Dentistry actually runs in Dr. Silfas family. Both his father and his grandfather were dentists, and he just happens to be the first generation to practice here in the United States. He followed their path towards oral healthcare because he fell in love with the important craft of designing smiles. Being able to transform someones wellbeing directly with his hands is an amazing feeling!
Dr. Silfa completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Columbia College of Dental Medicine and underwent an AEGD residency as the Chief Resident and an associate clinical professor at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He has pursued continuing education on a regular basis since then, including full mouth rehabilitation training through NYU. Additionally, he has a background in research and studied the correlation between cardiovascular disease and gum disease for six years while at Columbia. Today, he is widely considered as one of the leading dental practitioners on Long Island.
Dr. Silfa and his wife Veronica have three children named Isabelle, Ian, and Camila. Isabella is a soccer player, Ian loves to learn about science, and Camila is always making the family smile and laugh with silly jokes! As a group, they enjoy exploring the outdoors, taking pictures, and hanging out at home, especially when they get to roast marshmallows by the fire pit. As for personal hobbies, his biggest passions outside of dentistry are sports and fitness particularly high-intensity sports that challenge him and help him become mentally stronger, like CrossFit, running and riding his Peloton bike! Hiking is also a popular pastime.
Dr. Casaas earned his bachelors degree at Fordham University before attending the State University of Stony Brook where he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He then attended a general practice residency at Booth Memorial Medical Center, where he later taught as an associate professor for 10 years.
With a focus on innovative procedures and the newest trends in dental care, Dr. Casaas stays up-to-date on the latest breakthroughs in the field, including those in sedation, cosmetic, and implant dentistry.
