Every dentist completes dental school to become licensed and begin practicing, but some opt to pursue further schooling within a particular specialty. Each program focuses on one of nine core competencies and requires an additional two to three years of program-specific residency. Board-certified endodontists demonstrate exceptional knowledge and skill, dedication to their continued professional growth, and a commitment to providing the highest quality of patient care. Their certification means that they not only have reached the highest level of education in endodontics but also provide enhanced techniques in their care of patients.

In order to provide his patients with the safest, most modern diagnostic care, our team uses Cone Beam Computed Tomography, or CBCT. In fact, Dr. Maupin contributed to CBCT research and is extremely familiar with its advantages. An advanced type of digital radiography, CBCT provides 3D images of structures beneath the teeth and gums, including unprecedented views of teeth roots, internal canals, and bone structure. It is generally used for evaluation prior to surgery and for difficult diagnostic cases. CBCT drastically reduces radiation exposure while providing the necessary information for more targeted and effective endodontic treatment.

Endodontics is a discipline of dentistry that focuses on the roots and inside of the tooth. Endodontists are dentists who specialize in maintaining teeth through endodontic therapy or procedures that involve the soft inner tissue of the teeth. In addition to dental school, endodontists receive two or more years of advanced education in endodontic treatment, studying root canal techniques and procedures in greater depth. All dentists are trained in endodontic therapy, but some teeth can be very difficult to treat and diagnose. The advanced training endodontists receive makes them especially adept at diagnosing tooth pain and treating difficult cases.

We understand that many patients fear the discomfort of root canal treatment. Some patients may even ignore pain and avoid treatment due to dental phobias. Neglecting your oral health can lead to tooth loss, disease, and overall health problems. Dont let nervousness or apprehension keep you from seeking the dental care you need. At Maupin Endodontics, we offer sedation to ease you into your procedure and provide you with a soothing experience.

Sedation can give you the peace of mind you need in order to undergo endodontic treatment. Our doctors can make recommendations for the type of sedation that best suits your needs and your unique circumstances. We offer three types of sedation: nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation, and IV sedation.

Todays anesthetics are very advanced and take much of the worry out of endodontic treatment. We take every measure to ensure that your procedure is as comfortable as possible. Before we begin any treatment, well let you know how to alert us to any discomfort you feel, and then a local anesthetic is gently injected to numb a concentrated area of your mouth. For most patients, this is sufficient pain management and the feeling of numbness usually subsides after 2-3 hours.

Yes we accept most dental insurances and will file the insurance on your behalf. We will work with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered procedures. If you have any questions, please contact our office and our trained staff will answer any questions you might have.

If you have an endodontic emergency outside of normal office hours, please contact us at 806-589-3390. Our phone is answered at all times and you can follow the instructions on the message. After hours and weekend office visits are strictly limited to emergency care for relief of acute discomfort.

For protection, safety, and peace of mind, Maupin Endodontics maintains strict operating protocol. We exceed the highest standards of infection control as set forth by OSHA, the Centers for Disease Control, and the American Dental Association. We use only the most advanced barrier techniques and autoclave sterilization to eliminate your exposure to and risk of cross-contamination.

Additionally, our entire team is CPR certified and we attend several hours of continuing education courses every year. Our office is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including patient monitoring equipment and Automatic Electronic Defibrillator.

Its best to try and replant the tooth into its socket. However, only replant a tooth that is clean! If the tooth has debris, for example, rinse with milk and then attempt to replant it. If you are unable to place the tooth back into the socket, store it in a container of milk, or water with a pinch of salt if milk is not available.

For your convenience, we also provide financing options through CareCredit, a trusted financial services company. CareCredit offers low- and no-interest plans for qualified applicants and you are welcome to apply in our office or at CareCredit online.

I came in with a lot of pain, and a referral from my dentist for a root canal consultation. They got me right in and determined I needed a root canal. Because of a cancellation they asked me if they could do it that day. I was so happy I was crying. This is my second root canal, and I cannot explain how much better this experience was compared to the first one at a different place. The staff was so kind and efficient and thorough. It was a relatively fast experience compared to my first one, and just so much more pleasant. Also, beautiful building and clean facility. Wish I could give this place 10 stars!

I was extremely pleased with the professional skills and service provided by Dr. Steffensen. His chair side manor is so good, and he explains everything he is doing each step of the way. His staff are all wonderful as well, and the chair side dynamics between him and his assistant were comfortable, professional and pleasant. No one likes to get a root canal, and I hope I don't need another one, but if I do this is the guy I'm going to!

Just be careful when giving them your bank account information, they will take money out of your account without notification. This is after the insurance has paid, they do not let you know what the difference is by a phone call, email or mail, they just take the money! Even if it is months later. The right thing to do is to let your patients know what their balance is so they will at least be aware of any transactions that might take place!

I had a root canal done by another dentist in Lubbock a couple years back which turned out fine, but it was a loooong process 2-3 hours with a re-application of numbing shots. I got the feeling that the dentist was a little nervous doing the work. A year later when I needed another root canal on another molar, he flat-out referred me to Maupin Endodontics. My regular dentist is very good and very professional, but he said Maupin specializes in root canals and he felt I would get a good outcome with Maupin. Maupin Endodontics was extremely accommodating, fitting me into their busy schedule a couple days later. Of which I am thankful due to the throbbing toothache keeping me from sleeping. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Dr. Maupin was the extremely pleasant, calming, professional and confident. He thoroughly went through the x-rays and explained the situation so I knew exactly what was going on with the molar and the procedure. No fuss, he got right to work. He deadened the area efficiently with minimal discomfort and I barely felt anything during the procedure. He explained what was happening throughout the procedure and was very reassuring. It took less than an hour to complete, and looking at the x-rays the level of craftsmanship is stunning. After the numbness wore off and 5 hours later, the molar feels perfectly healthy. Can't wait for a restful night's sleep. If your dentist refers you to Dr. Maupin, do not doubt that he is one of the best in Lubbock, Texas. The payment / insurance coordination afterwards was professional and efficient also.

Absolutely LOVE the friendliness of Dr. Maupin and his staff. I had my root canal done just a few days ago, and I didn't feel any pain at all, during the procedure. He was very clear about the whole procedure and made sure I wasn't feeling any pain. Procedure took about an hour and a half. I have absolutely no complaints. Would def recommend 10/10.

I have had the pleasure of having both Dr. Maupin and Dr. Steffensen both work on my teeth. I would and do highly recommend them if any of my family or friends require endodontic work. His office staff, especially April, are fantastic and professional.

I had 2 root canals side by side that needed taken care of. They got both teeth done together the same day at the same time. I was in pain during pandemic and they got me in for consultation same day of first contract. Two days later, two root canals done. Very comfortable, almost no pain afterward. Could barely tell I had my teeth worked on the next day. I was literally falling asleep during the procedures. Very happy with the work. The girls up front are very friendly and are very helpful with your needs including corresponding with my cardiologist office. Prices are very reasonable and the work seems to be very good.
