I have always loved both art and science, so orthodontics is the perfect profession for me. I truly love what I do! I feel very blessed to be able to spend my day helping people improve their lives by giving them a healthy and beautiful smile.
It is an exciting day for the patients when their braces are put on, but its an even bigger day when they come off. The enormous sense of accomplishment that is felt by the patients and parents on that special day is shared by me and my entire staff!
I completed my undergraduate studies atBrigham Young Universitybetween1991 and1996, andI met my future wife, Lisa, there. We were married four days before I started dental school at The University of Southern California(USC), where Ireceived my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) with honors in May 2001.
I was accepted into theUSC orthodontics residency program,whereI spent the next three yearslearning the art of orthodontics with five other residents and some of the best orthodontists in the world.It was an amazing experience! I graduated in 2004 with a masters degree and certificate in orthodontics, and have been perfecting the art every day since.
My family and I settled in the St Louis area in 2005and have loved being part of the community.Ive been married to Lisa since 1996and we have three teenage boysParker, Scott, and Thomasand a King Charles Cavalier named Padme.
I feel that its an exciting day for my patients when their braces are first put on. I try to make it an occasion to remember, because it is the beginning of the journey to the best smile of your life. To me, orthodontics is about taking something that has great potential and making it perfect. Thus, the biggest day of any treatment is when my patients braces come off. We all feel a sense of accomplishment.

I enjoy spending my spare time with my two beautiful children, Carter and Charlotte. Like most women, I also love to go shopping! I also love crafting, scrapbooking, and making accessories for my daughter.
I have been in the dental field for 28 years. I spent ten years in general dental and 18 years in orthodontics. Being in orthodontics has been a very rewarding experience. I have seen so many beautiful smiles over the years. I enjoy working with such wonderful patients and with a fun staff and our awesome doctor. I look forward to seeing more smiles every day!

Let me start out by saying I don't have a problem with the Dr or techs because I never got to the point of meeting them or being treated by them. What I do have a problem with is having an appointment scheduled for a month (because that's the earliest I could be seen by them) only to show up for said appointment and be turned away because I brought my infant with me. I was never told by phone, text, or email to come alone or that infants aren't allowed in because of covid. There is also nothing on their Facebook page or personal website about not bringing infants. According to their personal website under covid information, their office is still closed... maybe they need to hire someone to maintain their social media/website information? I am a stay at home mom. I don't have 24/7 childcare readily available to me, however, had I been given this information in the beginning I would have been able to make childcare arrangements. I have 3 children that will most likely need braces in the future per dentist recommendation but I assure you, I will not be bringing them here due to their lack of communication.

I love the staff they are really nice and friendly. My teeth look amazing. It's a safe and fun atmosphere with great attitude from everyone. You will not regret going here.

It's been almost 3 years with my braces and I'm still just as in love with Dr. McDermott and his team as I was the first day! They've always made me feel as comfortable as I could with all the pain that comes along with having braces and while during appointments. I have a super hectic schedule and they have been so helpful and understanding when it came to being late or rescheduling adjustment visits. My time is coming to an end with braces and I'm so going to miss this amazing team and just how truly welcoming they are! They have been nothing short of amazing!!

My two daughters have had braces on here. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating! I would recommend Dr. McDermott to anyone!

Really clean and cute office with exceptionally friendly staff. My 9 year old and I both felt welcomed and informed by the ladies as well as Dr. McDermott. My son will be the proud owner of braces this fall and he can't wait to begin the first phase of two.

Dr. McDermott is the BEST!!! Not only did he help make my teeth straight, he also removed part of my top gums with a laser to make my smile perfect! He always had a smile on his face, made a point of talking to me when I was in the chair, and just made the whole experience a great one. I would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for an orthodontist :)

Dr. McDermott is so awesome! He gave me my perfect, straight teeth I have been wanting since I was little. Now, as an adult, I can honestly say I never stop smiling because of his great work.
