Our new state of the art office has all the latest dental technology, immaculate sterilization techniques, in a beautiful spacious setting. Our beach themed office features a beach shack in the waiting room, a Boardwalk hallway and uniquely decorating treatment rooms. It is no wonder that Dr. Elbazs patients look forward to their next visit. Whether its a favorite show on our flat screen TVs, a favorite game on the iPAD, our craft table in the waiting room, or their favorite books, your child will feel right at home!
To be called a pediatric dentist, we had to take another two to three years of child-specific training after we finished our dental school requirements. During this time, we studied child psychology so that we are able to talk to children in a gentle yet effective way.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that children see a dentist (and more importantly a pediatric one) before they are one year old. It is also recommended that children come in about six months after the first tooth starts to come in. Many think that this seems early, but it is important for your children to get used to the dentist and for you to learn about preventive care for good dental health.
During these early visits, a pediatric dentist will be able to monitor the health of your childrens mouths. They are here for parents to discuss home care (especially home care that doesnt cause tears) and how to prevent cavities and oral injuries at home. Pediatric dentists can also be helpful to stop unwanted oral habits such as thumb sucking.
This time is also used to answer any questions you have about preventive care and the treatment of any problems that your children may be having. We may also perform preventive treatments such as fluoride or sealants.
Because many people fear the dentist, pediatric dentists want to start children off early. We will do everything we can to make sure that children feel comfortable and safe while in our care. Our office is colorful and fun so that your children will want to come back!
While your children are in our office, we focus on many things. The first is the prevention of tooth decay. It is almost entirely preventable with good home care, though there are times when we apply fluoride or sealants to help.
We are also looking for problems that may develop later. Examinations and X-rays can help us detect malocclusions, problems with grinding, and potential jaw regularities early. Most of these cases can be fixed more easily if they are caught early.
As pediatric dentists, we offer many forms of treatment in addition to preventive care. We can perform pulp therapy, and we are always here in case of an accident near the mouth. We commonly recommend spacers for patients who lose their teeth too early.
We are here to educate our patients and their parents. It is our goal to make sure that everyone understands how important brushing and flossing teeth is. We can also discuss toothpaste, diet, problems your children may be having, and much more.
It is always our goal to stay up to date with the latest advances in dental medicine so that your children have healthy teeth. Children who dont come visit us regularly may miss out on some preventive treatments that could help them.
Dr. Rania Elbaz is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist. She grew up in several different countries and moved to Long Island with her family in High School. She loved the New York area and has not left ever since. She is a proud graduate of Sandford H. Calhoun High School right here in Merrick! Dr. Rania completed her undergraduate education at Barnard College, Columbia University Cum laude, with a major in Biology and minor in Political Science. She then went on to dental school at Columbias College of Dental Medicine. She completed her pediatric dental training at UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School while also completing her Masters in Dental Science examining genetic susceptibility genes for caries (cavities) in children.
Dr. Rania loves working with children and helping create a healthy and pleasant environment that children look forward to visiting. She is very excited to be able to give back to the Merrick Community and provide the best possible care for her hometown. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is always attending courses in order to stay current with all the recent developments in the field. Dr. Rania is also a proud member of the Merrick Chamber of Commerce and appreciates the importance of such organizations in Merrick and the surrounding towns that make this community such a wonderful place to live.
She loves traveling and exploring new cultures. She also loves going to the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving, biking and anything involving the outdoors. She enjoys spending time with her husband Zachary and her two beautiful children, Amir and Noora.
Our staff is specially trained to provide not only the best care, but also the best overall experience for you and your child. All of our staff members are well trained in child psychology and filled with compassion and understanding. They love working with children of all ages. We will do everything that we can to ensure that your child has a good visit.

We love MPD and Dr. Elbaz! The whole staff is great too. The recently stopped taking our insurance so we have to find another dentist, my boys are sad. My oldest gets cavities ALL the time and Dr. Elbaz is always gentle and patient. And my oldest hast gotten worse and worse at getting them filled (his own issue, nothing to do with the Dr). Last time he seemed to have another, very small cavity. Dr. Elbaz gave me the option of filling it or waiting as it wasn't an issue as it was. In an effort to give my son a break and not ALWAYS having a cavity to be filled. We appreciated it. We will miss Dr. Elbaz, and if our insurance or their policy changes we will gladly go back.

This entire office is amazing! My high anxiety, high emotion daughter came in for her first dentist appointment, and didn't even cry! Such a relief to have a gentle, reassuring receptionists, nurse and dentist. A great experience.

Major billing issues!! I like the office because my kids are very comfortable there. They are never scared to go and we get a lot of cavities filled. My main issue is that the office bills me EVERY single time we visit. I have two insurance policies and should not be paying a dime. I always have to question why they are billing me and they give me some run around about that is what I owe because my insurance doesn't cover everything. When I contact my insurance company I am told I am covered. Upon calling the office again I am told everything is covered. This bothers me because if I don't question the bill and just pay it, they would just take my money. This happens every time without fail and has me thinking about finding somewhere else to go.

Dr. Rania and the staff at Merrick Pediatric Dentistry are the best! The office is beautiful and clean. My kids teeth were a mess when we started and they didn't make it easy on her either! From kicking and screaming the first visit to full cooperation the second visit. Dr. Rania was very patient and explained each procedure in detail. They quickly realized that she is true to her word, what she says will happen, actually happens! Dr. Rania and her staff have definitely made dental visits a whole lot less stressful. The twins are 7 now and love going to the office and setting a good example for their 3 year old sister!

Dr. Rania is hands down the best pediatric dentist I have ever taken my kids too. After horrid experiences of rushed dentists that extract teeth without proper procedure and having children that were petrified of going, we all now LOVE going to the dentist. My children looks forward to their appointments and love Dr.Rania so much. Everything she does is with ease and lots of helpful, kid friendly explanation. She's extracted teeth for my kids and done fillings, and never were they anxious, in pain or distress because she has such a bond and way with the kids that she perfectly distracts them. I wish she did adults too because I would be running into her chair! I've referred so many friends and they all absolutely love her for their kids. I drive all the way from Queens because Dr.Rania El Baz is definitely the way to go if u want the best pediatric dentist for your kids!

We just came back from Merrick Pediatric Dentistry and it was an incredible visit as it always is. My son unfortunately had a cavity that he needed to be taken care of and I was a worried mess. Dr. Rania made my son and I feel comfortable. She explained everything step by step and made sure he and I were ready before she began. She was patient with my son and extremely gentle. Dr. Rania gave him encouraging words throughout. What I am most grateful is Dr. Rania's "bedside manners". Even though my son is 8, she gives him his due respect. She explains everything she does to him before and while the visit. She gives him advice on how to take better care of his teeth. She speaks directly to him, not just to the adult with him. And my son really appreciates the stickers, the new tooth brush and especially the prizes he gets every visit. And at check out, the front desk staff is so accommodating. They make sure that they can get everything covered through insurance and if not give you a quote of the costs so that there are no surprises. The office is always immaculate and the staff is so friendly and professional. We have been with Merrick Pediatrics for 6 years and are so pleased with the staff and service each and every visit. I highly recommend Dr. Rania and the whole staff at Merrick Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Rania is one of the most caring and intelligent doctors I know. My husband and I have been taking our daughter for check ups with Dr. Rania since our daughter was a toddler. From the beginning, both the Dr. and her staff were warm and welcoming. The office decor itself makes children feel at ease. Though initially our daughter was hesitant about having her teeth cleaned, Dr. Rania just had a special way of making her feel comfortable. She really has a special way of connecting with children. I highly recommend this practice.
