Dr. Katechis graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a degree of Bachelor of Science in 1995. Graduating in the top 10% of his class, Dr. Katechis received a Degree in Stomatology from P.J. Safarik University in Kosice. He received a post-graduate certificate in Prosthodontics from New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Katechis then completed a three year fellowship at New York University College Dentistry leading to a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS). He is fluent in English, Greek and has some knowledge in Slovak.

DO NOT DO NOT COME TO here the staff here is outrageous I called to ask who was the lady I spoke to that told me she couldn't make me anymore appointments because I was talking over her then they lied to me they gave me about 2 different appointment in one day because they over booked and then told me not to be upset when they told me they have to reschedule me if I'm five minutes late please find a better place the staff here is awful please don't be a victim of this place the staff is awful !!!!

Ok, I do not write reviews normally, but I felt I have to this time. I just called this place and tried to schedule the appointment. The person who answered, was not nice. She could not wait for me to provide her with insurance information. She was kinda rude, saying that she can't verify my insurance without SSN, when my previous dentist could verify it with the plan number, date of birth and the name of employer, without SSN. She rushed to end the conversation as soon as possible. It looks like they do not care about attracting new patients at all or about providing a good fist impression.

This is definitely the worst dental place on Long Island. There only purpose is to scam your insurance. They kept making promises to do things that . NEEDED! To be done , and each time there was an excuse. Good by merrick dental

The absolutely worst!!!! Tell you one time for your appointment and change it without you knowing ! Turn around and then try to charge you money, when it's their fault!!!! Nasty and rude staff! Hangs up phones in clients faces! They are literally the worse facility! The dentists are actually good ! The staff behind them are the real problem. They spend most of their time talking among each other instead of doing their jobs! I do NOT recommend!!!!

If you are the kind of person that enjoys forming genuine relationships with your healthcare providers, then this is your office and Natalie is your hygienist. She is incredibly efficient and gentle, and puts in the effort to answer any dental related questions you may have. Honestly, her capabilities alone were enough to make myself and my family faithful patients. But beyond that Natalie is just a pleasure to be around. Natalie makes every visit feel like a friendly catch up, and the warmth of her personality shines through every appointment. She genuinely makes the room a bit brighter, and makes going to the dentist feel like something to look forward to.

I called because the website states they do root canal and have oral surgeon. Please tell me why the receptionist tells me there is no oral surgeon and dont do root canal and hung up the phone. Very rude. I hope the owners know that they are saying no oral surgeons on hand. If thats the case update your website.

Very unprofessional. They canceled my appointment and snuck me in for 12:30pm when originally it was supposed to be a 9:00am appointment. This happened to me twice. The receptionist informed me that the dentist on staff canceled my appointment to schedule in a friend instead.

My coworker Stephanie went here so I thought I would give it a shot. I had pain in my teeth and my other dentist just taped my tooth and asked which one hurt and sent me to an endodontist. She didn't even tell me why I was feeling the pain

Let me preface this review by stating, to date, I've only left one other review (1 star at mavis). I'm not often vocal unless the service is exceptional one way or another. Today was exceptionally good for having a wisdom tooth removed. Not only was I seen moments after walking in, but the staff made me feel light about the procedure. I was quite nervous, I've been putting this off for some time. Next the doctor injected the Novacaine. He did so painlessly and warned me just before a quick pinch, but in a way that helped take the sting out. After a few minutes of numbing came the extraction. IT WAS PAINLESS. Felt nothing, and it took less than 1 minute to do. My words were "No way! That was so quick". Ok, if I'm being completely fair, the tooth was quite rotted, so I'm sure it was an "easy tooth to pull". Never the less, there was a skill about the extraction. It was by no means his first. TLDR: Friendly staff, skilled doctor, painless wisdom tooth removal

DISGUSTING patient service!! DO NOT go here!! Receptionists and office manager have ZERO patient care!! I was called to reschedule my appointment the EVENING before because the dentist would not be in. Upon the day of my rescheduled appointment I was told I did not have an appointment and I had to pay a $50 no show fee for my previous appointment which they called and canceled!!!! They had no record of this!!! The receptionist was so rude and the office manager did not want to speak to me and the receptionist repeatedly stated: this is what I have here in front of me, there is nothing I can do, you have to pay the fee in order to make an appointment. To make matters worse.....the receptionist HUNG UP the phone on me!!!! DISGUSTING AND UNPROFESSIONAL...DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST OFFICE!!!!

The doctor is rude and does not care about what's best for patients, my cleaning was about 2 minutes long and felt like I just brushed my own teeth at home, she literally walked out with my bib left on me. She did not care at all or show any enthusiasm or interest in treating my dental needs. Treated me like I was just another number. The rest of the staff was great, front desk ladies were very pleasant & professional.. the assistant who took me in was great, he was very professional & pleasant as well. Find a doctor who actually cares like the rest of the staff.

Such a great experience from the second I walked in the door. Very professional, nice, polite and clean. Went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable every step of the way. Worlds apart from my last dentist. So glad I found them! I will be bringing my children next. Thank you!

Dr. Tasso is not only nasty and rude but he's extremely bad at his job. He's not a reliable dentist, I questioned his judgment when he said I needed 9 cavities filled along with two root canals, good thing I did because I got a second opinion and only needed TWO CAVITIES filled. At this point, I already had one root canal done with him and it was the most painful, most drawn out experience I've ever had at a dentist. When I went back in extreme pain because I thought he had hit a nerve with the nova-cane needle, he told me I had just bitten my cheek while I was numb and dismissed me by saying " I don't even need to look in your mouth" and walked out of the room. He's very critical and cold and I recommend going somewhere else because I can 100% blame this place for me now having a phobia of dentists, Thanks a bunch Dr Tasso

If I could give 0 stars I would. I'd like to start this review directed towards not the doctors or techs but particularly the front desk and office manager. I believe her name is Lynne. As a dental practice manager, you're the glue that holds everything together and your job is to do your best to keep people happy--your team and patients alike. I have been to Merrick Dental Care a number of times over the years and have witnessed what I can only call abuse towards their OWN front desk. Poor girls. Aside from the sharpie eyebrows (won't get too much further into that) the ugliness travels deep within as well. She is a tyrant. Does nothing to help the patient and whenever myself, my family or friends (who were also patients at one point of this practice) tried to contact this office manager she could be heard IN THE BACKGROUND saying "I'm not here." They care FIRST ABOUT THEIR MONEY, then only a distant second about their patients. All about the money and don't care about their staff. Management is cruel and unqualified. Infection control is below standard. On my last visit there I told the assistant that I thought I saw blood on the equipment and she said it was not blood that it was cleaning paste that they use for cleanings. Equipment is complete junk. I recently went for a cleaning and the tech kept apologizing for faulty equipment. Not her fault, I completely understand. The front staff are miserable overworked and underpaid significantly. The greed is disgusting. I can't believe I'm saying this but I won't ever be returning to this office and I will be sure to post this everywhere. I will also be sure to contact the Dental Board to report what I have witnessed. Did I mention the appointments are 30 minutes? Shame on them. This place is money hungry. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to Merrick Dental Care was one of the best decisions I have ever made! From the front desk, to the hygienist, to Dr. Tasso, it was an all around positive experience. There was not a long wait time to be seen, I was taken care of/treated extremely well, and everyone was super friendly. As a medical professional myself, it's important to understand exactly what is going on and Dr. Tasso explained everything well and answered any questions I had. I went in having extreme tooth pain for a few weeks and by the time I walked out, it was gone and I felt like a new person! If anyone is looking for a good dentist, this is the spot to go! If I could give this place a 10 I would!
