Dr. Tom McDougal and Dr. Chris Richards work with a team that is known for their gentle touch and friendly attitude. Most of our team members have served in the dental field for more than 25 years. Dr. McDougal earned a Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor University College of Dentistry. He also served in the US Air Force Dental Corps for two years where he received post-doctoral dental training. In 1970, he opened his private dental practice in Richardson, Texas.
Dr. McDougal has served on the faculty at the world-renowned Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida, where he taught other dentists from around the world. He has served as the president of the Dallas County Dental Society and the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration. Dr. McDougal is a member of the Texas and American Dental Associations and the Academy of Dentistry International. He is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. McDougal is an adjunct professor at Baylor College of Dentistry and on the teaching faculty for the Center of Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry (CARD). Since he is so accomplished at what he does, he teaches other dentists the managerial and technical aspects of dentistry at a variety of dental meetings in the United States, Canada, and Japan. Dr. McDougal has given over 300 scientific lectures at dental seminars. Locally, he volunteered for 37 years his services at Kiwanis Wesley Dental Center, a dental clinic for indigent children.
Dr. McDougal is married to Janet Ruschhaupt McDougal and together, they have three daughters, Dianne, Mary Beth, and Laura, and four grandchildren. His hobbies include golf, hunting, motorcycling, and aerobically exercising. He is a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Dr. Richards is a graduate of Baylor University, where he completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. While at Baylor, Dr. Richards earned the Baylor University Provost Scholarship. He was also a member of the Golden Key Honor Society and the School of Education Honor Society, all while regularly maintaining his position on the Deans Academic Honor Roll. He went on to attend the University Of Oklahoma College Of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He also received an academic scholarship and maintained his position on the Deans Honor Roll.
Dr. Richards is a current member of the Dallas County Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association. In December of 2013, Dr. Richards received his fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and in July of 2017, Dr. Richards received his fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a 2016 graduate of the Masters Program of the Center of Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry (CARD) in Dallas. He is active in the Dallas Study Club and the Seattle Study Club. A committed perpetual student, he participates in these learning opportunities monthly in order to better serve his patients. Dr. Richards is also a certified provider for Invisalign. He is always on the cutting edge of dentistry and is highly qualified in the newest methods for restorative and aesthetic care.
Dr. Richards was born in Tyler, Texas and shortly afterwards he moved with his family to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Richards family has always been a huge support system for him and he says that they helped to instill a superb work ethic in him at a very young age. Growing up, Dr. Richards was always interested in the health professions and he felt called to pursue a career in dentistry during high school when he was involved in an accident on the baseball field that resulted in the need for urgent dental care. It was then that he realized the importance of dentistry and the need for caring, hardworking individuals who strive to treat each patient with the care, dignity, and respect that they deserve.
Dr. Richards married his college sweetheart in June of 2008 and they moved to Dallas in 2011 when Dr. Richards joined this practice. They have a son, Chase, born in March of 2013 and a daughter, Reese, born in July 2016. In his free time, Dr. Richards loves to golf, hunt and spend time with his family. Dr. Richards and his family are members of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.
Anastacia has served in dental practice management for over 17 years. A former engineer from Hewlett-Packard, Anastacia has experience in marketing, recruiting, finance, and administrative systems. She came to dentistry through working for a dentist, aiding in marketing and finance. She took an interest in the science of dentistry and has enjoyed the last 17 years helping patients and team members understand the sometimes complex fundamentals of dentistry and the business of dentistry.
As the manager of this great team, she likes to say, I welcome you to our dental family. We are excited you have chosen us to help you with your preventive and restorative oral health.
