My childhood was spent in Fort Thomas Kentucky. I attended the University of Kentucky on a full academic scholarship, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. I worked as an engineer for two years before deciding that my heart was leading me to dentistry.
I graduated with 'High Distinction' in 2007 from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. From there, I did my three year residency in Orthodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. I became Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2014, a distinction held by only 30% of practicing orthodontists. I enjoy learning about the newest techniques and technology to use in my office. Our 3D cone beam x-ray allows me to see small details that assist me in creating more customized treatment plans then ever before.
My wife Dara and I met while I was in residency in San Antonio. She is from Cibolo, so once I finished my residency we decided to make it our home. I opened McGarrell Orthodontics in 2010, and not long after we were married. We have three beautiful, active kids, Mason, Emery and Ainslee. I spend my nights and weekends coaching their sports teams, and keeping them active outdoors.
Dara and I love being an active part of the community. You will see us at local events, as well as supporting schools whenever we can. I am an avid sports fan and always pull for my alma mater, GO WILDCATS!
