W. Chad McCoy, DDS, began his dental practice the summer of 1954 in Chillicothe Missouri. He followed in his fathers footsteps Howard McCoy, a dentist practicing Albany, MO. Dr. Howard McCoy graduated from the Western Dental College in Kansas City, MO in 1923, and he practiced in Albany, MO from 1923-1944 at the time of his death.
Dr. Chad McCoy graduated from Washington University School of Dental Medicine (St. Louis, MO) in 1954. The business first opened at 511 Elm Street beside the practice of Joseph Conrad MD. Dr. Chad McCoy operated at the Elm street location in Chillicothe until October 2001.
In 1985, Rolfe McCoy DMD (son of Dr. Chad McCoy) joined the practice. He also graduated from Washington University School of Dental Medicine in 1985. It was at this time that the practice took the name of McCoy Dental Clinic. It was know for its large Tooth Sign out front.
For the past 15 years, the clinic has been located at 850 Fairway, Chadwick Plaza in Chillicothe, MO, a 4800 square foot fully modern facility. There are 12 fully functional operatories with state of the art equipment including Digital radiography.
Stuart Samples DDS joined the team in 2005, graduating from UMKC School of Dentistry. Dr. Samples grew up in Carrollton, Missouri and followed his own fathers footsteps, whom is also a dentist in Carrollton, MO. In 2008, the practice changed its name to McCoy & Samples Dental Clinic.
David Mattingly, DDS came on board in 2010, originally from Perryville, Missouri. Dr. David Mattingly also a graduate of UMKC School of Dentistry and treats patients in Chillicothe and Hamilton. Dr. David Mattingly has expanded his education to place Dental Implant and has hospital privileges at St. Lukes Hedrick Medical Center.
Emily Mattingly, DDS (wife of Dr. David Mattingly and Daughter of Dr. Rolfe McCoy) joined the practice in May of 2012. Dr. Emily Mattingly is also a graduate of UMKC School of Dentistry. She also treats patients in both Chillicothe and Brookfield Missouri.
Our offices use electronic health records to manage your dental records. We are proud of our offices, which fully utilizes state of the art equipment, and we utilize the best equipment sterilization techniques available to dentists.
She graduated with her Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene degree in May of 2014. Jessie went on to work at a small Federaly Qualified Health Center in Southern Iowa before joining our team in May of 2017. Jessie and her husband, Clint, and their three sons, Kynsen, Ace and Rowan, enjoy traveling, attending sports events that the boys are involved in, and spending time with family and friends. Jessie excited to provide care to the patients of McCoy Samples Mattingly in our Chillicothe location.
Natalie graduated from Concorde Career College in Kansas City, Missouri in 2020 with her Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. She has worked for McCoy Samples Mattingly Dental clinic as an expanded functions dental assistant for nearly 9 years.
Oral education and health is extremely important to me, says Natalie. Thats how I knew I wanted to share my knowledge and help others in their schooling and careers in dental hygiene.Owning and operating her education business online along with providing care for her local patients keeps Natalie busy, but she says she wouldnt have it any other way.
Michele graduated from Salisbury R-IV High School in 2011. Michele then continued her education and graduated from Nichols Career Center in Jefferson City, Missouri in 2013 and obtained her Dental assisting certification with expanded functions. In 2016, Michele graduated from State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri with her Dental Hygiene degree. In May of 2019, Michele graduated from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri with a Bachelors In Health Science.
Michele is from Salisbury, Missouri. She currently resides in Mendon, Missouri with her husband, Riley and son Tye. In Micheles spare time she enjoys traveling, camping, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys going to the lake, planting flowers, photography, and anything outdoors!

I would like to tell EVERYONE how great Dr Mattingly was with me. I was very nervous and I'm definitely a nervous talker. I haven't been to the dentist but three times in my life. All three times to get teeth pulled. My four wisdom teeth and a back tooth. I also have a pretty gnarly heart condition that makes any dental work I need done a bit dramatic. Anyway, I had a really bad tooth infection and when I went in to their office I was informed I needed a molar extracted. I don't like pain obviously and the infection was awful. So I made a follow up to get the back molar extracted. When I had the wisdom pulled over a decade ago it was awful. It hurt tremendously during the extractions and very much so for days afterwards. That's what I thought was going to happen this time. Obviously the shots were a lot of pressure. I received two shots. Yet when I got the wisdom teeth pulled I had three shots and it didn't seem to help at all ten years ago. There was also a bit of pain during the extraction. But just a tiny bit. After I left I just knew that when the numbing wore off that it was going to hurt so much. But nope. Not at all. Not a tiny bit. It all feels fine. It's been four days and I haven't had to take any Tylenol or ibuprofen. Dr Mattingly did so well that it only slightly hurt during the extraction and not at all after. I'm so happy I found them. I feel so much better and more confident and not as scared to get all the dental work I desperately need to get done now that I found somewhere that does such a great job. If you see this Dr Mattingly, thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for helping my fear subside so I can I can get all the dental work I need to get done without fear. I put it off for so long that it made everything worse but now I'm confident that it will all work out. Thank you! Sorry for the very long comment but I just really wanted for everyone to know especially Dr Mattingly.

Always great visits. Almost feels like visiting friends. AMENDED 3yrs later - No more five stars from me. They seem to have lost that personal touch. No more text reminders, no returned calls. Been waiting for months to get some work done. I've had my approval letter from insurance for several months. The office hadn't even logged that approval in my file. Supposed to call. Not a word. That has been the norm of late. Approval may be expired now. Maybe it's time to search for a new dentist. UPDATE 10/4/22. Things have turned around. Things are great again. Sitting in the chair as I type. Happy girl.

0 star most rude people I meet ....and very unprofessional place ..sad to see a father freeze because he can't wear a mask because of medical condition and has enough gas to get home .. so his daughter in pain had to leave so her father wouldn't freeze guess this place never heard of Ada disability act ..they should be ashamed of themselves..

If you're not going to Dr. Samples don't bother. Had a teeth cleaning and had a swollen gum. Dentist wouldn't look in my mouth. He said the cleaning should do it, if it still hurts in a few days come back.

Gums were swollen. New to town. Needed it looked at. Found McCoys and got an appointment. Took off work. Showed up to dentist. He wanted and X-Ray. Told me he couldn't see anything in the x-ray. I told him it feels like a piece of bone maybe from an old tooth. He said he didn't see anything in the x-ray to go home and if it gets worse come back. Went home in pain. As soon as I got home I went to the bathroom and seen something white almost like a pimple. Got some needle nose from the garage and pulled out a fish bone from a sandwich I had about a week prior.. Didn't see it in my mouth in the days leading up to the the appointment. He wouldn't even look in my mouth... A DENTIST!

I have been being served by this family in dentistry since 1961. First by Dr. Chad, when I was five years old. Later by Dr. Chad's son Dr. Rolfe. Now by Dr. Rolfe's daughter Dr. Emily and her husband Dr. David. Still, on occasion, you might see Dr. Chad just across the street from the Chillicothe office, on the links, playing a round of golf.
