Dr. Clayton McCarl was born and raised in College Park, MD. He eventually obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland College Park in 1977, and soon after, he enrolled in the University of Maryland Dental School along with his brother Jay, graduating in 1984.
Today, Dr. Clayton has been practicing for over 30 years, and when not at the dental office, he loves spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoys exercising and still cheers for University of Maryland sportsGo Terps!
Dr. Jay McCarl began his college education at Gettysburg College, obtaining his B.A. before enrolling in one of the top-rated dental schools in the country, the University of Maryland Dental School. He got to share the experience with his brother, Dr. Clayton, and eventually graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
When not at the dental office, Dr. Jay likes to spend most of his time with his wife Kimberly and their children, Jonah and Tori. He has coached several childrens sports teams, been very active in his church and even helped author a book about the history of Greenbelt, MD, where his grandfather was the very first dentist!

McCarl Group had not yet become my dentist when I had to call them to help with a crown that had fallen out. They said they would be happy to help and I had an appointment within 2 days. I asked to become a regular patient, got an appointment for my first check-up and filled our all the necessary forms on line. Dr. Dave McCarl replaced my crown with a new one that was made on site in their facility and fits perfectly. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and professional and the office itself is as well. I am very pleased to have the McCarl Group as my new dentist.

Pleasant is not the usual adjective applied to a trip to the dentist, but I cannot think of anything that wasn't exceptional in my experience there today. A single sitting for two fillings and a crown was as smooth as it could be from the front office to the technician support to Dr. McCarl's treatment.

I was in a financially tight situation and dealing with a hole in my #30 molar tooth, a dental/medical emergency. When no other dentist would see me, I was at risk of the infection getting worse, even spreading. A life-threatening medical issue! Just when I was about to give up hope after calling over 8 different places, I was in a state of panic and severe anxiety. I found Clayton McCarl, I was able to reach out to Dr. Clayton after-hours in the late evening. Dr. Clayton listened to me, connected with my pain, and made sure regardless of my financial status that he would see me in-office and do a surgical extraction of the tooth which was all I could afford at the time. I only had 60% of what I would need financially and Dr. Clayton treated me like absolute family. He showed a great level of compassion and concern for me, he was very friendly and carried out the procedure in a professional and timeless manner. I was out of pain within 24 hours, indicative of a professional procedure. His suture work was very well done and the wound stayed closed up. Dr. Clayton is a truly remarkable person.

This is a wonderful family practice! I have seen all three McCarl dentists, as well as Sally McCarl and Kris the hygienists. All do wonderful and precise work, with great attention to detail. They are friendly, and they effortlessly make going to the dentist an enjoyable visit. I have had a very difficult schedule, and they have always been kind and accommodating. Not only all this, but I found the best dentists in the Annapolis region -- right in my own back yard! Update several years later -- been going to McCarl Dental Group for over 10 years now, and I still find them as one of the best dental practices I've been to in my adult life! Thank you!

After ongoing appointments with another Dentist, and nothing being resolved except high costs. I reached out to McCarl Dental Group, Dr. Jay had treated me a few years ago, before I moved from the area. He cares about his patients and gave me several options to choose from. There is a relaxed atmosphere and I will continue to use them when dental care is needed. Dr. Jay is number one for my family.

McCarl Dental Group is great. If you are looking for high quality dentistry without the mob scene, professional environment with latest equipment, and excellent experience, then I don't think you could choose a better practice. I have no affiliation with McCarl Dental Group; however I feel I have a great patient - dentist relationship. If I need to see someone in an emergency, they have been able to accommodate because they are deliberately not jam packed and cranking volume. I feel the quality over the quantity aspect at McCarl. Just came back from my second appointment this year during Covid environment and the place is clean and the crew is taking precautions in promoting a healthy lifestyle. I have no hesitation in going.
