Lasers are a non-surgical approach to arresting the progression of periodontal disease. Following scaling and root planing, a laser is used to significantly reduce the bacterial colonies and decontaminate the infected periodontal pocket. Lasers also remove the infected tissue lining the periodontal pocket. As the infected tissue is removed, microscopic blood clots form and your body's natural healing response takes over. As you heal, the tissue reattaches to the bone and your gums return to a healthy infection-free state.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is an advanced, proven technology that provides more precise three-dimensional (3D) imaging for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral health conditions. 3D dental X-rays can uncover issues that may not be detectable with 2D X-rays. Worst experience I've ever had at a dentist office and was extorted for money. Here's what happened; Set an appointment to get a filling and while I was at it, figured I'd get my teeth bleached. After paying for x-rays and buying a "membership" for discounts, I was told I had a gum infection and had to have a fairly expensive "teeth and gum" cleaning with a super duper, futuristic laser and an antibiotic mouth rinse. OK, you're the experts, you say its "dire", I'll bite (no pun intended). They also found half of a filling from a previous visit was missing. Ok, in other industries, that's considered warranty work, but sure, I'll pay again. After sitting in a chair for 4 hours, I was fitted for the broken filling and had a dentist scratch at my teeth for about 15 minutes with a metal pick. Um, that's the same procedure I've had done since I was 5. Where's the handy dandy laser that was so important, vital and dire (and expensive!!)...? Antibiotics rinse (charged X's 4 for that, for each "quadrant" of my mouth, but how do i rinse 1/4th of my mouth? Why charge me 4 times? You rinse your ENTIRE mouth every time, so why have me do it 4 times? Am i to only swish water in 1/4th of my mouth each time...? That literally makes no sense unless you conclude it to be what it is; a way to charge somebody 4 times for an action that can be done once) dude gave me a Dixie cup, which I would argue was water because no special instructions were given and it sure didn't taste like anything. So after 4 hours, and thousands of dollars for "dire treatments needed" I had my teeth scratched with a metal pick and fitted for a broken filling and told "all done with the "dire" teeth cleaning. Again, when they charged me for a "laser" I was told in no uncertain terms it was absolutely necessary-AND NEVER USED IT!!! Now it's After 7 pm, I literally sat in the room for hours by myself and they asked "how are you doing?" Not good, I was grossly overcharged for treatments that weren't performed, been here for hours, never got my teeth bleached, didnt get the filling I originally came in for, so after being charged for treatments, then getting the ole switcheroo and waiting around for hours and being nowhere close to being done, I threw in the towel. I was still charged for procedures that service was never rendered for on top of my above complaint. Hey, Mesa Modern Dentistry, if you want to examine my bill and find what I was charged for but the service wasn't performed and send me a refund, I'd appreciate it. And no, I won't be coming back.

My 31 year old son went here last year. They are harassing me for his bill saying I am responsible. He wants to pay his bill but they will not call him back. I am a retired senior and this is making my wife and I sick. Should I call the BBB? It's impossible to get this straightened out by phoning their billing staff.

This is the only Dentist my stubborn, picky husband will actually go see and Dr Erwin has been very good and helpful (and patient). Turned my husband who hadn't seen a dentist in maybe 10 years to an every 6 month patient now :) thanks Dr Erwin!

My experience was HORRIBLE! Another patient who needed 15K worth of dental work they said, "but the good news is, with your insurance it will only be " 4k not counting the 8k for implants, for all the teeth they wanted to pull. The dentist kept poking into my gums to make them bleed on purpose and didn't even care. I can't believe people rate them well!

I can't say enough about Dr.Erwin and his Dental Assistant, Nayely. I had a mid afternoon perio appt (thanks Angel) and turns out I needed needed two crowns. Start to finish they were professional, kind, and personable. It was a pain free process and they both willingly stayed very late to make sure everything. was finished correctly. The entire staff at Modern Dentistry is amazing and they all deserve a big shout out. See you next time!
