Dr. Cecilia Gyllenhoff has practiced general, cosmetic and restorative dentistry since 1988. She is passionate about her work and strives to give her patients the best smile possible! In 1990, she began to develop the relationship-based style of practice she uses today. She works to establish a caring rapport from the start, getting to know each patients individual needs and goals.
She focuses on one patient at a time and provides meaningful health-oriented, ethical care over the long term. Partnering with Dr. Cappiello in 2002, her practice has achieved a kindred mindset with a new level of relationship-based, caring dentistry. Continuing professional development allows McLean Dental Care to offer the latest in cutting edge techniques in the industry. Dr. Gyllenhoff is honored that her skill and commitment has been recognized; she was named a Top Dentist in several editions of the Washingtonian and Northern Virginia magazines.
In her early days of practice in Old Town Alexandria, she worked with a team of specialists that helped her see the importance of caring about a patients overall health needs and lifestyle. She also learned to provide specialized care, treating people with disabled mouths and significantly misaligned teeth. Two of her areas of special expertise are full-mouth reconstruction and treatment of TMJ.
She has adult children who are graduates of Langley High School pyramid and also Virginia colleges. She and her husband and dog continue to make their home in McLean and Dr. Gyllenhoff focuses on providing excellent service in the heart of that community, for patients in the immediate McLean/Tysons Corner area, and in adjoining communities, including Great Falls, Bethesda, Falls Church, Vienna, Arlington and the District of Columbia.
She aligns herself with organizations that equip general dentists and specialists for treatment that unite state-of-the-art techniques with an understanding of the whole person. She received advanced training at the prestigious Pankey Institute and is an active member of the local chapter of the world-famous Seattle Study Club. She also participates in ongoing education to continually update her skills.
Dr. Gyllenhoff, the daughter of Swedish immigrants, studied for a year in Sweden before graduating from George Washington University with honors. She then attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry, where she received her DDS. At Georgetown, she participated in student government and served as representative to the American Academy of Dental Schools.

Excellent as usual. Dr. Gyllenhoff, Judy, and Nadine provided excellent dental care. That is why I keep coming back even though it is a long distance for me. However, I never thought about changing practices because McLean dental treats me as family.

Like most people, I have never been fond of going to the dentist. That said, when I go to McLean Dental Care, I feel like I'm visiting with friends. The office staff takes great pains to put me at ease. Dr. Cappiello is very kind and we always catch up on family and dogs before he gets to work. He gives me his full attention and never seems hurried. His expertise in restorative dentistry is the best! I am very pleased with the state of my dental health thanks to the care I have received over the last five years, and I wholly recommend the office.

This is the best and most caring dental practice around. I have been going to McLean Dental Care and have seen both Dr. Gyllenhoff and Dr. Cappiello. Both are top notch dentists technically as well as with their "chairside manner". I actually look forward to going to the dentist because it is like visiting old friends. This applies to the office staff too, including the newest additions like Nadine. If you hate going to the dentist, just think of it here as going to visit a friend!

I have been coming here for years and the McLean Dental Care team truly is the best of the best! Every single employee is friendly and extremely experienced, and all the hygienists are so thorough. The front desk staff are also the kindest people, and the space itself is extremely clean, comfortable, and well decorated. Can't recommend them enough!

My experience with my dental cleaning today was outstanding. Nadine did a superb job!! My teeth feel great! She was thorough and very gentle. Always pleased with Dr. Cappiello, he is also very thorough and attune to detail. Both Anita and Sergio are friendly and professional! Highly recommend this dental practice.

Dr. Samuel Cappiello is supreme! "Supreme" is a big word, but he has earned it with us. Our family has been going to him for 23 years. We've presented him with every kind of dental challenge, and he is expert at solving them perfectly. He is an artist at dental work, plus explains everything clearly. Well-organized, very safe, pleasant, office. Update Aug. 9, 2022 - If I could double Dr. Capiello's stars, I would. Today he masterfully took care of a chipped 20 year old crown over a root canal, last tooth on my upper right. The chip had allowed decay. Dr. Capiello explained each step of what he was doing. His assistant Judy was very skilled and nice. The office is beautifully decorated. The front office staff is very warm & helpful. They have chilled ice water infused with fresh pineapple waiting in the reception area. It was a long time in the chair but I felt very well-cared for, and my grateful appreciation makes up for my personal realization that at my age and with my teeth, my days of carelessly eating hard nuts are over!

I have spent a lifetime (like most people) really dreading going to the dentist, largely because I have had more than my share of dental challenges to address, and my experiences with dentists have not been totally positive. But McLean Dental Care has changed all of that. I actually enjoy the experience, if that is possible! The entire team is so upbeat, positive, friendly and totally invested in my dental health and wellness. I feel good when I leave there, and always feel extremely well cared for. I could not recommend this practice more highly!

For a person who doesn't like to go to the dentist, I would actually go there to hang out and have coffee. They have been far beyond the terms of detailed incredible work, flexible around work that destroy appt calendars, and engaging when describing what they are going to do, step by step, that should put chills in my bones but instead, develops a bond of trust because they can do the complex while still being engaging and friendly. It's like Cheers, everybody knows your name ...even if they aren't on your tab! So go knowing that you are getting much more than what you will pay for...
