Dr. Jana Tumpkin McQueen has practiced orthodontics since 1988, when she finished her orthodontic residency. She decided to go to dental school after a friend suggested it to her and that ended up being the best decision she could have made!

During dental school, Dr. McQueen found herself drawn to the orthodontic specialty because of the mental engagement it offered: being able to challenge herself, daily, on top of perfecting smiles for people she cares about, is a huge bonus!

Dr. McQueen completed her undergraduate studies at Fisk University, where she was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She then attended Meharry Medical College for dental school, graduating second in her class with honors and with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). Her orthodontic residency was completed at Howard University.

For Dr. McQueen, knowing the impact that treatment has on a person giving individuals confidence in their smile is her greatest reward. She loves seeing people blossom, as their self-esteem grows, and they are more at ease around others. When treatment is finished, and her patient has a smile they are proud to share, she celebrates with them!

A large part of Dr. McQueens devotion to providing high quality orthodontic treatment is reflected in her dedication ongoing education. Orthodontics is a constantly advancing specialty, with research leading to changes in diagnostics, technology, and methodologies.

Through active continuing education participating in seminars and attending meetings and lectures Dr. McQueen stays up-to-date with best practices. This allows her to incorporate the most current, proven options into the practice and patient care.

Growing up, she spent a lot of time at our office and fell in love with the field. When she was in fifth grade, she wrote a paper explaining how she wanted to be an orthodontist and a WNBA player! In high school, she started dental assisting, working on family and friends, under her mothers Dr. Jana McQueens guidance.

Dr. McQueen attended Texas Southern University, in Houston, where she played D1 basketball and her undergraduate studies. Following in her mothers path, she then attended Meharry Medical College, graduating with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). She completed her orthodontic specialty training at Howard University, receiving her Certificate in Orthodontics.

As an orthodontist, Dr. McQueen appreciates the opportunity to meet and spend time with people from diverse backgrounds. For her, building connections while improving smiles and knowing treatment can transform a persons life is personally and professionally fulfilling!

Dental school and her orthodontic residency gave Dr. McQueen a solid understanding of oral healthcare and the mechanics of tooth movement. At the same time, she knows her specialty is constantly changing and is committed to staying current on the latest developments.

Dr. McQueen regularly attends meetings, lectures, and seminars, and studies the latest orthodontic and oral health journals. In learning about new technologies, as well as changes in diagnostics, treatment processes, and materials, she looks to advancements that improve the patient experience and results.

These organizations offer Dr. McQueen access to a wide range of continuing educational events, nationally, regionally, and locally. She makes the most of the opportunities to further her knowledge and skills, in order to provide patients with the highest quality care.

Dr. McQueen grew up in Bloomfield Hills and now resides in the MetroDetroit area with her husband Tim anddogBlu. If shes not at the office and creating smiles, she is probably enjoying time with her family,or playing basketball. She also likes hiking and craft projects, along with reading.

Team members will always treat you as an individual, not just a name on a page, and consider you to be family. They will put you at ease from the very first visit through the treatment process, and even after as you come in for follow-up visits.

The majority of our team members have been part of our family for over ten years and some have been here since Dr. Jana McQueen started the practice. Many have seen Dr. Janelle McQueen grow up and are excited to now be working with her!

The entire team is truly a family and that is something people new to our practice immediately appreciate: We all work well together and have each others back. This allows us to provide the most welcome, stable, and friendly environment in which youll achieve your new smile!

Cassandra assists the doctors with orthodontic procedures and handles inventory. She is a Certified Orthodontic Assistant, Dental Radiology Certified, and trained in OSHA and HIPPA, too. Having started in the field in 1988, Cassandra joined the McQueen Orthodontic Specialists team in 1998. She appreciates how we have created a family within the practice and with those we serve.

When shes not helping to create new smiles, Cassandra enjoys time with her spouse and two sons. She likes reading, shopping, dancing,andparticipating in activities at her church.She also enjoys a good movie or football game.

Christiyana works in the clinic, where she assists the doctors with procedures and provides patient care. She attended the dental program at the Dorsey School of Business and joined our practice in 2020. With her can-do attitude, Christiyana likes learning new things and loves working in a family-friendly and fun-loving office where we create amazing smiles.

Jeannenemanages our daily front desk operations alongside our front desk team. She works with patients and families, advising them on insurance and treatment plans, along with billing matters. Jeannene started in the field in 1990, working for her aunt, who is dentist, while attending Macomb Community College and later Oakland University. She joined us in 1998 and loves working for doctors who consider everyone to be family.

Jeannene is a Michigan native who graduated from Bishop Gallagher High School. She is a loving mother of one, enjoys time with her church and serving as a member of the trustee board, traveling, and being with family.

Kenneth works in the clinic, assisting the doctors with different orthodontic procedures and offering direct patient care. He started in the field in 2001, has hands-on training in general dentistry and orthodontics, and joined McQueen Orthodontic Specialists in 2013. Kenneth likes how everyone is easygoing and that our office is filled with family love.

Mary enjoys greeting the patients and families, answeringquestions, and addressingany concerns. She also specializes in insurance claims and processing patients payments.Mary helps keeps the offices stocked and organizedand manages our incoming and outgoingpackages. With a background in customer service a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development and a Masters Degree in Human and Social services, Maryjoined us in 2011.Mary loves working with doctors and teammates who are her second family.

Likewise, family is Sandras priority when shes not with us. She has been married for over 36years, has two daughters who are married, as well as two grandsons and a granddaughter on the way. In her spare time, Sandra enjoys reading, puzzles, and camping.

Tia is married and has five children and two grandchildren. She enjoys dancing, sign language, and DJ-ing. She is also very active with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Triumph Church, and Dreamin4ward LLC: she loves making a difference in peoples lives.

Stephanie was Born in Jalisco, Mexico, and the fourth of five siblings. Whose parents raised them with love, effort, and education. Stephanie graduated from the University of Guadalajara as an Orthodontist Specialist in 2019, being certified by the Mexican Association of Orthodontics. She likes traveling, watching beauty pageants, and trying new foreign food. Stephanie is happily married and grateful to God from the time the sun rises till the moon disappears.
