Dr. Rachael Vogel completed her undergraduate studies at University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota and received her dental degree from Marquette School of Dentistry in 2005. She graduated with high academic honors and was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu and Omicron Kappa Upsilon. After graduation, Dr. Vogel completed a one year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. She is a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and a member of the American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, Ozaukee County Dental Association and Milwaukee Dental Forum. Dr. Vogel is also a part time staff dentist at the Milwaukee VA Center and served as a part time faculty member at Marquette School of Dentistry for 7 years.
Dr. Alison Below grew up in Whitefish Bay and completed her undergraduate studies at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where she played soccer and ran track for the Vikings. She earned her DMD at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Below is a member of the American Dental Association, the Wisconsin Dental Association, and the Washington Ozaukee County Dental Society. She is the newsletter editor for the Washington Ozaukee County Dental Society and volunteers regularly at the Albrecht Free Clinic in West Bend. Dr. Below is an avid runner, practices yoga regularly, and lives in Cedarburg with her husband.
Dr. John Ramer joined the Mequon Dental Group as an experienced clinician and dedicated dental educator. After graduating from Northwestern University School of Dentistry he furthered his education by completing a two year General Dentistry Residency with the United States Air Force and continued to serve a full Air Force career . Over this time Dr. Ramer has served as the director of 2 separate Air Force post-doctorate Advanced Education in General Dentistry residencies. Upon his return to Wisconsin he was the director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Milwaukee VA from 2003 2017. He has held teaching positions at the University of California -San Francisco and Texas A&M -Baylor College of Dentistry all the while maintaining a comprehensive clinical practice. He is Board Certified by the American Board of General Dentistry, a member of the International College of Dentists (having served as the Deputy Regent for the VA from 2008-2017), a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association. Currently he continues to serve our community and veterans at the Milwaukee VA.
Dr. Denise Shih is a board certified periodontist and a Diplomate of American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Shih joined Mequon Dental Group in 2013. For over 10 years, Dr. Shih worked as a Staff Periodontist and the Section Chief of Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry at the Milwaukees Zablocki VA. Dr. Shih is also a trained dental implant surgeon and provides outstanding implant and periodontal dental services. Dr. Shih, originally from Brazil, attended Marquette University for a one year residency followed by a three-year residency program in Periodontology at the University Minnesota. Dr. Shih lives in Mequon with her husband and two children.

My whole family has had great experiences at Mequon Dental Group. I have seen both Dr. Below as well as Dr. Stone and have had been impressed with their bedside manner. Dr. Below has also done a fantastic job with cleanings on our toddlers!

As someone who is always a little apprehensive of going to cleanings due to never feeling like I floss enough, I can say that Dr. Below and the team not only delivered amazing care, but always provided me with reassurance and the education I needed. I absolutely will be returning!

I've been a patient with Mequon Dental for years. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in the way I was handled. I went in for a normal cleaning which I've done twice a year for YEARS now....So I know the procedures and steps the dental hygienist takes with each cleaning. This visit, they scheduled my cleaning with a TEMP dental hygienist. She didn't follow any of the normal procedures, I had to continue to ask for the saliva ejector, she barely spent anytime brushing and flossing and the cleaning had to be every bit of 20 seconds lol....well that's at least what it seemed like. I could just tell she didn't take pride in her work, it was rushed and wasn't the quality I'm used too. She didn't take her time to really clean and get the plaque in front or in-between my teeth. Once I was able to look at my teeth, I still noticed plaque built up and asked her to go over those areas with the excavator dental tools...She went over those areas quickly and I noticed some off in the areas and asked her to scrap once more...she did and the plaque came off...the results weren't quality like I've ALWAYS gotten from Mequon Dental. So Extremely Disappointed, I connect with Susan. She immediately states that I have two cleanings per year which confused me because....why would I need to use my second cleaning for this visit??? A temporary hygienist was hired on that didn't provide quality work. I informed Susan my current insurance was ending May 31,2022 due to new employment so if I did have to pay for ANOTHER cleaning due to the horrible quality they would need to get me in ASAP. I express my concerns and that I wasn't satisfied. I informed her that I wanted another cleaning by a more professional experienced hygienist who can provide me with quality service. Susan stated she would connect with me after she talks things over with her office manger. My appointment was on May 3rd, 2022. Weeks and weeks go by no contact at all from Mequon Dental. I call the office May 24th, 2022 to connect with Susan. She still has to have a conversation with her office manager....meaning to me that she never took my concerns to the office manager in the first place. Long story short Mequon Dental's only option was for Dr. Below to examine the work and we'll go from there...which was fine but they didn't have any availability whatsoever. They should've stayed late, called in another hygienist anything to accommodate me for this inconvenience and heart breaking experience. I never got my quality cleaning I paid for instead I feel ripped off. They got my money but didn't provide the quality service I paid for. Very disappointed in the way this was handled. I can't believe this experience...

