Dr. Grant McGanns genuine care for his patients shines through in his work day after day. As a board certified oral surgeon, his career has been dedicated to performing, advancing, and teaching oral and maxillofacial surgery. This expertise is the foundation of McGann Facial Design (MFD), an exclusive San Diego based private oral surgery practice specializing in treating patients around the globe who are dissatisfied with their facial features and wish to change the way they FACE the world.
A native Californian, Dr. McGann was born and raised in Laguna Beach, California. He received his undergraduate degree in Health Promotion Disease Prevention from the University of Southern California in 2001 and his Doctorate in Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 2004. He graduated with honors from both dental and undergraduate schools, and has received numerous awards for his academic and clinical work. In 2008, after graduation, he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the prestigious Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Giving back is important to Dr. McGann, as evidenced by his frequent surgical missions to Tanzania, The Philippines, Belgium, and Taiwan to bring much needed help to the underserved. In honor of his dedication, he was awarded the 2008 American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Resident Leadership and Community Service Award.
Dr. McGanns passions include spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their beautiful children, Lily, Dean and Knox. They love spending time enjoying San Diegos great coast, either surfing, playing in the sand, or taking their boat out to fish.

Pleasant surprise. The office is located down near Rady's Children's hospital close to all kinds of cool businesses like restaurants and college coffee shops. Worth the drive from North County. The staff have been super supportive and the doctor is Mr. Precison. Loved this experience that I had been so terrified of for so long; a dental implant! It wasn't that bad!

I will not be offered any services today during my emergency because I do not agree with their views and have not submitted to a covid-19 vaccine shot. I live in the 8th largest city in America, so I should be able to find a Doctor that is willing to help me.

Dr. McCann has now done 2 separate extractions for my son. First, he was born with 2 extra teeth that needed to be pulled at 3. Second, he just had 4 teeth extracted to make room for his smile. My son is on the autism spectrum, so we needed a special doctor. We have found that in Dr. McCann. He treats my son with kindness and gives him as many scientific details as he needs. Dr. McGann is kind, patient, and does great work. The healing process has been seemless both times for my son. I would recommend anyone to Dr. McGann!

They require the covid vaccine before they are willing to do surgery on you. This should be mentioned immediately for anyone interested in their services.

I had a wisdom tooth pulled today and after this experience I wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr McGann and his team are amazing. They make you feel welcome and comfortable and his bedside manner is the best. He even called 30 mins after my surgery to check up on me. Just an all around amazing experience with an amazing medical staff. Would definitely recommend and go back.

I just had a wisdom tooth taken out. However, this is the best dental experience I have every had in my 48 years. Specifically, the office environment is warm, lots of light, and so comfortable. Next, the office staff is welcoming and kind, and I immediately felt at home. Third, the team is so helpful and friendly. I.e., the bedside manner is 100%--so good! Dr. McGann explained everything very clearly, to the point where when things were complete, it had gone EXACTLY like he said. I'm still in a bit of shock at how smooth and good this experience was considering I had oral surgery. Thank you to the McGann Facial Design Team! My son had an extra tooth that was shifting his baby teeth, his pediatric dentist office recommended Dr. McGann. I was nervous taking him because he's young, but they reassured me everything was going to be fine. They even made my son feel very comfortable, which can be tough since he's young. They took his tooth out, he was very satisfied, he says he wants to go back if he ever has any more teeth to take out because they did not hurt him. I would recommend Dr. McGann to everyone the team was very professional and took out his tooth very fast. They over exceeded my expectations.

I had 2 molars removed by Dr. McGann. He is very professional, the staff is excellent, they were great throughout the process. I highly recommend this doctor and his staff. I have to admit I was scared and very concerned. My tolerance for pain is zero. I had my procedure at 2:30 pm. It was completed in a timely fashion and the meds worked excellent during the procedure. I'm shocked I did not have to utilize any pain meds after my procedure. Excellent doctor! I highly recommend him! Good luck!

Dr. McGann and Company are quite simple AMAZING! I went in to have 3 of my wisdom teeth extracted. It was an in-and-out, 30 minutes, no pain, and after a short bit of drowsiness, I was back to my self within two hours. They were thorough, courteous, and very knowledgeable. Dr. McGann also called me later in the day to check in to see how I was doing. Highly, HIGHLY recommend!

I had such a wonderful experience with everyone at McGann Facial Design from the receptionists and nurses to Dr. McGann himself. I got all four wisdom teeth removed and was nervous going in because it was my first time being put under for surgery; however, the whole staff made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. I was given a warm blanket once I was seated in the chair and the entire process was less than 30 minutes! I was provided everything I needed upon leaving, but Dr. McGann made sure to call me personally that afternoon to see how I was doing and give me a chance to ask any additional questions that may have come up since my surgery that morning. My recovery has been so smooth and they even sent me a Jamba Juice gift card as a thoughtful treat with a hand written card! I don't leave reviews often, but Dr. McGann and team made a lasting impression on me so I felt I should share. I would certainly recommend going here because they truly do make you feel like a highly valued patient!
