Dr. Gary Simms is most known for his calm, caring demeanor and ability to help produce fantastic results for his clients. While most dentists have the ability to help clients, not all have the passion and care for clients. Dr. Simms loves what he does, and knows the importance of changing someones smile, both functionally and cosmetically; the results often positively change someones entire life, not just their smile. This is a cause Dr. Gary Simms does not take lightly, and treats all clients with the care and dignity they rightfully deserve.
Dr. Gary Simms was born in England, but raised in Queens most of his adolescent and adult life. In 1991, Dr. Simms obtained his bachelors degree in Science at the University of New York. After getting his degree, Dr. Simms went on to obtain his D.M.D. degree at the University of New Jersey School of Dental Medicine. While at the University of New Jersey, Dr. Simms participated in a number of outreach programs that included visits to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. Following dental school, Dr. Simms went to complete his dental residency at Peninsula Hospital located in Far Rockaway, New York. After getting his degrees, Dr. Simms opened up a practice in Bronx, New York from 1997 to 2006. Since then Dr. Simms has moved to Georgia and owns Metro Decatur Dental Group P.C from 2006 to present time. Dr. Simms is dedicated to immediate dentures for full mouth rehabilitation and provides his patients with a caring and comprehensive approach to oral health. He uses his extensive experience to provide the highest level of dental care to his patients with the utmost respect. Dr. Simms believes a conservative, preventative dentistry, and his goal is to increase the longevity of his patients teeth.
Lawanda Ferguson is our Office Manager who graduated from Advanced Career Technical Center for Dental Assisting in 2001. Lawanda started as dental assistant who worked her way to becoming an office manager for over 15 years. Lawanda is originally from South Carolina and has 3 daughters. Lawanda loves camping,sports, and anything outdoors! Shes committed to educating patients on their dental insurance and meeting their dental needs!
Devin Draggs was born in Detroit, MI and relocated to Georgia as a child to ensure a better future. I was raised by loving parents in the Decatur/Stone Mountain area and soon developed an eye for detail and a habit of nurturing. Wanting to be a Dentist since a kid led me to Clayton State where I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2013. Aside from being a hygienist I am a chef with my own catering business, a fashion and music junkie, and also a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

We were referred to this dentist due to them taking the insurance we have. Dentist that saw us was very rude and argumentative, no customer service/bedside manner and no regard for patient, to the point my son got up to leave (which he has never done before and he has anxiety about the dentist. We were told he would need "thousands of dollars to treat and yall don't have that kind of money...I'm not doing it. I'll give you a referral" and walked out. Very rude. We have never experienced anything like this in my life. I highly recommend you find another dentist.

It's funny remembering this one time going here in 2018..it was on my company insurance..I went to get a extraction..but the talk with the dentist was all about cost...So it was a quick pull out..give me some penicillin and I'm gone..But this lead to within 2 weeks of jaw pain..going to Gradys Emergency Room..and a unexpected oral surgery one Tuesday afternoon..after leaving work..eventually having me in Grady Hospital for 4 days..in bed..All behind a extraction.

It never fails I come in for one thing they always trying to do something. Else I came for a deep cleaning my appointment was at 10:30 it's 11:30 I only got a x ray and I'm being told you done now when no one has come to clean my teeth. They saw they mistake and still had me sitting and waiting n the "deep cleaning " took seconds I went to my orthodontist a day ago n they took better care just getting my braces off throughly cleaning them n I come to my dentist for a deep cleaning and it's like I brushed my own teeth

I should've listened to the reviews and looked for another dental place. This place is ghetto, the staff talking to each other across the halls, walking in and out of the place. I waited for 2.5 hours just to NOT get the cleaning that my insurance paid for! I do not recommend.

My daughter had her first cleaning today. She immediately came home and stated can we change dentist. She stated the lady was rough, rude and she was in the chair less than 5 to 8 minutes. She stated she brush her teeth better than that. I'm sure the insurance will get billed for a full cleaning but I'll be contacting them as well.

I am very grateful to be a patient at Metro Decatur Dental. Dr. Simms is a dentist who is very knowledgeable and up to date with the latest dental options for his patients. He is also very personable. He genuinely cares and was willing to work with me to provide the dental services I needed while taking into consideration my budget! His office Manager Lawanda Ferguson is awesome also! She provided me with the insurance information that I needed to get the best insurance for my dental needs. All of the staff at MDD are professional and caring!

The best and most helpful dentist I have ever been to. Dr. Sims is amazing but more importantly his staff has always made me feel welcomed comfortable and knows me by name every time I come in. This is by far the best dentist and staff... I would recommend him to anyone I came in to see him feeling pretty hopeless and now I have the most beautiful smile that I could ask for thank you! Excellent!!! Straight forward! I wish I would have found this Doctor years ago. Everyone was pleasant even the officer manager, everyone is about taking care of business and the patients. The assistant Shay kept checking on me while I waited on the Doctor! Would definitely recommend. For fast, straight to the point care and service!!

Awful experience here. I waited 1.5 hours from appointment time each visit. Had a appointment for wisdom teeth extraction on right side 3 wksin advance. They numbed my extraction area and then say"oh, these are wisdom teeth, we will have to refer you, the numbness will go away in 4hrs.... then asked me to come back for my refund the next day.... I left drooling and my time was wasted. I will never go back, nor refer anyone.

I decided to go back after I learned there was another staff there. Well never again the young lady at the desk is rude, confrontational, and she lies told me they had no supplies to get my crown done. She puts me on hold for the manager the manager was nice she tells me to come on in. When I arrive the young rude lady at the desk rolls her eyes when I tell her my name. Unacceptable I refuse to continue to give this place chance after chance to be treated rude and lied to and she doesn't get reprimanded for her actions. I work hard for my money I will find me another dentist.
