John McAllister, DDS Dr. John McAllister is a talented, vibrant, and highly skilleddentist in Hickorythat has served the area for many years. After growing up in Hickory, Dr. McAllister began his education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1991 with a degree in psychology. Dr. McAllister then pursued a post-graduate Masters degree in physical therapy at The Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
He worked for eight years as a physical therapist and Director of Rehabilitation Services at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina. Desiring a career change, he pursued his passion for dentistry by returning to the University of North Carolina where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Science degree with Honors and Distinction.
After gaining valuable experience working with Dr. Eugene Modlin and attending numerous continuing education courses and peer supported study clubs, Dr. McAllister was prepared to open his own dental office in Hickory. He has loyally served every patient with the most up-to-date, professional, and caring dental services, gaining the respect of his patients and the local community.
Dr. McAllister and his staff are committed to helping the citizens of Catawba County by donating free dental care and dental supplies and also making financial contributions to a wide variety of organizations, schools, and charities throughout the region.

The staff in the office was always so sweet and kind over the phone, when I came in for my first visit I felt the same warmth and welcoming I had needed from a dentist's office. Dr McAllister understood the anxiety and had wonderful bedside manner as well. He also took the time to educate his patients on basic oral hygiene and is very needed amd appreciated. I didn't feel like I was just another patient, or another paycheck. They all had me feel like they cared about their work the outcome and if I was going to put in the effort for myself.

I've hated going to the dentist since I was a young kid. I started going to Dr. McAllister's office in my early/mid-30's and have had nothing but positive experiences. Don't get me wrong, he has had to fix some things that some previous Dentists did not do a stellar job on, but I've never had a painful experience and every single person who works at the office is just a joy. I have had two Dental Hygienists who have been both gentle with my cleanings (no traumatic gum prodding like I've had before) and have established rapport quickly just by being genuinely kind and engaging. The staff always appear to be happy and you will never have a grumpy check-in or check-out experience.

This Dentistry office is the best the employees are very knowledgeable and is very nice they take time in answering all questions that you have and the office is neat and clean and the Dentist is also very helpful and polite to his patients.

This is not Dave Alderson. I am Evelyn McMillan, his wife. Apparently this is his google account. Never the less. I have had a ton of dental work in my long life & gone through several dentists, lots of crowns & fillings and an implant. So I know a good dentist from a bad one. Dr. McAllister loves his work & is a true artist. When he became my dentist, I never looked back. He goes the extra mile to gain certifications in new dentistry techniques. He is quick to invest in state of the art technology. He concerns himself with a client's overall health, as well as their dental health. His pricing is very reasonable. I know something about that too. Last but no least, he & his staff make me feel like part of the family. They are genuine, lovely people, every one of them.

This was the best dentist I've ever been to. They were so considerate to my issues and helped me feel relaxed with the emergency procedure they had to perform. I was a walk in and I was done and out in less than 90 minutes. Very gentle and kind. Hands down the best dentist in Hickory and the surrounding area!
