Kirk McCracken D.M.D., born and raised in Central Pennsylvania, received his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Susquehanna University in 1984. He joined the family practice in 1988, after receiving his Doctorate Degree and graduating with honors from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Kirk is an active member of the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Harrisburg Dental Society. He regularly exceeds the state requirements for continuing education and has completed a two-year advanced implant restorative program. Outside the office, he enjoys skiing in the winter. In the summer months, he is often on a local trout stream fly fishing or spending time in the Pennsylvania woods and mountains. He lives near Dillsburg with his wife Gerry, who is also a general dentist. They enjoy spending time with their three children and new grandson.
A second generation dentist, was born in Pittsburgh but raised locally. He joined the practice with his father, Dr. Byrd McCracken, in 1983. He received his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Lycoming College in 1979. He attended Dental School at the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with honors in 1983. Dr. Mark is an active member of the American Dental Association, and the Harrisburg Dental Society. He is an advocate of continuing education and attends many seminars every year to stay current in his specialty. He completed a two year advanced implant training program. Dr. Mark currently resides in Enola with his wife, Cheryl. Their daughter, Kortney, is currently a dental hygienist here at the office, while their oldest daughter, Kristen, has a career in the banking industry. Mark and Cheryl also enjoy spending lots of time with their four beautiful granddaughters.

On my first visit to McCracken family dentistry they took lots of x-rays which they said were free. On my second visit I told Dr. McCracken that my tooth really hurt. Instead of recommending that I go to an oral surgeon he filled the tooth and another tooth above it. He held my mouth open for over an hour and would not let me shut my mouth as he filled the upper and lower tooth in the back of my mouth. Then he charged me $500 for both he been filled. Now he tells me to go to an oral surgeon! My mouth is so sore that I ended up at my neurologist who told me that she thought I might have trigeminal neuralgia. This was a very painful disease Which could have been brought on by disregard for the pain in my mouth while the teeth were being filled. I ended up getting both tooth polled which further injured the muscles in my face - it was a real nightmare. My choices from my neurologist were either radiation or brain surgery! Fortunately I talked to a friend who had TMJ and she suggested that I go to see a TMJ massage specialist. Fortunately she was able to get the muscles in my cheek to relax through her therapy and exercises that she taught me. I was able to get off all of the very strong pain medication which was causing me to feel dizzy. I couldn't even remember what day it was from taking a strong medication which was for epilepsy but also helped trigeminal neuralgia patients. This was a seven month nightmare for me. If Dr. McCracken had just listened to me for two minutes, all this pain and nightmare experience could have been a voided!!! I would never recommend this practice! I'm 74 years old and I really do feel that I was taken advantage of because of my age. Angela Fichtner

Damaged my tooth. Called after hours and spoke with the dentist. He arranged for me to be seen the next morning and repaired my tooth. Seamless. Thank you Dr. Kirk!

Very professional and knowledgeable staff. I never have a problem getting appointments made are being seen by the doctor even if it's an emergency case. It's more like more like family then it is a business. Very comfortable atmosphere and very friendly staff. McCracken will always be my go to when it comes to a Dentistry and Dr. Mark's work is amazing!!

This is a tremendous practice in every sense of the word. The doctor (Mark) is a consultative practitioner, and is going to make me the best patient I can be. I say that in utmost seriousness. Taking the time to make sure I understand what is happening in my mouth, and telling me what I can do to optimize self-care makes me aware of the choices I have that will contribute to my long-term dental health. I love this practice! Been with them 35 years. Dr Mark is the best. He has a very gentle touch, proactive if dental problems arise, and very pleasant. Great combo for those with pain and/or sensitivity.

Love this practice... I see Dr Kirk and Krista. She does my cleanings and has never hurt me and both of them make the visit less nerve racking. That says a lot considering I used to be afraid to go to the dentist. Highly recommend them.

I highly recommend McCracken Family Dentistry. Dental work triggers my PTSD. Dr. Mark understands my condition and puts you at ease, talks you through what he is doing to make you feel safe and I never feel pain. I was getting a tooth impression for a crown and started having anxiety. The dental assistant reminded me to breathe and started tapping her foot to focus my attention so I could ground myself. I will always remember her quick thinking and compassion for people with PTSD. Dr. Mark then cut back the next impression tray to better fit my mouth that helped me feel more comfortable. If you know someone who has dental fear issues I strongly recommend they become a patient at McCracken Family Dentistry.
