Dr. Ricardo A. Perez is a native of Colombia, South America and resides in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife, Christi, and two children, Meagan and Dominick.Dr. Perez has been a practicing pediatric dentist in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area for over 30 years. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Dr. Perez has become a highly regarded expert in pediatric dentistry within the Washington DC community.Having been recognized as one of Washington's best Pediatric Dentists over the past 20 years by the Washingtonian Magazine, Dr. Perez serves as a media spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
'With the legacy of my father and grandfather, dentistry seemed a natural choice for me. I became a pediatric dentist because I love the long term relationship that is established with the young patient. Having the opportunity and privilege to educate and be a positive role model for my patients from an early age through college is gratifying.'
After graduating from the University of Santo Thomas School of Dentistry in 1987, Dr. Perez came to the United States to specialize in Pediatric Dentistry. He completed the Pediatric Dentistry residency program at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 1991 where he maintains his privileges as a staff member. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the District of Columbia Dental Society and the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Prior to your first visit you might cross paths with Dr. Perez while he is supporting a local school fundraiser or even visiting a local school promoting dental health.Dr. Perez also enjoys giving back whether it's on a mission trip to Guatemala providing dental care for Mayan children, on a Native American reservation in North Dakota at the Standing Rock,here in Washington DC withthe Spanish Catholic Center's dental clinic or with the John Carroll Society.
Jennifer is a warm and welcoming dental hygienist who greatly adores children. She has over 30 years of experience with patients of all ages. On her free time, Jennifer enjoys cooking and tending her garden.
Vanessa is a welcoming and sweet office manager who loves children! She oversees the smooth running daily operations of the office, from scheduling and website maintenance, to keeping you up to date on our social media outlets. She is attending George Washington University for a Masters in Health Administration.
Carolinas calm and reassuring nature eagerly awaits your child for their next visit! She studied dentistry at Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia where she received her dental degree. When she is not in the office she enjoys Salsa dancing and taking long bike rides in Washington, DC.

'Ive been a client of Dr. Perez for 18 years. As a kid, I remember loving my dentist appointments. The waiting room always had fun games, the staff were so kind and friendly, and Dr. Perez always took the time to sit next to me and ask me tons of questions about my life (even when there were so many patients to take care of!). As a young adult, I have continued to love my dentist visits. I have always had healthy, cavity-free teeth and owe much of that to Dr. Perez and his amazing staff. They not only do thorough cleanings and check ups, but they have also taught me how to take care of my teeth. Dr. Perez and his staff create such a fun loving environment for their patients. I couldn't recommend coming here enough!

My son has been going to Dr. Perez since he was little. I can't say enough about how great he is - very personable and excellent at what he does. His staff is also very friendly and helpful. I don't think we could find a better dentist.

My child has been a patient of Dr. Perez's since she was three years old. The good doctor and his staff are always professional and friendly -- adherents to high dental standards while putting their young patients at ease. My child will age out this year and we will miss this wonderful office but I will always refer anyone who asks to Metropolitan Pediatric Dentistry if they want a pediatric dentist who offers excellent service.

We have been bringing our three boys to Dr. Perez since they were little which was far too many years ago. I cannot say enough good things about him and his staff. There has never been an issue. Having a child with autism, finding someone with the patience and understanding to handle their differences is not easy and he, actually, looks forward to going to the dentist. If they can handle him with such ease, any and every child will love them as much as ours have.

There are good dentists, there are great dentists...and then there is Dr. Perez and the team at Metropolitan Pediatrics. Listen, my wife and I are critical consumers of medical and dental care, but we have been absolutely blown away by this practice. The customer service on the phone and at the front desk is consistently friendly and responsive. Our kids (6, 4 and 1) absolutely LOVE the game room, colorful and clean environment, and little toys that accompany every visit. And Dr. Perez is equally informed and warm to patients - he knows his stuff but is always attentive and caring in the way that he communicates. I've never known kids actually looking forward to going to the dentist before we came to this practice. We can't recommend them highly enough!

My 9-year-old son had significant trauma to his front tooth. It broke in a fall and had nerve exposure. I was referred to Dr. Perez for his care. When we connected, I was blown away by his compassion, support, and professionalism. He coordinated multiple visits with specialists and we were able to be seen immediately for the tooth's repair. He continued to support my son's care and identified specialists for the tooth's reconstruction. I cannot begin to explain how appreciative we are to Dr. Perez. He personalizes your dental care and makes you feel like the top priority. He is a true service leader in healthcare and dentistry. Dr. Perez is nothing short of incredible.

Doctor Ricardo Perez had been our dentist for almost 10 years. Our kids love going to his office! Doctor Perez is professional and friendly and always makes time to answer questions. We have had two separate incidents with our 9 year old son, both happened over the weekend and required immediate attention. Dr. Perez was able to help us and guide us to the best solution. We are extremely grateful to him and his staff for always providing such great care of our children.

When I was a kid, I dreaded going to the dentist. I think my son looks forward to his visits with Dr. Perez and staff. Great office, clean and comfortable, very friendly and welcoming people. Good COVID protocols. I would recommend Dr. Perez to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist without hesitation.

