Welcome to the office of Dr. Mario Chorak. When you walk into our office, you can be assured that you are working with someone who is not only highly professional and personable but highly trained and capable as well.
Dr. Chorak is a Seattle native, having grown up on Vashon Island and then attending the University of Washington for his undergraduate degree. His venture into dentisry took him to the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry where he graduated with High Distinction in 1999. He then earned his Certificate of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from the Oregon Health Sciences University in 2001.
In school, he earned numerous honors and awards for his excellence in research and academic achievement, including the American and International Awards in Dental Research and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (Dental Honors Fraternity), to name just a few. He has published articles for the American Association of Dental Research and the Journal of Clinical Virology.
Currently, Dr. Chorak is very involved in the Orthodontics community.He has served as the Secretary and is now the Vice President of Washington Sate Society of Orthodontics, has lectured for and is a Focus Group member for Self-Ligating brackets, the newest and most advanced bracket system, and is frequently attending Continuing Education courses, meetings, and study groups to ensure that he is providing the very best care available. He is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the King County Dental Society.
To know me is to know that I LOVE MY JOB! I love working with kids, families, adults everyone! Knowing that our team can make such a profound difference in others lives is such an inspiration and is intensely fulfilling. Another reason I love my job is because I so strongly believe in Dr. Choraks work quality, ethics, unsurpassed service, and his ability to create that amazing signature Chorak Smile that sets him apart from the rest.
I earned my B.A from the University of Washington and my Masters degree in Teaching from the University of Puget Sound. I am a certified elementary teacher and have taught in schools in both Oregon and Washington. I was also the Center Director of Sylvan Learning Centers in Kentucky and in Oregon for several years.

I was a longtime patient of Dr. Chorak's. I've had 2 rounds of braces and then aligners. The most recent experience with him and his staff has led me to switching care. At one appt, the tech was complaining about the amount of adjustments he had to do for my aligners that day right in front of me. He was rushing and throwing the tools around then pulled my bottom lip so hard it split open and was bleeding for days. He didn't acknowledge it and was unprofessional the whole time. I've never felt so unsafe and uninformed as I did at that visit. I spoke to the office manager after that and she said she'd relay my concerns to Dr. Chorak but I never heard back. You'd think that when it comes to patient safety/comfort the doctor would call you. After that experience, it's felt hostile from the staff every time I've gone in. I've left many voicemails about issues/questions related to my treatment over the last year, but they never once returned my calls. Don't make the mistake I did and get a second opinion before starting the aligners they so heavily push onto you.

I had a very pleasant initial encounter with the staff and orthodontist. Everyone was very amiable, and I didn't feel pressured into agreeing early to any payment plan at all. There were some technical difficulties, but they were handled with finesse. I will definitely keep this practice in mind when people ask for recommendations for specialists.

Having had two kids go through braces at Mercer Island Orthodontics, we have nothing but glowing things to say about the practice and care we received.
