I have wanted to be a dentists since I can remember and I grew up trying to be as involved in the dental field as possible. My aunt is a dentist who served as my inspiration and role model from the very beginning. I worked as a dental assistant all through high school, competed in a dental terminology competition in Jr. High, worked the front office of a dental office in college and I kept all my baby teeth from the time I turned 6 so that I could study them under a microscope. To say that dentistry is my life sounds dramatic but I couldn't be any more sincere.
I come from a large family of 7 and grew up in Bountiful, Utah. I met my husband when I was studying at Brigham Young University and he was going to the fire academy to become a firefighter/paramedic. After graduating from dental school we moved to Washington state where I practiced in a community health clinic in Yelm.
My husband and I have three children ages 5, 7 and 10. We moved to Hawaii 4 years ago and have enjoyed learning about the Island and its rich culture. We love to spend our weekends at the beach or camping and we love to travel to the mainland to visit family and friends. The things that make me most happy are Broadway musicals, reading and paddle boarding.
I am very proud to play a role in the non-profit organization The LOVE Project; a foundation founded by my mother, that travels to South America annually to provide free dental care and donate other daily essentials to families in underserved communities. I run the dental program and organize the emergency and preventive care of those that we serve.
After years of impermanence, my Ohana and I are happy and grateful to finally call Hawaii home! I grew up in a military family, which meant I never stayed anywhere longer than three years. After leaving home, there was nothing I wanted more than to be settled in the perfect career and community. Through my years of searching, I became a Jack of all trades and master of none, working in everything from construction, appliance repair, banking, retail, and food service. Wherever I worked, I consistently felt a lack of complete fulfillment. Thankfully, with support of my wife and several serendipitous connections, I discovered my passion for dentistry. The complexity and beauty of dentistry, as well as the opportunity it gives me to work with my hands and build relationships, had finally given me something I yearned to master. I am excited to bring this passion to Mauna Family Dental in serving the residents of Hilo and the surrounding community.
I have been married to my best friend and beautiful wife since 2010. She has patiently supported me through my many life course corrections, including moving her far from her family to North Carolina where I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry. We have two wonderful keikis that have brought excitement and rejuvenation into our lives. We love going on adventures together in the great outdoors and enjoy trying new things. We feel blessed to be here on this beautiful island and a part of this community; and as part of this community, I will strive to serve with the spirit of Aloha.

Dr Khealynn Harris: Awesome Experience! Recommend her dentistry for all ages. Implant crown done so quickly. I didn't realize how wonderful dental implants have become the "bionic molar" of your mouth. Not only for molars, but in every missing tooth areas. Dr. Harris is super gentle. Which is what I liked the most. Made sure everything felt comfortable before I left. Light, bright new office. Very welcoming and great office staff!

Both Dr. Dave and Dr. Harris visibly strive to make their patients feel comfortable and calm in an environment that is famously seen as scary. Their staff are highly qualified and go above and beyond when it comes to your needs. Not only are they kind and attentive, they are the best entertainers. I highly recommend their services! I've also had the opportunity to see all hygienists and each one made my teeth squeaky clean! Don't miss out on such an amazing practice;)

I been there a lot since I had bad teeth and had to get a bunch of work done both Dr Dave and Dr Harris are wonderful people and always tells you what's going to happen and different options you have. Plus they make sure you are as comfortable as they can make you. And the staff are very nice people never have I had one that wasn't in a good mood

I love Dr. Dave and Dr. Harris. They have done a great job making their patients feel comfortable and informed. I haven't met one member of the staff that weren't extremely warm, funny, personable, etc. They have done a beautiful remodel of the office too. I absolutely recommend Mauna Family Dental. Dr. Dave is my primary dentist and he actually seems concerned and wants to help with my issues -- I'm not just an insurance claim to this office and it shows.

These two great dentists have taken over Dr. Murasaki's practice. And as sad as I was, as I loved Dr. Murasaki, they were the right choice. Both are so helpful, funny, explain things well and really seem to care. The staff is all of those things too. Sometimes you go into a medical office and find aloof, unhappy nurses and I don't find that here, at all. Clearly they care about their job and us patients. A few of the staff have stayed on as well and I'm so happy about that. And the new ones are just as great. And can we talk about the remodel?! The place is modern, clean, and just great all around.

During recent travels to the Big Island I was in need of dental services. I found Dr. Harris and she was wonderful! I typically don't like going to the dentist, even less so when on vacation. But Dr. Harris was very professional, compassionate and knowledgeable. I was completely comfortable in her care, and she took care of my problem painlessly and with ease. If I lived anywhere in Hawaii, I would definitely choose Dr. Harris as my regular dentist.

I went to Dr Harris after struggling with my teeth for years. I had fillings that had chronic with fillings and a crown that was bothering me. Dr Harris replaced every one of my fillings and even redid my crown. I haven't had a problem since and it's been years. I trust her and you can too.

I absolutely love love love Dr. Harris. As a mother of 4, I really appreciate when I find a doctor who understand the needs of parent. Dr. Harris listens and cares about my concerns for my children's teeth. She is very great with children and my kids love her! She has assisted one of my sons who chipped his tooth from falling off a skateboard. I took him to see 3 doctors before I found Dr. Harris. She understands how uncomfortable the tooth had been bother my son, and she fixed it right away when other doctor expressed it's not an emergency and no need to fix. But Dr. Harris sees the problem that might cause in the future and noticed how that chipped tooth had been irritated my son. We are so grateful for her willingness to help my son feel better and gain back his confidence!

Doctor Harris is absolutely amazing. I hate going to the dentist but had to get my wisdom tooth pulled. She was very gentle and patient with me especially with my dental phobia. Highly recommend

I lost a tooth cap on one of my front teeth, painful as well as gruesome, Dr. Dave took me in, spent 5 hours welding, fitting, fixing it and when I left his office at 7 PM tonight I had a temporary front tooth that matched the others. Mahalo nui for your kokua kauka Dave, e maka maka aikane
