James W. W. McCreight, DDS (Dr. Jim) was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. He received his BA from Luther College, obtaining a degree in biology in 1991. After his undergraduate education, Dr. Jim went on to receive his dental degree (DDS) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1995. As a graduating senior, Dr. Jim was selected by the dental faculty to present the commencement address for the graduating dental and hygiene classes that same year. Dr. Jim continued his dental education by completing an advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) through the Naval Dental Center of San Diego, California, in 1996. He was a commissioned officer in the Navy (lieutenant) during this training period. Dr. Jim then worked at several dental clinics in San Diego and Yuma, Arizona, helping both active duty Navy and Marine personnel.
Dr. Jim and his wife and partner, Dr. Wendy McCreight, founded McCreight Progressive Dentistry (formerly Yampa Valley Dental and Associates, PC) in 1998. Drs. Jim and Wendy also founded the McCreight Smile Foundation in December 2006, which is a dental fund that directly supports victims of domestic violence of Northwest Colorado.
Dr. Jim is also a past graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), studying both cosmetic and physiologic dentistry. Dr. Jim was also selected as one of forty-eight clinical instructors in the world to teach at LVI. Dr. Jim formerly instructed the Advanced Anterior and Comprehensive Aesthetic Reconstruction programs, teaching dentists from around the world state of the art cosmetic and physiologic dentistry. Dr. Jim also serves as a key opinion leader (KOL) for several dental manufacturers, including PerioProtect, Kettenbach, BioResearch and Dakota Pharmacy.
Dr. Jim maintains active memberships in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH), American Dental Association (ADA), Colorado Dental Association (CDA) and Western Slope Dental Association. Dr. Jim also maintains active membership in the International Association of Physiologic Aesthetics (IAPA) and has also served the IAPA as a past president. Dr. Jim is also a multiple Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International.
Dr. Jim enjoys the outdoors of Northwest Colorado with his wife and two kids, Hannah Alexis McCreight and Jackson James McCreight. Drs. Jim and Wendy live in Steamboat Springs, also known as Ski Town, USA.

Anna is a fabulous assistant as well as receptionist... Diana is an amazing hygienist, and the McCrieght's are just great people all around. They even gave me a $50 gift certificate to a nice restaurant when I ran into them on a nice night out on the town. Great people, great dentists, an great vibes. I would recommend this office to anybody that is in the Steamboat area. I had lots of trouble with other dentist in this town before finding McCrieght dentistry.

McCreight Progressive Dentistry is hands down the best dental team here in Steamboat. My family and I went through 2 other dental offices and thought finding a good dentist would be impossible. I am so glad we found McCreight, not only are they patient with my children, they are also very informative in educating our family about their individual needs. My young ones are SO comfortable coming to the dentist and they have a blast! This team is like family and they treat you as family which for me, is a must. I wish we didn't have to go through two other dental offices to find our match, so I hope this helps someone else in their journey to finding an amazing dental team. You will not be disappointed! We love this team and won't go to anyone else here in Steamboat!

I was recommended to them and I'm so glad I was! I had a skiing accident and needed repair to a fractured tooth and loose bridge. They took great care in all the procedures so far and there is more work to come. I actually do not mind going to a dentist for the first time on my life. They are all so caring and have become good friends since I've have to go there so often for my repair. I know I am in great hands and want my husband to start going to them as well!
