. Dental care is not just about oral health. Its about getting to know each person so we can provide patients with the personal care they need. Our patients are like family to us, and we take pride in the many relationships we have developed over the years.
Dental implants can replace a missing tooth without harming the structure of surrounding teeth and may help preserve the jaw bone. Implants can also anchor dentures to make them more stable and retentive. Long-term studies have shown a high success rate for patients with dental implants. And with proper at-home care, under the guidance of your dental care team, they may last a lifetime.
Dental implants are the closest you can get to healthy, natural teeth. They allow you to live the way you want to confidently eating, smiling, laughing, talking, kissing and enjoying all of your everyday activities without worrying about your teeth.
Lets start from the beginning: A dental implant is actually a replacement for the root or roots of a tooth. Like tooth roots, dental implants are secured in the jawbone and are not visible once surgically placed. They are used to secure crowns (the parts of teeth seen in the mouth), bridgework or dentures by a variety of means. They are made of titanium, which is lightweight, strong and biocompatible, which means that it is not rejected by the body. Titanium and titanium alloys are the most widely used metals in both dental and other bone implants, such as orthopedic joint replacements. Dental implants have the highest success rate of any implanted surgical device.
