Dr. Mendivil graduated with honors from Creighton University Dental School in 1981 and completed his orthodontic residency at U.C. San Francisco Medical Center in 1983. Over the years he has served as an orthodontic consultant for the California Central Health Plan and the California Central Advisory Committee.
Not only does he specialize in orthodontics for children and adults but he also treats severe surgical orthodontic cases, Temporal Mandibular Dysfunctions (TMJ or TMD) and cleft palate deformities. He has practiced in Southern California for over 30years. He divides his time between his practice in Bakersfield, California and Oceanside, California.

If negative stars were permitted his rating wouldnt be so high! Dr Mendival is a great sales man who cant back up his work. His work is mediocre at best leaving patients with numerous issues once braces are removed. DONT GO HERE!! He and most of the staff are incredibly rude and hateful especially when you dare to have a question. They do NOT CARE about their patients!! The techs are very rough leaving many cuts and abrasions and do NOT listen to patients in pain. I have spoken to MANY waiting clients (as waits are long) and almost every person has minimal if anything good to say about the office! It's very sad that any insurance would continue to pay this botch doctor and his staff. The office staff is the worst..Save yourself the headaches..DONT GO HERE!!

I will be filing a lawsuit. Will any previous patients be willing to join me? Or sign an affadavit to help me take him to court? My teeth are still ruined even after my braces were taken off a few years ago.

I decided to get braces here and the doctor sent me to get teeth pulled out that I NEEDED so now I have to pay out of pocket for dental implants. Don't recommend this place !!

This place is super unprofessional. They don't schedule you correctly and try to blame it on the patient, I was even called a liar after telling them that I've been getting scheduled months apart due to no fault of my own. I've had my braces on for 2 years with this office and if anything my bite is worse. Within those two years they never took my spacers off to clean my teeth under and after I had them take them off today there is brown spots and lines due to plaque and food getting in between the spacer and my tooth. I highly suggest finding another orthodontist if you are considering this place.

Staff and receptionists are way too rude , the place is small. Waiting periods are long. Had my braces for almost 5 years had the worst experience with them.

Most of the staff was nice and they accept DentiCal, which paid for my braces the first couple years. The last 2 years I paid $150 a month. Total of 5 years with braces. I was not happy with the results...my teeth were still hideous. Currently have Invisalign with another orthodontist, which has been great. Sad that I had to get braces again though, especially since it's all out of pocket.

Back office and front office have no communication what so ever! Every time I go in I end up arguing with someone! They ask my daughter ,who are we fighting with today! Every time! I'm about to change her ,but I'm stuck here!

The place is horrible the manager and front staff is sooooo rude my sons mouth was bleeding After leaving we asked if he can go back and have the doctor check it out they got upset then I called and asked them a question the manager yelled at me and said we've asked to many questions and she will be dropping my son as a patient I've never experienced a place so bad in my life

Received orthodontic treatment here for years and spent over $6000. While my visible teeth looked good, I was left with gaps between my back molars on both sides of top and bottom. Food is always getting stuck between them. I don't understand why I wasn't informed about these gaps or why my braces were removed before they could be fixed.

Stay away! My little sister was getting braces here and her brackets would always break and the office charged everytime they had to be fixed. She didn't eat anything hard. I am convinced the orthodontist did a quick job in order to continue charging for the broken brackets.
