Metro Smiles Dental is a Forest Hills based family dentist practice that treats patients of all ages. Dr. Block provides general preventative and emergency dental care, including cleanings, root canals, CEREC crowns, laser dentistry, digital X-rays, gum surgery. He specializes in pain management and cosmetic procedures, such as Invisalign, bridges, and teeth whitening. Dr. Block uses the latest technologies in his office. One of these is CEREC Crowns, which are made in-office in less than one hour. He is also an international consultant for the development of new dental technologies, such as laser systems and better x-rays. Dr. Block strives to provide the best professional dentistry in a patient-centered atmosphere. He is fluent in English and Hebrew.
Dr. Daniel Block has been serving the dental needs Forest Hills and Rego Park communities for the past 25 years with the most technologically advanced techniques available in dentistry today. Dr. Block is a lecturer, recently speaking at the World Fair of Dentistry. He owns and operates his own commercial lab, Metro Dental Lab in NY.
The team at Metro Smiles Dental believe in the importance of preventative care. We focus on keeping patients in good oral health so that they can live a full, healthy, and enjoyable life that is free from oral pain. This starts by educating our patients on what they can do to stay healthy at home. In our family dentist office we recommend that patients eat a healthy diet that consists of green leafy vegetables, lean protein, nuts, dairy products, and crunchy fruits and veggies. Eating these foods along with drinking water can help to keep teeth healthy and make them stronger. By simultaneously reducing sugar intake, patients can also reduce their risk of cavities.
It is also important to brush and floss throughout the day. Instead of waiting for bedtime to brush teeth, carry a small toothbrush and use it after meals and snacks. This makes it possible to remove sugar and bacteria from the teeth and gums before it has the opportunity to turn into acid that can attack the teeth. This preventative step can greatly reduce a persons' risk of getting a cavity or gum disease. We understand the importance of taking these steps at home and will spend the time necessary to educate and inform patients so that they can stay healthy overall. Education, after all, is essential for living a long and healthy life.

A. Primary, or 'baby,' teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to come in.
A. First, rinse the irritated area with warm salt water and place a cold compress on the face if it is swollen. Give the child acetaminophen for any pain, rather than placing aspirin on the teeth or gums. Finally, see a dentist as soon as possible.
A. Sealants work by filling in the crevasses on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This shuts out food particles that could get caught in the teeth, causing cavities. The application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for many years.
A. Have your family dentist evaluate the fluoride level of your child's primary source of drinking water. If your child is not getting enough fluoride internally through water (especially if the fluoride level is deficient or if your child drinks bottled water without fluoride), then we may prescribe fluoride supplements.
A. Soft plastic mouthguards can be used to protect teeth, lips, cheeks and gums from sport related injuries. A custom-fitted mouthguard will protect your teeth from injuries and even provide protection from severe injuries to the head.
A. There is very little risk in dental X-rays. Family dentists are especially careful to limit the amount of radiation to which you and your family are exposed. Lead aprons and high-speed film are used to ensure safety and minimize the amount of radiation. Digital x-rays provide an even greater level of protection by using up to 90 percent less radiation.

Honestly the best dentist I've ever been to! Hands down!!! The office is clean, the staff are friendly, and no wait time. I can't thank Dr. Block enough for being so patient with me. I've had bad experiences in the past with other dentists that manifested into dental anxiety. Well, not anymore after today! This was the best experience I've ever had at a dentist. Recently became a new patient of Dr. Block and the office is amazing. Cleanings are wonderful and gentle, Rob at the front desk is very pleasant, Dr. Block's assistant was very nice, and Dr. Block is amazing! A very modern and clean practice with all state of the art of equipment. Fillings done with laser treatment which means no shots and no pain! Practically no wait time and no crowded waiting areas. Cannot compare to any other dental practice I've gone to. Would definitely recommend Dr. Block's office and recommend the yearly membership plan!

Continues to be consistently excellent and above all my expectations and previous experiences. The entire staff is personable and professional, Michael being a perfect example. Doctor Block has always done the right thing for me which has saved my teeth, my health, and my money. Doctor Block has proven again and again to be a Godsend to me. Robbie is a delightful new addition and I hope she will stay. Metrosmiles has allowed me to smile again (and my breath never offends.)

I have been a patient for over 16 years. Dr Block, hygienists Michael and staff are friendly and courteous. Office is clean, short to no waiting time. What I love the best is that crowns are done in one/two days. The same with root canal. Can't ask for better than that!

MetroSmiles is called that for a reason. They always serve the customer with a SMILE! They have given me back my smile many years ago, with extensive work performed on every tooth. After all these years, the quality of the workmanship still looks great and NATURAL. They also educate the customer on the importance of preventative maintenance. Doctor Block and his team are very professional, efficient and caring. He has the latest in equipment and dental technology. He was able to do my crown in a short period of time while I was sitting reading my book in there. I had a surgery laser on my gum, I am very impressed and I didn't feel pain the same way doctor Block explained to me. I trust his work. I highly recommend doctor Block!

I can't say enough great things about MetroSmiles! My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Block since 2011 and we are very satisfied with him and his staff. We've continued our relationship with Dr. Block because of the overall dental experience his office offers. He is very professional, straight forward, more importantly always accessible and his staff is beyond extraordinary, so accommodating, gracious and always work to make our experience smooth. My husband loves the fact that Dr. Block is constantly innovating in terms of tools and equipment, all in the benefit of the patients; also his office is impeccable! It took me many years but I finally found a dental practice that was modern, responsive and professional. I've been going there since Doctor Block took over this practice and Michael became his hygienist. I actually look forward to meeting with them every six months and have lost any of the dread that went with going to a dentist. I expect to be eating hard crusty Italian bread for many more years thanks to them. BTW check out their maintenance program. It will save you money and keep your teeth in great shape. From what I've read good dental hygiene contributes to good overall health significantly.
