X-ray technology is necessary for determining the health of your teeth and gums so dentists can diagnose and treat conditions unnoticeable to the naked eye. While traditional radiographs were the only optional available for many years, digital technology has made taking x-rays more convenient for both patient and doctor, providing immediate images for more precise diagnoses.
During your examination, a variety of electronic sensors are used to capture high resolution images that will be instantly delivered to a nearby computer. This allows the dentist to zoom in and magnify the images to identify the early stages of tooth decay or the smallest cracks. Our dentists will also have the ability to check the health of the surrounding bone and joints. With digital technology, your images can be easily stored and kept for easy access so the dentist can compare past and current x-rays to locate any changes. In addition, digital x-rays emit much less radiation, making them a safer option.
Traditional gum surgery involves the use of scalpels and sutures, and generally requires a long recovery with a higher risk of infection. With the introduction of the diode soft tissue laser, dental procedures have become more comfortable and recovery periods significantly shortened. The diode soft tissue laser uses high-powered light energy in varying wavelengths to penetrate soft tissue. Because it can trim and seal tissue simultaneously, it results in reduced post-op discomfort, less bleeding, and faster recovery.
