I started my journey to becoming an orthodontist when I got braces in third grade! I was convinced at a young age that I wanted to be an orthodontist someday because I had such a positive experience during my own orthodontic treatment. It is now my hope that I impact my patients in such a way that they leave their orthodontic experience feeling inspired and confident in their future and their smile!
I am happily married to my husband, Jeff, who is my best friend. Our son, Jacob, is the most wonderful blessing in our lives and he is changing so quickly that the pictures you see here are probably outdated! In my free time I enjoy being with family, serving in our church community, golfing with Jeff, hanging out with Jacob, traveling, running, hiking and just being outside!
Making all our patients feel right at home is important to us. Dr. Brown's team is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide healthful, energetic and fun-loving treatment to each patient. We are regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars to stay abreast of the latest in patient care, technology, and orthodontic advances.
Tracey Mathieu is usually the first person you see upon arriving at Dr. Browns office. She has been a part of the orthodontic team for over 18 years. Tracey spends her free time with her husband, Myles, and their young son, Liam. She completed an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts in June 1984 at Corning Community College. In 1993, Tracey completed the requirements for the Licensed Massage Therapist Certification in Sports Medicine. She also enjoys time at the beach, time with her extended family and reading mystery books.
Heather Lloyd has been part of our orthodontic team for over 15 years. She enjoys the hands-on assisting in the clinical area and has also become the teams computer expert. Her favorite leisure activities are reading, completing crossword puzzles, watching classic movies and camping. Heather is completing course work for an Associates Degree in Computer Science at Corning Community College.
Vikki Pike has been a part of the team for over 6 years. Previously, she worked as an orthodontic assistant for 8 years before joining Dr. Brown in 2007. Vikki is a Certified Orthodontic Assistant. At home, she enjoys cooking with her husband, Lynn. Most of Vikkis free time is spent with her children and her new granddaughter, Jayden! She also enjoys quilting, gardening and playing softball.
Valerie Folnsbee joined our staff in February 2013, and is excited to be a part of Dr. Browns team! She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2007 from Roberts Wesleyan College and her Master of Science in Education Degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from St. Bonaventure University in 2009. Valerie worked as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Elmira for three years and was looking for a career change. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Neil; her family; and her dog, Lyla. Valerie also spends her time baking, reading and snowboarding.
Jennifer has moved back to the area after living in Oklahoma for the past 10 years, where she worked as a dental assistant at a general practice. Jennifer graduated from Corning Community College in 2000 with an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. Before returning to the region, she became DANB certified (Dental Assisting National Board), so that she could continue her passion for dentistry here. Jen loves reading mysteries and John Grisham novels, remodeling home decor, antiquing and spending time with her family, especially her husband, David, and her three daughters: Auburn, Reese and London.

My son just got his braces off today after 2+ years of braces. He had a massive overbite and some gaps that needed fixing. Dr Brown and her staff did a great job with his treatment! His smile looks fantastic!

Throughout my whole treatment Dr.Brown and her staff have helped so much in every way to achieve the smile I have alway wanted! I can't thank them enough they have always provided me with mouth-guards for playing lacrosse during my treatment and wax for when a brackets was bothering the inside of my mouth! They made both my treatments one braces and one Invisalign very enjoyable and wouldn't want any other place for treatment! #drbrownssmiles

My son completed a 2 year schedule with an appliance for an overbite correction PRIOR to braces being placed on his teeth (BioNator). Then, a 2 year cycle of braces. When braces were removed, his teeth looked good and he was given a retainer post-removal. Dr Brown, nor her staff, NEVER mentioned using permanent retainers like other orthos in the area - we didn't know this option existed and they never said anything. Fast fwd to today and his bottom teeth are crooked. Dr Brown now wants to do something called "Invisalign Lite" and place the perm retainers after.... so after 4+ years of treatment, thousands of dollars, my kid has crooked bottom teeth. Go with Bellohusen in Elmira - that's where we're now taking our younger daughter. Would not recommend this office at all for your child.

I am a 68 year old woman who had two front teeth that overlapped to the point that one was protruding. Every time I smiled I was very self conscious. My front teeth overlapped most of me life, but as I got older, it got progressively worse. I decided to do something about it. I first consulted with my regular dentist who referred me to Dr. Melissa Brown. I have to say, first how completely impressed I have been with her, her staff and the way she runs her practice. And beyond that, my experience with being fit for Invisalign and monitored throughout the process was exceptional. I could not be more pleased with the outcome! I would most definitely recommend Dr. Brown and her wonder staff!

I am currently in the middle of my second child's ortho treatment. With our first experience, Dr.Brown and staff made the process of straightening her teeth quick and nearly effortless. At 20 years old her teeth are still beautiful and using her retainers from Dr.Brown's office. The first stage of my second daughter's treatment was recently completed. The staff encouraged her to wear her bands and in just 8 weeks her bite was corrected and she is now band free!!!She was so excited and thankful for all the support from the office. Now we are on the Invisalign path and excited for the end result. The ease of scheduling appointments is a priority to this office and we never sit in the waiting room past appointment times. My children loved going to their appointments and seeing the results! Thank you Dr.Brown and staff. Happy holidays to all!

Dr. Brown and her staff are wonderful! All the ladies are super polite and wonderful! I would not recommend anywhere else but here for braces!! They were great! They made me feel comfortable to go get my teeth worked on. Whenever i problems with my braces they would fix it to my liking. I am happy with my results and my teeth look great!