Great place, the Dentist was very detailed and explained everything that was going on. The Hygienist was very nice and did a good job cleaning my teeth. I'll definitely be back!

Dr. Below is an exceptional dentist, she is laser focused and anticipates my questions and always offers treatment options, never pressures or makes me feel anything but comfortable. The office professionals are welcoming and walk through treatment plans, they run preauthorizations and always follow up. It is the best dentist office I have gone to, and I have been to many and have had many procedures.

After returning to the Milwaukee area, I was in search of a new dentist and am glad to have found a new home at Mequon Dental Group. From check-in to check-out, the experience was smooth, thorough, and professional. My dentist, Dr. Below, spent the time to address all of my concerns and she and Joey did an excellent job on my teeth. Highly recommend!

I am a relatively new patient at MDG, but a very satisfied one. My Dentist is Dr. Below, and she is very professional, knowledgeable and careful. She does a very thorough job of explaining each procedure beforehand. The staff is welcoming and equally professional. Like most people, I usually dread going to the dentist but I found it easy to go to MDG.

Mequon Dental group is the best, Dr. Vogel is a very thorough and gentle Dentist. Joey my Hygienist makes my visits enjoyable with her funny personality and her great cleaning skills. I don't dread going to the dentist anymore since moving to Mequon.

Dr. Ramer is a phenomenal dentist and takes a very conservative approach to your care. After a bad experience with a downtown dentist that drilled into 10 of my teeth, used a DiagnoDent laser and further used a caries-detecting dye to determine how far into each tooth to drill (you'll have to google these technologies to see just how aggressive they are at removing sound tooth structure), I was left with very large fillings and an insane amount of sensitivity. While the other dentist sent me to an endodontist to prepare for root canals, Dr. Ramer was the first to recommend a mouthguard (and very meticulously created a comfortable one, that I have now been using for close to 6 years!). The mouthguard helped decrease the sensitivity, which did subside after a month or two of using it, and it honestly may be the only reason I still have all of my natural teeth. Over the next couple of years, any time there was a spot in question, he would opt for the wait and see approach in order to avoid any unnecessary drilling. We have not had to drill since! I never had a single billing/insurance issue, the front desk staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, and they were always willing to call the insurance and see what would be covered (sealants, mouthguard, extra cleanings). I'm sad I have to find a new dentist now that I live in Colorado!

I have gone to many dentist and also quit going to all of them except this one, Mequon Dental Group, from first visit I knew I was in the right place, I have anxiety going to the dentist due to many things but these ppl work with you, very understanding and will get you through, Dr Vogel is amazing and her assistant Cindi, I love these two people!!! They helped over my anxiety, and I actually look forward going back, ok not really, but at least I go now lol

These people don't care about their clients. I had more than 5 emails confirming my appointments and I have a bill on my counter. However call them during a dental emergency and they act like they have no idea who you are! For a place in Mequon I expected better!

My fear of the dentist had kept me away for too long thus creating some major issues with my teeth. After seeing Dr. Below last year and starting a treatment plan, my fears and anxieties are gone. She listened to me and made sure that I was comfortable during every one of my visits. My treatment plan was a few months in the process to get my teeth in shape for my wedding day and then the Covid shut down hit. Once they were able to reopen, everyone there made sure that I was able to get my treatment plan completed before the big day! Thanks to all for all of your efforts and for Dr. Below for taking such good care of me.

Dr. Alison Below was really lovely and knowledgeable. I come back from Australia to visit this location, since they have all my history. Had my first cavity and Alison fixed it on the spot. Which is so convenient since it isn't easy for me to come back all the time. Very professional and easy going personality. Her new technology was also very cool so I was able to see before and after photos. Would highly recommend. Thank you again for the great service!!
