Dr. Matt Avrit was born and raised here in Nashville, TN, where he graduated from Goodpasture High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1998.
He worked for General Electric and BASF before returning to school, earning his DMD degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2007. Dr. Avrit was accepted into an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program with the United States Air force at David Grant Medical Center, where he received specialized training in advanced dental techniques.
For the next three years, Dr. Avrit was the Deputy Commander of the 42d Dental Flight at Maxwell AFB, AL, earning multiple awards and recognitions including the 2009 Squadron Officer of the Year. During that time, he was responsible for handling all of the difficult and advanced cases that came through the clinic.
Now more than ever, people of all ages are taking steps to have the healthiest, most beautiful smiles possible. Dr. Avrit is highly trained and extremely experienced in all aspects of general, surgical, and cosmetic dentistry. He is constantly taking high-level continuing education classes given by the top teachers in the dental field.
Brenna has been in the dental field since she started with McKays Mill Dental in 2009 and loves working here! One of the many reasons she loves her job is her amazing patients and the relationships shes formed with them over the years.
Brenna is a native of Graham, Washington, and travels there frequently to spend time with her family, including her sweet nieces and nephews. She also has a great love for live music and has traveled to new places to see a concert of a band she enjoys.
Erin is a native of Roy, Utah, and has worked in the dental field since 1998, starting as a dental assistant. She is the recipient of the Weber State University Crest Award for service. Erin recently joined our team in 2021 and enjoys getting to know her patients and educating them on their oral health.
Samantha has been part of McKays Mill Dental team since 2015. Her role is to assist Dr. Avrit in all chairside procedures. The best part of the job for Samantha is getting to see her patients enjoy their healthy new smiles.
Vanecia holds an Associate of Science from Nashville State Community College and a Bachelors's degree in biology from Tennesse State University. She additionally attended Kaplan College, where she received her dental assisting degree.
Vanecia worked at McKays Mill Dental several years ago, and we are happy to have her back on a full-time basis! The best part of the job for Vanecia is seeing the boost in confidence a patient gets after having their smiles transformed.
A native of Murfreesboro, Vanecia has lived in Nashville since she was seven years old. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, roller skating, and spending time with her two children, dog, and bearded dragon.
Jessicas interest in working in the dental field began when she volunteered at a dental practice and had the chance to learn what role a dental assistant plays. She subsequently attended Dental Staff School for her assistant training.
Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, Jessica recently started at McKays Mill Dental, and were excited to have her on our team! She enjoys helping patients achieve excellent oral health and loves when they leave our office with a big, happy smile.
As our office manager, Chrishelle speaks to many patients every day and often doesnt get to meet them in person. It makes her day when she meets someone shes spoken to and can connect a face to a name.
Chrishelle is a native of New Orlean (Go Saints!) and loves spending time with her husband and kids, especially working on puzzles as a family. In her free time, she also enjoys cooking, reading, working out, and traveling every chance she gets.
Katy attended Dental Staff School of Tennessee, where she received her registered dental assistant training. She became a member of McKays Mill Dental team in September 2020 and serves a dual role as our dental assistant and insurance specialist.
The best part of the job for Katy is seeing the transformation patients go through from the time they arrive until the time they leave. Many patients arrive feeling nervous, but by the time they leave, they laugh and joke around and walk out with big smiles feeling completely satisfied.

I had a tooth break and they were able to get me in right away. I was going on a trip and they went above and beyond to ensure that my temporary looked great. Also, they created a retainer in case I have issues while traveling. I greatly appreciate the excellent care and assistance. It definitely is great to know that in emergency times that they make sure the patient is taken care of. Thank you Sam and Dr. A.

The best dentist office I've ever been too! They helped me get over my dental anxiety. Everyone is so nice and helpful from start to finish. You are always greeted with a smile at reception. Mandi, my Dental Hygienist, is so personable and makes you feel like you are talking to a friend when she is cleaning your teeth. Dr. Avrit and Dr. Johnson are fantastic and treat you like are a person when examining your teeth or doing a procedure. Couldn't recommend this practice more!

Staff is nice and can usually fit you in their schedule no problem. I've only been going here close to 6 months. However, I called months ago requesting an appointment and was even scheduled within the next day or so to be seen for a tooth that has cracked in half. After driving an hour to be seen, I was told there was no availability that day to fix it and the receptionist was out and nobody could schedule me to be seen again until she returned the following week. I was assured she would call as a follow up to schedule upon her return. I did receive a phone call about 3 weeks later but only to ask what date a previous crown had been placed for insurance purposes. I explained I had no idea that it had been years(7)so she said she would call and request the information from my previous dentist. Apparently that wasn't done because I received another phone call 2 weeks later asking for the same information but she wasn't as friendly. Fast forward, the information has been given and I have paid my balance but nobody has checked with me about my cracked tooth, and at this point it's been about 3 months and I'm annoyed at the lack of communication they have regarding patients.

I really like Dr. Johnson and her staff because they are congenial and professional. I didn't feel at all scared. The office and equipment is very up to date and they are not short staffed. They x-ray your entire mouth all at once. I think this is better than the old fashioned bite wing method. I feel like I received excellent care and will continue to use their practice.
