Dr. Thomas J. Meals is originally from Butler, PA. Dr. Meals received his RN in 1994. In 1997 he graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Physiology and Neurobiology. He then continued his education and received concurrent degrees in Dentistry and a Masters of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh in 2001.
Dr. Meals spent three years in the United States Army, completing a one year residency (Advanced Education General Dentistry). During the remainder of his military service he was assigned with the 7th Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg, NC. Dr. Meals has been in private practice since 2004. In 2010, Dr. Meals began the transition to take over Dr. Andrew Townsends office that had been established for over 35 years. Dr. Townsend pursued and accomplished his goal of working for the Indian Health Services and relocated.
Dr. Meals believes in comprehensive dentistry making it convenient for each patient to have their needs cared for by one dentist. He is skilled in conscious sedation (dentistry while you sleep), dentures, extractions, and esthetic cases. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting and studying American History.

I have had terrible anxiety about going to dentist due to dentist in the past, I came to Meals Dentistry and they were all so very kind and gentle. I have had Brandy both visits and she was wonderful! I highly recommend their office to anyone who has had bad experiences with dentist or have anxiety as I did!

My daughter had a really bad tooth that was causing her a lot of pain. they were able to get her in the next day and extract the tooth. Very friendly and supportive staff.

I got my 6 month dental cleaning. The staff was very friendly. Michelle, who completed my cleaning is excellent. She makes you feel relaxed and is always happy. She is excellent doing her job. I would recommend Dr. Meals and staff for your dental care

I actually called this practice when they were closed and left a message fully expecting them not to call me back and I had a dental emergency but before this practice even opened I received a telephone call from them telling me to come on in so they could see what was going on. These are some of the nicest staff I've ever met. They really go out of their way to ensure your comfortability and to make you fully aware of the problem you're having and the solutions to that problem. I fully intend on going back and having Meals Family Dentistry provide all of my dental needs.

If you have anxiety regarding dental procedures then make an appointment with Dr. Meals. Our experience with him and his staff exceeded our expectations. He came highly recommended by our family dentist's office in Chambersburg when we told them our 18-year-old daughter has severe anxiety when it comes to medical procedures. She has needed to have her wisdom teeth out since she was in middle school. Our first attempt went miserably with the local doctor. When we told him about her anxiety he dismissively told her to just get over it. Needless to say, on the day of her appointment she had the most severe anxiety attack she has ever had, and the doctor just acted angry at her for not pulling herself together. We later traveled to a far more considerate doctor in Harrisburg but again on the day of the appointment, she resisted the anesthesia and couldn't begin the procedure. Finally we were referred to Dr. Meals given that he performs sedation dentistry. At the consultation the dentist and his staff attentively listened to her concerns. Dr. Meals' empathy and concern put her at ease, and she immediately trusted him, as did I. The sedatives worked, the procedure was a success, and when it was over, my daughter said she would highly recommend this method and him.

I love Meals Family Dentistry. I have been going there for a few years now, and thanks to them I have gotten my smile back! Staff is always friendly, prices are discussed so you don't have any surprises. Dr. Meals never makes me feel bad for any teeth issues, and always comes up with a plan to fix things.

I cannot begin to say how pleased I am to have found Dr. Meal's. I've just moved to this area recently and first time out I have a winner. From start to finish, from day one, it's been a great experience. Detail and efficiency abound and sincere and helpful patient care is at the forefront. Whoever took the class on how to run a dental office right was definitely paying attention. And, best yet, along with all of that, Dr. Meal's and his incredible staff did a beautiful job on my dental procedures...better than I could have expected. (Sedation is the thing folks!) I'm never moving from this area because I can't lose my dentist!

Their entire staff is absolutely wonderful!! I seriously have had a great experience every time I've been there. I had to have 2 sedation appointments to address multiple issues, and both were good experiences. They were fantastic with my follow up care and got me in on the same day whenever I had an issue that needed addressed! I highly recommend them to everyone I know!!
