Dr. Chris Metcalf is a third-generation dentist in Oak Brook, Illinois. Metcalf Dental opened in the 1930s and continues to remain an office of high-esteem. Our dentist offers many services ranging from cosmetic to restorative treatments. We also offer treatments for facial esthetics, helping patients to create a more youthful look.
Our dentist also works with specialists in the area to provide patients with long-lasting results that are right for the patients needs. Dr. Metcalf will assess your smiles current state of health and will then create a personalized treatment plan for you to help you reach and maintain your optimal level of oral health.
Dr. Chris Metcalf completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Methodist University before attending dental school at the University of Illinois in Chicago, graduating with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1996. He continues his education frequently, including a Spear Education course in Airway Prosthodontics in February 2019 and November 2018. He has also received advanced training in cosmetic and implant dentistry, laser surgery, and facial esthetics.
Dr. Metcalf is a third-generation dentist. His family has been in dentistry for over 80 years, and his father, grandfather and uncle were also dentists. As a dentist, his goal is to provide conservative care that will keep his patients healthy, promoting not only oral health but helping them to take care of their overall well-being. He is dedicated to helping his patients understand the connection between the mouth and overall health, and loves being part of helping people live longer, healthier lives with beautiful smiles.
Dr. Metcalf has practiced in the Oak Brook area for over 22 years, and in 2019, he was named a Top General Dentist by Chicago Magazine. He is a member of several professional organizations, including:
Dr. Metcalf has been married for over 25 years, and has two sons and one daughter. He loves the outdoors and is interested in fitness, and has raced sailboats with his father and brother for over 40 years.

Meet Our Team Melissa Melissa serves as director of operations and has been a part of Metcalf Dental since February 2012. She is usually the first smiling face that will welcome you when you enter our office. Melissa has vast experience in patient coordination and scheduling, and insurance and patient account management. She is proud of the friendly and warm environment that is uniquely Metcalf Dental.
Margaret Margaret has been an essential part of Metcalf Dental since 2015. She began her dental career as our sterilization coordinator and then incorporated assisting Dr. Chris part time. Margaret now serves as our lead dental assistant.
Stephanie Since Stephanie was 8 years old, she knew she wanted to be in the dental field. After working as an orthodontic assistant, she obtained her degree in applied Sciences in dental hygiene along with certifications in administration of local anesthetic and nitrous oxide.
Stephanie joined Metcalf Dental in the summer of 2017 and is the lead dental hygienist. She prides herself in the quality of her work and her ability to educate patients regarding their oral health and that connection to the body. Stephanie is continually expanding and building upon her dental knowledge so that she may provide the optimal, yet tailored, standard of care to each patient. She builds a solid rapport with every patient and is particularly gifted in helping ease any dental anxiety you may have.

I have been going to Dr. Metcalf for 6 years now. His office is not the most convenient for me and I recently switched insurance companies making Chris out of network for me but I will NOT switch dentists. Dr. Metcalf and his team get me in and out and I feel like they always have my health in their best interest. I trust them and I know I'm in the best hands. Thanks Dr M and team!!! If you have to go to the dentist, which we all do, this is the place to go. Great dentist and staff; they do terrific work, and somehow manage to make it enjoyable.

I do not like going to the dentist but I do like going to see Dr.Chris at Metcalf Dental. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Great place to get your teeth looked at!

I always "enjoy" going to Metcalf Dental. Isn't that a strange thing to say about dental visits? The staff is friendly and professional and has really increased my awareness of how oral health is part of overall health care. I would recommend them to anyone looking for personalized dental care.

My family and I have been going to Metcalf Dental for many many years. We love this family practice located close to home in Oak Brook. They are so friendly and are able to take care of anything from teeth cleaning to any intricate dental procedure. I highly recommend Metcalf Dental!

I couldn't recommend Dr. Metcalf and his staff enough. My fiance and I are both patients of his and we've had nothing but great experiences. Apart from the high standards of care, a major highlight of the practice is the staff. From scheduling an appointment, to getting your teeth cleaned, the staff are beyond friendly and welcoming. Everything feels very personal. Dr. Metcalf himself is very professional and knowledgeable while still being really personable. Stephanie has been my dental hygienist several times now and after each visit I leave with a great smile and more knowledge to keep it looking that way. Like I said in the beginning, I couldn't recommend them enough. 5 stars all around.

Well deserved five star rating. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and professional at the same time. It is obvious that it is a happy well run office with everyone doing their work cheerfully and diligently. I feel that I am in good hands with Dr Metcalf and his team.

My wife and I have been treating at Dr. Chris's office for the past five years. We are very happy with the professional and personal treatment provided by everyone in the office. Melissa always greets you by name at the door with a happy smile; Margaret makes you feel comfortable and at ease while assisting; Stephanie is a great hygienist who does a thorough job, she always explains everything as she is doing it and makes great recommendations; Vee makes sure everything goes smoothly with my insurance and future appointments; Dr. Chris provides excellent care and compassion and only recommends treatment that is truly beneficial to my health.

Dr Chris Metcalf and staff are friendly and communicative; they tell you When a tooth or gum issue is discovered and how to remedy the issue. The office staff are very efficient and office itself is very COVID19 clean! They spray chairs; doors and handles down after every patient. And have you wash your hands often to prevent disease. My family has been visiting the Metcalf Dental team for many, many years and highly recommend.
