Because of his love for science, Dr. Todd McMaster has always had an interest in the medical field. Initially, he contemplated entering the orthodontics surgery field, but because he wanted to spend more time with his family, he decided dentistry was a better fit. Summing up his feelings toward his career in dentistry, Dr. McMaster comments, I greatly enjoy providing a service that helps people.
Dr. McMaster was born and raised in Southern California, and did his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University. He then attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and graduated with honors in 1995. In Dental school he received several awards for excellence in clinical dentistry. Upon completion of Dental School he joined his Father-in Law, John H. Dow Jr. and became a partner in the practice.
After 35 years of serving the community Dr. Dow retired and Dr. McMaster became the sole owner. Dr. McMaster is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA), and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Dr. McMaster is committed to frequently attending continuing education courses to stay current with the latest trends in dentistry.
He has been married for 25 years to his wife Deon and they have 4 children, Jessica, Zach, Jordyn and Jaycee. They reside in San Marcos. Dr. McMaster enjoys weightlifting, skiing, snowboarding and can frequently be found on his mountain bike!

Karen, my substitute hygienist while Amber is on maternity leave, was excellent in that she not only cleaned my teeth but provided valuable feedback regarding my concerns with recent gum sensitivity. She recommended a new "paint on" fluoride tx for gum sensitivity and Sensodyne toothpaste of which I am aware. However, she explained how it works on gums, half life, etc. She further ensured that I was comfortable at all times especially with saliva buildup and used suction often. Lastly, she took the extra time to rinse the gritty polishing compound until I was grit free: 3 times. As always, this is a wonderful dental practice of the highest integrity, value and competence. I have been a loyal customer through 3 generations (42 years).

Dr. Todd is seriously THE best! Besides doing great dental work, he is just a nice person. He listens, which is so important, and he genuinely cares how his patients feel and about what their needs are. His staff is always pleasant, caring and patient, and you can tell that they really love being there. His office was recommended to me (thank goodness!) and I have since told all of my family to go there. Always a wonderful experience - how many people can say that about going to their dentist - ha!

We're new patients of McMaster Dental and I have to say I was very impressed. Office was very nice and clean. Front desk staff with so helpful and nice. We never waited longer than 10 min. Zack was quick, thorough and really knows his stuff. I would definitely recommend this dental office.

McMaster Dental has been our go to place for decades. Very nice and competent people work here. Dr. Zach and JoAnne put new crowns on my upper front teeth and they look like a million bucks. Thanks for helping to restore my smile.

Been seeing Dr. McMaster for years. The care and quality of work is outstanding. They were able to fit me in for a crown and made me feel comfortable through the whole process. The entire staff is wonderful. Highly recommend!!

Do you know anyone who LIKES going to the dentist? You do now. I've been a patient of Dr. McMaster for over 15 years, and whether for cleanings, fillings, crowns or emergencies, his work is beyond reproach. And even though he is not in my insurance network, there's no other dentist I'd go to.

Greatest dental experience you can imagine. Kind and caring staff. Beautiful and clean office. Amazingly talented dentist that go above and to deliver the BEST care possible. I have needed several procedures and they have all turned out perfectly. They are honest and will avoid unnecessary procedures. These guys are the best around !!

It's great to find a top notch dentist. The last good dentist I had was 15 years ago, but then he retired. Since then, I've bounced around different dentists but was never delighted with the dentist or experience. Now that my family has found McMaster Dental we couldn't be happier. I had three fillings replaced today and no pain and total professionalism. Thank you

I started going to McMaster Dental a few years ago when I moved to San Diego and every visit has been great. Dr. McMaster and his team are true professionals and provide excellent care and are always warm and friendly. If you are new to the area and looking for dental care then Dr. McMaster is a great choice!

I am not a fan of the dentist, but ever since I've been to the McMaster Dental office, I feel more and more at ease. Both Dr. McMasters are very professional and kind, they take time to make you feel at ease and cared for. I have REALLY sensitive teeth and gums and was terrified to get my teeth cleaned after the dental hygeniest I'd been going to for 20 years retired. But, today Amber worked on my teeth at the office and it was PERFECT!! She did a great job and I didn't experience any pain or discomfort. Two thumbs up for Amber!

I could never understand why people hated going to the dentist. I never had issues with it, even as a kid. Then I got older and heard about other dentists. I started going to this practice when it was owned by Dr. McMaster's father-in-law and later it got transferred to him. Both men are so gentle with their touch and do such a good job. You won't regret coming here.
