I just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU! My recent root canal and crown came out wonderfully, and my mouth feels and looks great. I appreciate your patience with my anxiety and your cheerful dispositions. It is wonderful to know that I have such a great place to turn to!

To all of you amazing women who work at Mercer Island Dentistry thank you again for a wonderful dental experience. Two hours of relaxing with a movie while you worked your magic in my mouth was like taking a mini vacationin the middle of the week. You have no idea how safe you have made the little boy in me feel every time I step through your doors. I look forward to my next visit.

I just wanted to return your thanks- from the initial invitations, to the new patient sign up process, to the exam, x-rays, and cleaning- I felt welcomed, respected and cared for. This is a unique experience for me at a dentists office, and your team is to be congratulated for fulfilling your vision to such a great extent.

It was great to meet you and your staff today. I have had ups and downs in my dental experience over the years. I am really pleased to be a patient of yours now, and I look forward to receiving care in your office

Once again you redefine dentistry for me and our family! Mercer Island Dentistry staff were the most accepting and safe environment. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your grace, kindness, and wonderful care.

I wanted to say thank you for the wonderful way I was treated. I was in a lot of pain and your kind demeanor and fantastic attitude made all the difference in the world! Going to the dentist is still not my favorite thing, but knowing that I will be treated as more than just a number on a chart makes it just a little easier.

With the digital method, a technician glides a small sensor around inside a patients mouth and the images instantly pop up on a computer screen in the exam room. The digital images, which look similar to traditional X-rays, can then be enlarged and manipulated, which many dentists say gives them a better feel for whats going on inside a patients mouth.

Patients say they can more easily understand a treatment recommendation because they get a good look at the problem blown up on the screen in front of them, rather than having to squint at a postage-stamp-size shot held up to the light.

Digital X-Rays Use Lower Amounts of Radiation. A digital X-ray requires less radiation to capture a high-resolution image than the traditional X-rays used a few decades ago. Depending on the type of film, equipment, and image being taken, it may be as much as a 90% reduction in exposure! As such, its safe to say that todays dental X-rays are extremely safe

Compared to not getting dental X-rays, the tiny amount of radiation exposure is an important trade off. Why? Because diagnostic imaging allows dentists to see inside and around the tooth structures where pathology (such as bone loss, oral cancer, or tooth decay) commonly lurk. Diagnosing them as early as possible allows for less-invasive and more cost-effective treatments. Otherwise, such problems cant be detected until theyve reached an advanced state that requires more aggressive therapies to manage.

A Daily Dose of Background Radiation. Every day, were exposed to radiation. It comes from the sun, our cell phones, and even riding in an airplane (the longer the airplane ride, the more radiation youre exposed to!)

But when you get a set of four bitewing X-rays (the images that are usually taken about once a year to check for new cavities,) the total amount of radiation is only about 0.005 mSv (millisieverts,) which is less than an average daily dose of radiation in everyday life.

Radiology and health experts follow the rule of ALARA, or as low as reasonably achievable. This means limiting the risk of scatter radiation to staff and patents. While scatter radiation is minimal, it cannot perforate lead. As such, lead aprons are used to shield tissues that are most sensitive to radiation, including the thyroid gland and reproductive organs. While the risk is extremely low, the apron essentially prevents radiation exposure to other parts of the body that are of greater concern.

De. Strelow is by far the best dentist I've had. She's really kind, listens well about any concerns I have, and does a great job! The hygienists and assistants that I've had have all been amazing. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Going to the dentist is NOT my favorite thing, but this place is the BEST. I broke my three front teeth during a snow storm in February when I slid on black ice. Dr. Strelow quickly repaired those teeth and I walked out with a smile!

Our family has found that Mercer Island Dentistry is a wonderful place to receive our dental care. Because of past dental experiences with other dentists our daughter was terrified of going to the dentist. Dr. Strelow and her staff helped our daughter over come her dental anxiety, and now she looks forward to going in for her twice yearly check up. Dr. Strelows professionalism and skills have made us very happy consumers. The staff at Mercer Island Dentistry is top notch in terms of how they manage our families dental care. We have had some very complex issues as we age, and they never fail at finding preventative measures so we continue to enjoy good oral health. We will never go anywhere else.

Very pleased with the service and staff. Only down side was no parking space! But just walked from a lot a block away. I would recommend.

Very pleasant staff. Clean. Has done an excellent job for my entire family. I highly recommend Dr. Strelow and her staff. We were sent to her by a couple of dentists that have retired and go to her for their dental work. She has taught dentistry at the University of Washington.
