Dr. Otto Herod grew up around dentistry. Both parents were dentists and he learned early on what was important to run a successful practice. I believe that maintaining excellent clinical skills plus good communication between doctor and patient are the essence of successful dentistry, says Dr. Herod.
After graduating from the Baylor College of Dentistry, Dr. Herod operated a successful practice in East Texas for six years. But as a native South Texan, he decided to move to the San Antonio area to be closer to his family and friends, and to serve his local community.
One skill Dr. Herod's patients really appreciate is his ability to communicate and thoroughly explain treatment procedures. His patients are put at ease and they appreciate the time he takes to get to know them and answer any questions. They also appreciate his thorough approach to their dental work and his gentle techniques, often commenting on the fact that they never even feel his anesthesia injections.

Annette Rangel is one of our full-time registered dental assistants. In May of 2006 Annette began her training as an assistant with Dr. Danna. She picked up the skills very quickly and has since been a valuable member of our team. Annette is trained to assist Dr. Danna in all phases of dentistry. Her quiet demeanor can quickly put the anxiety of any patient at ease. Annette was born in Hondo and raised in LaCoste.
Bonnie Werner is our outstanding hygienist. Bonnie is skilled in the latest techniques for preventative and periodontal care. She served in the United States Air Force where she worked as a dental assistant and a prophy tech from 1983 - 1987. After her tour in the military Bonnie furthered her interest in dentistry which led her to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she earned her bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene in 2004. Bonnie has enjoyed 25 years in the field of dentistry.
Bonnie is a native of San Antonio but has lived in Hondo since 1990. In her free time she enjoys reading, swimming, bible study, church activities and spending time with her three children, Vickie, Chris, Andy and her canine companion, KC!
Carmen Rivas Danna has worked with Dr. Danna since 1996. She spent 17 years prior to that as an elementary and middle school teacher. Carmen works at the front desk and obtains and files all dental insurance claims. The best part of her job is 'visiting' with our patients.
Meghan DeCock Bendeleattended San Antonio College of Medical and Dental Assistants where she was trained as a dental assistant. Upon completion of her training she was hired by Dr. Danna in 2004. Meghan's responsibilities are maintaining dental supplies for the office and assisting Dr. Danna during all phases of dental treatment. Meghan enjoys being part of a team that can restore a patients' smile both cosmetically and functionally.
Meghan is a native of San Antonio but has lived in Castroville since 1990. Her hobbies are cooking, having dinner with family and friends, dove hunting, fishing and 'just hangin-out' with her Yorkie, Samson.

I am so pleased with the level of service that I received at Medina Family Dental. The staff is caring, polite and they put you at ease. Scheduling was an easy and the wait is never long. I've been seeing Dr. Herod for several years now and highly recommend his services. I recently had a crown installed and the whole experience was quick, painless and flawless. Caring staff. Feel at ease when I am there. That's important for me as I am scared normally. Getting all my teeth pulled and complete dentures, that cocktail was great. Didn't feel a thing. Would highly recommend. Thx for making me feel at home

The folks at Medina Family Dental are polite, efficient and knowledgeable. They found the problem with my lower left molar that my own dentist in San Antonio thought was sensitive gums. Even though I am only a temporary resident to the area I have scheduled a return appointment to take care of the problem, and would definitely recommend them to any if my family and friends who live in the area.

Always a pleasant dentist visit with Dr. Frank Danna and his entire staff. Thankfully, I'm in good hands and my dental needs are promptly addressed and their customer/patient service is superb. These folks have handled the dental needs of my entire family of five and for 20+ years. No need to look elsewhere. This should be your first and last stop for yourself or your family.