We really enjoy this practice! I brought my daughter here first when she was two and this year was our second year back. My daughter doesn't speak English well yet (only Russian and Spanish) and it really helped that Dr. Peretz spoke Spanish overall, the environment is very welcoming, there are plenty of toys and entertainment in the waiting area, the service is top quality and prompt. They also give cute gifts for kids - my daughter is never scared to go there.

As caretaker for my five grandchildren (Granny Nanny), I have accompanied my five grandchildren for their visits to Metropolitan Pediatric Dentistry. These children are now 14 (triplets), 18 and 20 years and have been patients of Dr. Perez and his dedicated team for eight or nine years. I can say, without exception, that we have always been treated with respect, courteous interactions and professionalism. Dr. Perez and his team always meet with me after the exams for a full discussion of the day's treatment. The pleasant hygienists are thorough and ask permission before completing any procedures. Our family recommends this practice and all that are employed in the office due to the continuing positive experiences. Of course, this is our personal opinion but we encourage you to try this group for your child's dental health.

I can't say enough about Dr. Ricardo Perez and his amazing staff! I have been taking my five year old to another dentist since she was two. A few months ago she began complaining of a tooth ache. I took her to her dentist three times and he kept saying it was nothing. Finally I switched to Dr. Perez who immediately validated her pain and unfortunately had to extract her tooth. I am so thankful that I brought her here. Dr. Perez's warmth and professionalism is unparalleled! Despite the dental work my daughter loves going there and seeing all the friendly faces! I can't recommend Dr. Perez enough!

Best Pediatric Dentist - in my kids words When we were referred to DR Perez by our pediatrician when asked for a pediatric dentist as my younger son had some yellow teeth at age of 1.5years, we couldn't be happier. His clinic is very inviting, comfortable and staff are super friendly. He came to the rescue when I frantically reached out to him post working hours when my young son ( only 2 years at the time) had an accident and a heavily bleeding mouth after bumping his face ( upper teeth / gun area ) into a wooden chair. I called and was thrilled he was there answering the line in the other side ( unlike others who you find yourself diverted to voice mail advising you to go to emergency room if urgent), he calmly walked me through what needs to be done after asking me to send a picture, instructed me on how to soothe his aching bleeding gum and pain management at home until he sees him next day. I will be forever grateful, having access to your doctor in an emergency as such that's priceless!!! Fast forward - May 2020 - post Covid we were approached by his office to check if we are able to confirm our earlier scheduled appointments, advising us of protocols they have in place to ensure everyones' safety , after initial hesitation we went ahead as planned, and so glad we did. Was first time out after COVID lockdown , anxious not knowing what to expect, I was instantly comfortable when stepped in the clinic seeing measures in place very diligently following all ; seats in waiting area spaced 6 ft apart, staff in masks or PPE, temperature checks, questionnaires filled etc. it was a sigh of relief and so happy we went ahead and had our kids check-ups as scheduled. I highly recommend DR Perez and his office staff. Very professional, very friendly, and always there to help.

I have been a client of Dr. Perez for +25 years! In 1993 my pregnant mother took my 2-year-old sister to see Dr. Perez as she had damaged a front tooth. Dr. Perez proceeded to get down on his knees, to my sisters line of sight, and talk to her one-on-one. My sister and I have been seeing him ever since! Dr. Perez has become family to us, and he treats us like such. He is loving, energetic, compassionate, kind, and meticulous in his craft. Dr. Perez has performed all types of procedures on both my sister and I, from annual cleanings to root canals. My sister and I do not live in Washington, DC anymore, but refuse to see anyone else! When we come home for the holidays or to see family, one of the stops is always Dr. Perez as he is now part of our family!

Dr. Ricardo Perez and his staff are amazing! For the past two years, my children (now 4 and 5 years old) are part of Metropolitan Pediatric Dentistry's family. Dr. Perez and his team are friendly, professional, accessible, and always have a smile. The office is beautiful, organized, clean and they follow all Covid 19 protocols. He treats my kids with caring, kindness, respect and explains to them all the processes with sweet and simple words. Dr. Perez is the best pediatric dentist in the DC region, and his staff is the best. I highly recommend it.

Dr. Perez is a great dentist. He came highly recommended and we have been so pleased with dental care. His staff is fabulous as well. My kids really enjoy the visits, Dr. Perez explains everything very clearly, and my kids have had great dental health. His staff will help submit the dental forms as well.

If there is word that could summarize my assessment of Dr. Perez's practice is "trust". My six year old had a dental emergency early this week. She was in real pain. I called Dr. Perez's office, hoping to get a call back. I was quickly connected to Dr. Perez who asked me some questions and had me bring my daughter to his office within the hour. He undertook a successful procedure and she was home in time for the online closing circle of her first grade class. From the time you enter in the office (whether virtually and/or in persona) until you leave, everybody is so incredibly helpful and processional and you feel at home. Dr. Perez called back at night to check how my daughter was doing. He was there when I needed him most and took my daughter out of pain. His entire team is outstanding. I would not dream of trusting my children's dental well-being to anyone else.
